Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
Also I loved water before surgery and now I feel like I'm about to vomit. Maybe I will stick to G2 gatorade.

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
Is anyone else cold? Since I've came back home I've upped the heat to 76 degrees, it was set at 74 for a while and even that was too warm for me. Now my feet feel cold and I'm shivering more. It's weird to sleep with the comforter on. I used to have a fan blowing on me but now it's too chilly for that. The good thing is that I don't mind snuggling with my hubby in bed, whereas in the past I would get mad because he made me sweat more. It's weird how things change after surgery. Time to put on some socks Oh and now I hate getting in the bed when it's cold.

My Husband Thinks I'm Copping Out
I don't know about anyone else but I know when I was laying in the hospital bed in pain barfing my brains out (not literally), I was envisioning someone coming up to me and saying " You (I) took the easy way out". I envisioned myself literally punching them in the face lol. IMO the easy way out would of been to remain obese or continue crash dieting, heck I could eat whatever I wanted. Of course weight gain sucks but remaining obese would of been a lot easier than having to change my diet through surgery and gosh don't make me vent about my recovery lol. Surgery was definitely my last attempt at losing weight and the thought of possibly dying and never seeing my kids ever again was by no means the easy way out. Unfortunately some people do die from wls and I'm pretty confident in saying that most people that end up having wls, they have years of crash dieting under their belt or yrs of trying to change there way of eating. *I have no idea what sent me on a tangent lol. I should be in bed* OP I wouldn't worry about convincing your husband or anyone for that matter of why you are having the surgery. This is your life and you have to do what you feel is right for yourself. He may change his view after you have surgery and start losing the weight or he may not. My husband seems very ENTHUSIASTIC about me losing the weight and I'm like huh? He seems over joyed with having me lose the weight but I guess he kept those feelings secret from me because I though he'd be scared of losing me if I became skinny lol. Men are weird

I'm Getting Sleeved Today!
Today is my 4th day post op and I feel amazing. My energy is back and I'm feeling back to normal and so happy that I have the sleeve. I've sat on the floor and played with my 12 month old, I'm sleeping better. I'm glad the fog has lifted and now I feel like I made the best decision of my life When I had the buyers remorse I knew it was normal because a lot of people posted about it but to all those people who are pre-op just know that it does pass and it gets better. Good Luck to all those who will be having surgery in the future

Lapband Vs Sleeve
The lap band didn't seem like a permanent surgery and I couldn't imagine having to live 20+ yrs with it in me. Plus I've noticed that most end up having to get revised to something different. I didn't want the gastric bypass because of the malabsorption and the dumping. If I want to enjoy a cookie or something with sugar, I don't want to be in pain. I felt like the sleeve will have me eating like a normal skinny person (small portions of food). Also I didn't want to have to take tons of vitamins or have constant iron infusions. Plus my surgeon said that he's removed more than he's put in and he prefers not to do them.

First Time Throwing Up- Did I Hurt Myself?
More than likely you are fine. I puked the day of surgery and the day after about 10+ different times. It was horrible and I was worried about ripping the staple line but thankfully I'm fine. Just learn from your mistake and take it slower next time

Gas Pain After Surgery
ARe you still taking pain meds and when did you stop taking them? If so then stop because they can slow down your digestive track and make it hard to get the gas out. The gas strips didn't work for me but I only took 1. Try drinking some water. I ended up passing my gas by farting and burping.

Sleeved 10/2
I was sleeved the same day as you and went through the depression phase. When I woke up I remembered thinking wtf did I do. I had a ton of regret but thankfully today I'm feeling better. I don't have a scale at home, so I have no idea what my starting weight was or if I've lost weight since surgery. I'm hating the liquid diet but they said I only have to do it for 1-2 weeks, I plan to test out some puree foods after the 1 week mark.

Pain Meds?
My surgeon sent me home with some percocets but I havent taken any since I HATE pain meds. Pain meds always cause me a ton of problems. I stopped all pain meds the day after surgery. The morphine was making me vomit and itch, so I said screw this lol and didn't touch the med pump after I figured out what was causing the vomiting.

Is This Dehydration? Can I Drink Enough To Hydrate Or...
Like the others have mentioned you have to make sure that you constantly sip on something throughout the day, I even wake up during the night to sip. I sip on gatorade because water just doesn't cut it and I need the electrolytes. Also sip on a protein shake. It takes me hours to drink a 8oz protein shake but just make getting in your liquids a priority and when you wake up during the middle of the night sip some more.

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
My shoulder was hurting a little yesterday but I don't have any gas pains today. I did take one gas strip about 2 days ago but it didn't really help. Today I don't have any gas pains and I'm feeling awesome, like I can do some housework and play with my crazy hijos (kids). You will be fine Also walking helps get the gas moving. My digestive track doesn't function to well when I take pain meds and I eventually find it hard to rid my body of gas. Once I stopped taking pain meds I was able to fart and burp and the gas quickly came out. I stopped taking pain meds at 1 day post op.

