  1. Wow i'm shocked that he would bring your child into this situation. It definitley shows his maturity level or lack thereof. I would simply explain to him the reasons your doing this and let him know that it's YOUR decision to make. You would like his support and understanding during this time since it's a big decision. As adults we may not "agree" with the decisions that our husbands or wives make however if he loves you he will put his own insecurities aside to be there for you. this is a life altering decision not only for you but for the family as well. you may want to find out the underline reasons why he is so against it. He may feel if you guys have connected through food, cooking together, eating together etc. that is a part of the relationship he will not be able to enjoy with you anymore. He maybe afraid of what will happen to the marriage once you've lost the weight. he has to worry about other men looking at you, commenting on how great you look etc. He may not be honest about what the "REAL" reasons he's not supporting you. Change is difficult and uncomfortable for most, the unseen and not knowing how that is going to change how you feel. You may decide he's not the one for you once you feel more confident in your new skin.

    best of luck to you

  2. If your not comfortable telling someone about your surgery then don't. We are all going to be faced with these situations throughout the course of our lives and we all need to learn how to deal with them individually. You've come to the right place to seek information and advice. If your feeling up to going to the party then go. Make a plan prior to going; what would be okay to eat; Soup should be a decent choice. Maybe eat before going so you won't be tempted or hungry. For drinking get a canberry juice and dilute it with Water, no one will know its pure juice. We can't stop living our lives and avoiding social situations, we need to learn a different way of coping and dealing with the obstacles that are in our way. Best of luck.

  3. I'm in the waiting phase for insurance approval. My baratric nurse sent the information in yesterday so i'm expecting to find something out no later than Aug 17th, i have United Healthcare. I also have 2 pre op classes scheduled for Aug 2nd and Aug 9th. I was hoping to have the surgery sometime in August but based on these dates it maybe September. Does it really take 3 weeks for insurance approval? Once i get the approval then the surgeon will schedule my surgery date and any labs, tests etc. I will also have to do 2 week liquid diet prior to surgery. I'm excited but nervous in this final waiting stage, i will feel so much better once i get the insurance approval. Please share your story for time frames on insurance approval and from this point how long did it take to have the surgery.

  4. Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has used these products for their Protein Shakes. I have all three of them left over from various times of trying to loose weight. i have a mini blender that i blend frozen berries with my shakes to be able to tollerate them. I'll be starting my liquid pre op diet soon and want to know if this will be ok to put anything in the shakes to make them more tasty? Of course i'll discuss with my surgeon once that time comes but courious to know what you all used. I don't want to spend more money if i don't have to and have what i currently have go to waste.

  5. hi,

I was wondering someone with a hypothyroid condition and their results with Lap band. Is there a different rate you loose weight to someone that doesn't have a thyroid conditon? I know everyone looses weight at differentley however, someone with a slow thyroid is it slower than 1-2 lbs a week? I would appreciate any information on this. :)

  6. Tomorrow i go for my psyc evaluation which completes the last of my insurance requirements. I had to provide 6 month managed weight loss programs with a registered Dr. or Nutrionist which i completed this month. I believe they are submitting for insurance approval either Monday or Tuesday. I have 2 classes that are manditory and are scheduled for Aug 2nd and Aug 9th. I'm thinking i will be banded sometime at the end of Aug a perfect birthday gift. I'm becoming very excited knowing I will be putting an end to obesity for the rest of my life. For those of you that are on the pre op liquid diet when you were instructed to start that?

i bought a camera recently so i can take before and after pictures to track my progess.

    Oh i can't wait.
