Hi, I've been banded for 26 months and have been extremely successful loosing a total of 80lbs. In January 2014 I lost my job and insurance so I wasn't able to go to the Dr for maintenance fills or checkups needless to say I've gained back 20lbs. I recently went to the dr and had a small fill which helped slightly but i'm still not in the green zone. I've gotten a little lax about my food choices and would really like to get back on track to loose this 20 and possibly 10 more. I relied almost 100% on my band to tell me what I can. I don't have as much restriction but would like to rely on making better food choices and incorporating exercise. I would like any words of advise or know if anyone else has been in this situation and got it under control.. thanks everyone.

I've had this a few times before. Usually when I've aggravated the band by eating to much or to fast. The pain is around my port area and shoots up to my shoulder. I have to go to liquids or puree foods for a few days and then it seems to get better. The pain has lasted for over a week at times but always got better with adjusting my eating. Perhaps take some Tylenol or advil for the pain and if it doesn't get better or worsens I would strongly recommend seeing the DR.

ive been experiencing the same thing. I haven't had a fill for months and up until the last week I was able to eat with little to no problems. Now everything I eat gets stuck even yogurt which has always been easy for me. I've been very stressed out lately recently was laid off, argument with the bf, and worried about money.. i'm wondering if stress does play a big part in all of this. Will the band eventually loosen up or should I have some Fluid removed until I get my emotions under control? I have an appointment to see my dr on Wednesday which i'll certainly talk to him about it then. Just would like some input.

Thank you everyone for the comments. I started this journey 7 months ago and its changed my life. Right after i had the surgery my boyfriend and i broke up of 3 yrs, ( it was a good thing) and i got a better paying job. Without the weightloss and the band i'm not sure either one of these things would've happened. One of the best things that i've noticed is people coming up to me asking me what they need to eat to loose weight. LOL..i'm not a nutrionist but i tell them what works for me. I still would like to loose another 10-15 lbs,to be at my goal, but i'm very happy where i'm at now

ok i just have to share. i decided to go to the store and buy some jeans since all of my clothes are hanging off my body now. I hit the clearance racks and i pulled sizes ranging from 12-8. i tried the 12 and put them on and immediatley fell to the ground, next the 10 just about the same thing happened, then the 8 they fit good and yet still a little loose, who would've thought i'd be going back for a SMALLER size (6) i put them on and they FIT i have never been able to pull up a size 6 let alone button them. OMG i almost started to cry.
i'm not one to rely on the scale so this morning i weighed myself and i have lost a total of 60 lbs!!!!!!!!!!! i love my lap band and love that it keeps me honest. it goes to show you work with it and it will work with you. me and my lap band are one. i have developed a relationship with the band. We've had our ups and downs but we continue to work through it together.
wishing everyone much success
take care

I ate steak for dinner which a piece got stuck. I started sliming and then vomiting for over 20 min. It was the scariest thing. I've been banded for 5 months now but never ever experienced that. I've had so slimming but that's been it. I think I an putting myself on liquids for 24 hrs. This was down right horrible. hopefully the steak went through the band cuz that didn't come up.

I weighed myself yesterday and it said 189. I was banded 9/11/12 starting weight 240. I'm so excited to be back in the 180s. I have 35 ~ 40 lbs to go which I'm embracing. It takes time to lose weight and working through the emotional issues that arise. the emotional part is just as hard as the weight loss maybe harder. I've realized how big of an emotional eater I was. Now I have to deal with the feelings that come up. Its a process we are evolving physically and mentally.be patient with yourself.

Can you do your workout before work to avoid the late night eating? Or prepare your meal after work and maybe do a workout video at home while dinner is cooking?

I'm feeling this way again. I have a soar stomach. My whole body aches and I have tightening around my abodomin. I haven't had a fill since they removed the 1cc. I'm not vomiting but it hurts to drink. I'm not sure if my stomach is inflamed from possibly over doing it around the holidays.I'll be calling my surgeon today.

You did the right thing. You should not be vomiting on the band. that's not what the band was intended for, it's a tool and sometimes you have to adjust the amount of Fluid to find the right amount to feel good but yet restricted. It's different for everyone. Don't be afraid to ask for a fill now that your possibly in need of one. Your dr is probably expecting you to call for a fill soon since she thought your band was loose and even took fluid out. Time to put your big girls pants on and call her. That's what the dr is there for.

This has been a really rough weekend. To give you some background on what's happened. Thursday I went for a fill my fourth. that night I came home had a pickle and it didn't go well didn't eat again until the next morning. I had a yogurt which took me an hour to eat. I started having pain as the yogurt was going down. My abdomon was very tender. That afternoon I had a 102 fever I of course called the dr. he said to cone in the office to have Fluid removed. that's what I did. I no longer have the fever but my stomach feels very soar. every time I eat or drink it hurts. I have a very tender stomach right now feels as I did to many sit ups. I'm very concerned is this normal after being to tight. I'm going to call the dr tomorrow to let him know but any advice I can get here would be great
Can you drink water quickly?

BrianB, if it hurts to drink than your band it too tight. You shouldn't have pain taking sips of Water or any liquid. You could do more damage to yourself and success by being over filled. I've been filled to tight at times through this journey and it's not fun. Talk with you dr. to get to the right amount of restriction. You should be able to drink (not gulp) with ease, eat with ease (chewing your food to a paste consistency). If this isn't happening you run the risk of slippage, ulcer's, erosion etc. Best of luck and wishing you much success.