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
I got you all beat! I started my period the day of surgery lol. OMG it sucked so bad having someone change my pad for me and dealing with my blood on the bed constantly. I've been using tampons now that I'm home. Sleeping has been hard but I think it's because of my reduced calories and not being able to eat anything. I was able to get in about 60g of protein last night and it felt pretty good but it took hours, oh and I'm still breastfeeding so I have to make sure to get in some protein and lots of fluids. When I wake up during the night I drink my fluids, so I'm constantly drinking. I think I drank about 60 oz of fluids yesterday. I had to sleep with the humidifier on last night because I've had this annoying cough from the breathing tube. I was finally able to sleep for a good portion. I did roll on to my belly last night and it was a little uncomfortable but I've been partially laying on my stomach since coming home. Today I'm feeling great, I feel like the cloud has finally lifted from over me. My one incision is still a little sore but on a scale of 1-10 it's only a 1.

Anyone find themselves dreaming about food constantly? Gosh I'm thinking about some amazing recipes I can't wait to try in a few weeks.

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
I'm doing a lot better today. The hardest day was the 1st day because I woke up from general anesthesia without pain meds. The gas pains were unbearable. I vomitied a lot while in the hospital and I was so tired that all I wanted to do was rest. I came home from the hospital yesterday and I can't wait to feel at least 90% again. My stomach has been gurgling a lot, so I just took a Nexium pill to help get my stomach acid under control. My body feels like it's in shock because I went from eating over 2000 cals a day to now eating about 500 cals. I'm constantly cold and wearing socks around the house. Usually I'm like a oven but now I'm always shivering. The only incision I have is in my belly button and it doesn't bother me anymore. I drank about 2 Protein shakes today, so I've had about 40g of protein. I've also been sipping on gatorade through out the day, so I've had about 40oz of liquid (including protein shakes). I'm just taking it one day at a time

I'm Getting Sleeved Today!
Yup my surgeon did the single incision through my belly button and I can't even tell where he cut me. Most of the nurses couldn't even find the incision. The thing that caused me the most pain was the gas and vomiting. It was horrible but thankfully 4 days post op I'm not in any discomfort.

I'm Getting Sleeved Today!
I was sleeved on the 2nd and I was able to come home yesterday. I was nervous going into surgery but everyone helped calm my nerves. I remember waking up from surgery in the ICU thinking WTF did I just do. I was in a lot of pain right after surgery because they didn't give me any pain meds before they woke me up. I just remember groaning loudly and coughing. I also puked a lot after surgery. I probably puked about 10+ times and I was so worried about the staple line ripping open. Drinking the barium was awful and made me barf about 3 times. They gave me lots of anti-nausea meds but nothing was working. I stopped taking morphine the 2nd day because it would make me puke and itch. Gosh it made me itch so much and then they would have to give me benadryl to combat the itching. I definitely experienced the regret phase (buyers remorse) soon after the procedure and thankkfully I knew enough about this phase and that it's totally normal. I'm feeling better as the days go on but those early days out were not fun at all.

I'm Getting Sleeved Today!
I'm dealing with a flood of emotions but I'm remaining calm. I'm gonna miss my kids and husband but I told them this is my long overdue mini vacation lol. Keep me in your prayers plz I will try to update you all on how I'm feeling after the surgery but I'm expecting for it to be a fairly easy recovery. Have a good day everyone.

October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
I have to arrive at the hospital at 830a tomorrow. At least I will be able to send my kids off to school before I leave. I drank the magnesium about 3hrs ago and I've been shatting my brains out ever since. Gosh I pray that I will be able to sleep tonight and I haven't been able to trust a fart since drinking the magnesium :/

October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
I survived the all liquid diet yesterday and I drank abotu 3 protein shakes yesterday giving me a total of 75g protein yesterday and probably tons of carbs from the white grape juice. I'm drinking the magnesium around lunch time and I pray my 12 month old will go down for a nap so that I can hang out in the bathroom lol. I'm getting nervous about tomorrow but I'm pretty confident that I will be fine. Praying I don't have a panic attack while walking to the surgery unit. My husband is being very supportive and he gets a week off from work. Today I had to turn in my urine so they could do the routine pregnancy test. I'm praying I'm the 1st surgery of the day tomorrow. Good Luck everyone

October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
Good Luck everyone getting sleeved tomorrow. My surgery day is Tuesday and I can't wait. Today was the 1st day of my clear liquid diet and it sucks. I cooked a huge batch of jambalaya last night and my family is eating the leftover while I drink white grape juice :/ Thankfully I'm allowed to drink a protein shake if I need it and I've had 2 today because my blood sugar wasn't liking the simple carbs. I wont know my surgery time until tomorrow but I'm praying it's first thing in the morning.

Tomorrow's The Big Day.
I'm sure you're super excited. My surgery is Tuesday and I'm also excited but a little nervous about the recovery. Good Luck with surgery tomorrow.

October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
Sounds like something I will need once this journey is complete. I'm plan on skipping the tummy tuck and just going for the full body lift and I praying I don't need a arm lift but I probably will. Oh and I will definitely need a breast lift/reduction.

Sex
I can't wait to have skinny sex

I start the clear liquid diet tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to it but thankfully it's only 2 days. Surgery day is fast approaching :/

October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
Aww thank you They said I have to drink it by 2pm but I might drink it a little earlier because I don't want to be up all night, plus I want to at least rehydrate after it's over. I plan to pinch my nose and pray that I don't puke it back up. Thanks again
