I Started My Period Two Days Before Surgery - Is This Okay?
I keep track of my period with a iphone app and I'm supposed to get my period the day of surgery! That's gonna suck so bad to deal with period cramps during recovery. My cycles have been 30 days for the past 4 periods. Gosh it's gonna suck to wear a pad *sigh*

My surgeon didn't mention a flu shot and I haven't heard anything about the flu shot so far this year. My surgery date is fast approaching and I'm stoked!

October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
For all those thinking about the single incision vsg I found a very informative video that shows how they perform the surgery through the belly button. Here's the link: http:// www.youtube.com /watch?v=_B3FZBwOays It's kind of graphic FYI.

My surgeon knows how to do the single incision He told me that with the single incision he rarely puts in a drain, so more than likely I wont have a drain. I'm sure you will be fine and I'm also experiencing pre-surgery jitters.

Robotic Sleeve? Anyone
I just watched a video about it on youtube. I'm not having it done but I will be having the single incision surgery where they go through the belly button. I'm kind of scared of the robot thingy lol

Sleevers With Small Kids
Allie- how old is your son that you are nursing? I'm still breastfeeding but I'm weaning my baby girl before the surgery because I was having a hard time finding others who are nursing and having wls. I didn't think I'd be able to get in enough fluids and would dry up quickly from the surgery. My 11 1/2 month old is down to 4 feedings a day but today she's only nursed once. I haven't told my surgeon because I planned to have her weaned by this weekend. Let me know what your experience has been when it comes to nursing and the sleeve. I would love to continue but since I wasn't able to find anyone who has done it, I just assumed that it wasn't possible. Thanks

Sleevers With Small Kids
My youngest will be 2 days shy of 12 months old the day I go into surgery. My husband will be watching all 3 of our kiddos and my husband will be leaving for school a month after my surgery. I, just like all moms worry about the what ifs and it's my times to do something for myself. I can't keep putting off getting healthy. I do hope and pray that I don't experience complications and I'm just focused on staying positive. *I could of swore that I commented on this post a day or 2 ago

October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
I'm having the vsg on the Fort Carson Army base. He said the recovery tends to be easier. I have large breast and he said with the 5 incisions I would have a incision at the top of my tummy and I figured that would suck because my boobs rest on my belly where the incision would be. He's done several single incision surgeries and I'm confident that I wont have any problems. Plus he said that none of them developed hernias, so I'm confident that I more than likely wont either.

Single Incision Question
I'm glad I found this post because the single incision is exactly what I plan to get. My torso is short so I doubt he will have any problems. I am worried about the increased risk of hernia but he also said that I could get a hernia with the regular 5 incisions also. My surgery is in 2 weeks

I don't have a pre-op diet but 2 days before surgery I will have to drink clear liquids but if I get too hungry they said I can have a protein shake. The magnesium that I have to take the day before surgery will make me crap my brains out. I'm not looking forward to the magnesium and I heard it taste awful. My surgeon has been asking me what type of incision (5 incisions or 1 incision through the belly button). I plan to just have them go through my belly button because then I will only have to worry about 1 incision healing. He says it's mostly about anesthetics but he says the decision is up to me.

Not too much longer. I meet with the surgeon and the anesthesiologist next week. I'm sure they will give me the magnesium to drink and the soap to bathe with the day of and before surgery. I know the day of I will be extremely nervous but I'm sure it will be so worth it in the end.

Sleevers With Small Kids
I haven't been sleeved yet but I had 3 kids and my youngest will be 12 months old the day I get sleeved. My husband will be helping me that first week. I gave birth to our 3rd child was he was deployed and while the recovery sucked I learned that I can handle anything if I just take my time. A month after I get my surgery my husband will be leaving for training for about 6 weeks. I'm sure you will be fine just don't over work yourself

How And When To Tell Someone Your Having Surgery..
My husband has been very supportive so he was the first person to know that I was considering VSG. I told my mom who at the time seemed supportive, she in turn told my sister and I'm sure the whole family knows by now. I actually feel a huge relief because theres nothing to hide. I haven't really told anyone that I live around because it just never came up but if they ask me what I've done to lose the weight I will more than likely tell. I have made friends with others who are having wls and that's great because if we all go out to eat there wont be any pressure to finish our plate or order dessert.

I'm nervous also lol but I'm just so ready to get it over with. I'm wondering how much my sex life will change after the surgery, heck my husband can't keep his hands off of me now lol

October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
Skinnieminnie-I can't believe those people said that. I've also experienced the pain of words when it comes to my weight and it sucks so bad. My mom made a comment about my weight when I was about 17yrs old and it cut me to the core. People don't realize how hurtful words can be. I've been struggling with my weight for almost 10yrs. I'e cried on my husband shoulders many nights and I always hated being the fat wife in a group of friends. I'm really looking forward to this surgery also. I think my mom is a little jealous because she hasn't been texting me since I told her about me getting surgery and the one day that we did text she started unnecessary drama between me and my sister :/ I just know that I can't please everyone and I can no longer put my needs on the back burner

I also have tons of size 14s in my closet that I haven't worn in years lol. I'm currently a size 18. I'm looking forward to getting back into my skinny clothes and I'm praying even those will become big at some point. I would love to be a size 4/6.

Anyone Else Freaking About Hair Loss?!
I've experienced hair loss around the 4 month mark after giving birth to all 3 of my kids. It did suck and it mostly happened around my face but it did eventually grow back. I'm expecting the same type of hair loss after surgery and it's completely normal. The thing that worked for me was getting a shoulder length bob haircut with side swept bangs. No one even noticed that my hair was thinning a little and when I pointed it out most would shrug their shoulders like they couldn't even tell because they couldn't. You will notice the hair loss but most others wont. I have very thick hair and it was weird being able to see my scalp but it really wasn't that big of a deal looking back. You will be fine
