    October Bandsters?

Hi! I went for my one week post op visit last night and everything looks good. I am being advanced to the "puree" diet for two weeks and will go back to the doc then. Everything I have has to be pureed to the consistency of applesauce and I get three meals a day in addition to three protein shakes a day. The puree meal will be 3oz (the size of three ice cubes). Again, it's not about the taste or the consistency but about the end results. Puree brings me down the road that much farther! They also corrected me on my start weight back in July which was actually 426 not 425 so I am down 56 pounds since my first visit with them and 35 pounds of that was since I started the two week pre-surg diet three weeks ago. I already have a project for the weekend... getting rid of my largest size clothes which are all too baggy on me! Moving on the the next size in my closet already! Woo hoo!

    October Bandsters?

Hi Everyone... went back to work yesterday (desk job) after being banded on Friday 10/12. Surgical sites didn't bother me much the first few days but by Monday, the gas began to give me some shoulder pain and pain under my rib cage. Glad I knew what to expect. It finally gave way last night in the usual manner and I am WAY more comfortable now! Will have my one week post op appt tonight (a day early!). I lost 25 pounds on the two week pre-op diet and now another 8 since surgery. One thing that is consistent with every bandster I know (friends, support group, online)... those who are successful follow doctor's orders to a T. They get in the mindset of knowing that the docs know what works and gaming the system is how we (I) got here in the first place. Do I love shakes and soups every day with no chewing? Not particularly but they are medicine and I am sick with a disease called obesity. I wouldn't consider not taking heart medication or cancer meds. I just keep focusing on the end result, a healthier me! Hope all goes well for those waiting to be banded!

Fallon, I'm in pain too. Was better in the hospital with the morphine drip. Kinda sore at home with the Tylenol with codene. Trying not to take it all the time because it makes me sleep but definitely more pain than I expected. Worth it but pretty uncomfortable right now. Better each day! Feel better soon! Fallbride

    October Bandsters?

Being banded on Friday at 7:30am. Just heard from the practice manager that I am approved by Aetna. Have to say that the surgeon's office team is outstanding to work with. Good luck to everyone being banded this week!

Can you try other shakes? I am on Unjury and LOVE them. Maybe a better tasting shake would help. JMHO...

    October Bandsters?

Had my upper endoscopy done yesterday and walked out of the procedure with my gastro's permission for surgery. Had my last surgical consult last night so I am all set for my surgery next Friday. Have not received approval for the surgery from Aetna yet but the surgeon's office swears they will have it in time and that I've done all I can do. Lost 21.5 pounds in the first pre-surg diet week. One week to go!

    October Bandsters?

On the pre-op diet since Friday and lost 20 pounds! This can't be normal! I am actually worried that I'm losing too fast. I was hungry the first few days and now, I only get hungry just before it's time to eat. Anyone else have this happen?

Not sure the diet has to do with being larger. I started at 425 (now below 400) and I am on the same pre-op diet as everyone else in the practice. However, if you have a BMI over 60 (I do) then you need to be on it for two weeks not just one. I can have protein shakes, sugar free jello, sugar free pudding, oatmeal, crystal light, decaf tea/coffee, salad and fat free dressing, etc. Anyone else have a moment where you think... "what am I doing?" and consider cancelling? I am all for the surgery and have done my research etc but now that it is so close, I am worried. Hoping this feeling goes away!
