  1. Hello everyone! I have been researching for a few weeks now, and I'm very interested in getting the sleeve. I don't have insurance so I'm planning on saving up and getting it done in Mexico more than likely. My worries are the after care. If I get it what all follow up care would be required? With me not having insurance I won't be able to afford a lot of maintenance. Not only that, but what if complications occur and I get a leak or something? Would most doctors here in the US turn me away because I'm not their patient? Also, I have acid reflux already and I'm worried that if I go through with the surgery it may make it even worse... I know that I'm probably being a worry wart, but I would like other opinions.
  2. Overeatting* lol stupid auto correct
  3. I hope that I can find someone like that someday. They are hard to find that's for sure!
  4. Thank you! I never did get counseling, I just started drinking like a fool and not using my head. That was my way of dealing with it. I didn't stop drinking until I got pregnant with my little one who is now almost 3 years old. I believe that he saved my life but his "father" has nothing to do with him and he's pretty much abandoned him. So, that's just one more ordeal you can put in my list I guess lol
  5. I noticed that a lot of surgeons have summer specials. Is getting the surgery usually cheaper in the summertime? I'm having to save up for the surgery and may not be able to get it until next March or so, but I may hold off until next summer if that's when the deals are!
  6. I get mad at myself when I think about how I actually let myself get to this point. For most of my teenage years I weighed roughly around 150. I wasn't thin, but definitely not fat at all- even though back then I thought I was the fattest thing ever! I remember when I got out of high school, left my abusive high school sweetheart and moved across the country. I started going out just about every night, drinking all kinds of high calorie drinks and eating late at night. I packed on about 80 pounds in a year. I think that maybe I had post traumatic stress syndrome or something and that's how I was dealing with it. Now that I've gained the weight, I've tried and tried to get it off. I will lose at the most 30 pounds and I regain it back. I know that I can't do this on my own any longer. It's been ten years now and The scale goes up not down. I thought about looking into WLS years ago, but knew that I couldn't afford it. Someone just recently told me about going to Mexico for a fraction of the cost! That's what I intend on doing. I just have to save up and then I'm going! I'm scared out of my mind, but this has to be done.
  7. I think it depends on your BMI. If its lower, you probably won't have to do a pre diet. I believe.
  8. I got an email from Dr. Alvarez's coordinator and the cost for the surgery is $8,700. That's just a bit more than what I can afford.
  9. Do any of the doctors in Mexico perform the spider method? If you know of any that do, please share the information. I'm interested in learning more about this operation and how much it costs. Thank you
  10. I'm just wondering about how much each doctor charges for the surgery? I've gotten a few quotes, but would like to hear what others have paid. Thanks!
  11. Sunny, I'm so tired of shopping at plus sized stores. I don't care to be super thin like a model, but like you, I want to be able to wear "normal" clothing. I absolutely hate shopping for clothes right now. Instead of focusing on getting the clothes, I focus on how overweight I am and become severely depressed. A nice day out shopping turns into a freakin nightmare for me Lol
  12. Dottie, are you getting a revision or was that price just for the sleeve? Just curious. I'm really looking at OCC and Dr. Ortiz I know that he is pricier than some of the others, but when I look at his website and watch his videos I just feel completely comfortable with him for some reason.
  13. More than likely I'm going to have to save up the money and travel to Mexico for the surgery. I haven't officially made up my mind on the surgeon yet, possibly Dr. Ortiz. I'm still reading and comparing things.
  14. Rye... A very small town out in the middle of no where.
  15. Where are you from? And are you nervous about going alone?
  16. Congratulations on scheduling your surgery! I haven't scheduled mine yet, I'm still researching surgeons and trying to convince everyone that going to Mexico is a good idea! I haven't read to much on Dr. Lopez yet. I will check him out for sure though!
  17. I don't know why I don't really hear much about Dr. Ortiz on here? I've checked out numerous surgeons in Mexico, and I've read tons of feedback on all of them. Dr. Ortiz is definitely who I want to do my surgery
  18. I keep getting these 2 doctors confused! Lol I guess because the names sound similar... Idk.
  19. Thank you so much for your support! I'm a single Mother and I'm gonna have to save up for this all on my own. A few people have made remarks like, "don't you think all that money could be used on your son?" but what they don't understand is that I am doing this for my son, not only myself... I'm not doing it for some vain reason because I want to "look hot" or whatever. I want to be healthy and be around as long as possible for him
  20. So, I'm self pay and this may take a little while to save up for. I'm REALLY excited, and sometimes find it hard to sleep at night because I'm thinking about sooo many things. I've been researching doctors in Tijauna and getting lots of recommendations! of course I have worries, but I'm more excited than anything to get this done and get on with my life! I'm so tired of hiding behind this weight...
