  1. Hello all...its been awhile!!! Had my band done on 4/17. Went for 1st fill yesterday and oh what an ordeal! I always thought my port was high...but he stuck and stuck and pushed and pushed all around the port incision. Stuck me 5-6 times...kept felt like he was hitting metal ...then sliding off the side. He even tried it with me standing up. He never did get it...I have to go Tues and have it done under fluro. I just hope it isn't flipped. Today I look like I've been beaten.:cry Hope everyone is well!!

  2. I went in today for my 1st fill. Well...let me back up a bit. I had asked my Dr. at my 1 wk. follow up what i was feeling up high in my abdomen in the middle...he said that was my port. I was very surprised at the location. So today...at 1st fill...he stuck in and all around the larger incision...and couldn't get it. It felt like it was hitting metal...but no luck. I told him I thought it was quite a bit higher...so he stuck me a little higher....and still felt like metal hitting metal...but again no luck. He pushed and pushed and stuck and stuck. I'm soooooo sore. I asked if it could be flipped...he said its unlikely. so i go next week to have fill under fluro. Anyone else have something similar?:)

    Thanks....Shawnna

  3. Hey all!!! Sounds like everyone's doing pretty well <img src="http://www.LapBandTalk.com/images/smilies/happy.gif" border="0" alt="" title="" smilieid="60" class="inlineimg" /> I'm hungry again now also. Was nice for awhile to not be hungry anymore. At least I'm onto mushies now. But I seem to be stuck at 25lbs <img src="http://www.LapBandTalk.com/images/smilies/frown.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Frown" smilieid="2" class="inlineimg" /> I have my first fill scheduled for 5/23. I guess we just gotta hang in there!! Keep up the good work violets!!! <img src="http://www.LapBandTalk.com/images/smilies/grin.gif" border="0" alt="" title="" smilieid="57" class="inlineimg" /><br /> <br /> Shawnna<br /> <br />

  4. Laura - I was banded 4/17. It is my port. I actually thought I was feeling the band because it is so hi up...so I asked the Dr. at my 1 week follow up and he said..."no..you won't be able to feel the band...its way hi up...that's your port" I was very surprised at the location...and how close it is under the skin. He didn't seem to find it strange though.

  5. Kat - I'm sending lots of prayers....Hopefully things will turn around for your Hubby soon!!!!!!!!!

Tracy - Your incisions look great and I LOVE the band pics! Wish I would have thought to ask for those!!

General Question - Where is your port?? I expected (from the diagrams) for it to be down lower towards my side. Mine is a good 6 inches straight up from my belly button. I can feel it like a knob in there not to far at all under the skin. Does anyone else have this?? I didn't think it would be so close under the skin. Maybe its just swelling pushing it forward?? Feels like I could easily do my own fill at this point! haha...kidding of course :)

Oh...I also like the Shrinking Violets!!!!!!:biggrin1:

  6. Hey all...first GOOD LUCK to those of you getting your band in the next couple days!!!! :) Went to see the Dr. today for my 1 week follow up. Everything is looking good and I have lost 24lbs. (Including preop liquid diet). I am onto full liquids now. I had Tomato Soup for dinner tonight (which is my favorite) and I over ate. :phanvan I started to get the full feeling...but it tasted so good!!! So I pushed it a little farther... I should have known better...I felt awful for about a half hour after. Hopefully I can learn from that I guess.B)

  7. Hey Annie! I'm doing pretty well. Having some gas pains...and sore at some of the incision sites. At first it was very difficult to change positions...like sitting to standing. But now I'm getting up and down with very little discomfort. So far things are going well!! Where are you at in the process? Do you have your insurance approval and referrals? Nice to find someone close to home! :)

  8. Hey Jennifer - I'm trying to move around as much as possible...each day I'm doing better. Was able to get out and walk the dog some today. Still quite sore though. New Start has support groups that meet a couple times a month, educational classes (like dietary). So far they have been pretty good. How bout yours?? Nice to hear from someone close to home!!
