    When Do People Notice?

I was asked yesterday how much weight I've lost. I also exercise so I'm losing lots of inches. My husband just came home last night and was shocked at how much smaller I am, or how much I've lost in the last 4 weeks.

    Sex?

I think I had sex about 3 days after surgery, felt great

    How Bad Is It?

One time I made the mistake of eating one of those Atkin's low carb candy bars, they have lots of sugar alcohol in them and it had me running to the bathroom the whole night. Maybe try one of those. If I ever get backed up I will eat one of those. Also I use what thing called a "squatty potty". It lifts your knees up really high and it helps you poop in a more natural position. My husband thinks I'm crazy for using it but my butt is thankful
  4. Stomach flu was horrible last night. I'm feeling better now and rehydrating. Gonna avoid MFP and eat like a normal healthy person. Loving my sleeve

  5. You will do fine. I'm wishing you a speedy recovery
  6. I only had one incision (belly button) for my surgery and it itched so bad. I used a water bottle and would squirt water on it. I think the glue is what made me itch.

To Count Or Not To Count

I also found myself doing the same thing and I was miserable. I have MFP also and haven't used it today. My friend had the sleeve and she didn't count cals at all and lost her weight very quickly and reached goal by the 6 month mark but she only had 80 lbs to lose. She basically just ate like a normal person, her words of wisdom inspired me because I don't want to count cals for the rest of my life or spend my time obsessing. I guess I'm ditching MFP also. My husband commented that it was driving him crazy also hearing how anxious I was about keeping track.

To Count Or Not To Count

I eat mostly protein, heck right now I'm munching on a turkey breast (cajun flavor) I also eat fruit and that's where I get most of my carbs. My goal is to stay under 100g of carbs but I mostly end up between 40-70g. I also eat high fiber oatmeal with whole fat milk and that equals about 40g of carbs for just that one meal. My goal is to eat enough carbs to fuel my workouts. When my carbs were below 30g I felt so tired and it was hard to walk 2 miles. Now that I've upped my carbs I can run and not feel as fatigued as I was on the low carb. Also keep in mind that anything under 100g of carbs is considered low carb. I do feel as if I'm dieting when I'm counting cals and it's definitely a cycle that I want to avoid so probably in the next week or two I will stop or take a break.

To Count Or Not To Count

I'm 7 weeks post op and I've been counting calories for the past 2 weeks and averaging about 500-800 cals a day but I plan to up my cals to 1000 a day since I breastfeed. I also exercise 3 days a week. I don't know if I will continue tracking my cals because I do become obsessive but I will just play it by ear. I more than likely will stop tracking and focus on what the NUT tells me to do which is eat a balanced diet. She wants us to follow the plate method. I average around 47g of carbs and about 60-80g of protein a day.

    Strech Stomach

Those 2 links that you posted is what I believe to be true. I also believe that over time the stomach empties faster, which makes it possible to eat more soon after completing a meal. I guess the moral of the story would be to be kind to your sleeve and not over do it when it comes to eating.
  11. It seems like everyone around here has it. My daughters were puking all yesterday, thankfully by bedtime they felt better. I've been eating chicken noodle Soup and that's helping. Thankfully I haven't puked but even drinking Water sends me to the bathroom. I usually just ride it out
  12. I'm 5'3 1/4 and was sleeved Oct. 2nd. I don't have instagram. I weighed in at 230.8 today. The stomach flu struck hard last night and I found myself peeing out my butt and lost 6 lbs since yesterday morning. I guess it's worth it *shrugs* lol
  13. In colorado you wont need a medical card. Weed will be legal in june or july 2013 for those 21 and older
  14. I looked at the binder that my surgeon gave me and it says that it's best to avoid caffeine but if you do drink caffeine consider cutting back or drinking 8 oz of Water for every cup of coffee. It also said its best to avoid alcohol. I have no idea where I got the 3 months from but maybe that was my rule. I love coffee but I hate feeling like I need it every morning, so I plan to avoid it. Alcohol I plan to wait until I reach goal but ultimately who knows what will happen down the line
  15. I haven't smoked pot since I was 18 and that was 10yrs ago. I don't know how my doc feels about it. We live in Colorado where weed will be legal in June or July of next year. I plan to never smoke pot again but I'm past that age where stuff like that appeals to me and I have 3 small kids. As far as exercise my doc wanted us to walk ASAP, nothing strenuous until 6-8 weeks post op. I plan to lift weights this week for the first time since surgery and I'm 7 weeks post op. Caffeine I'm supposed to avoid it until 3 months I think and that's the same with alcohol. I haven't drank caffeine or alcohol and don't plan to until I reach goal. I don't want it to slow down my weight loss.
  16. This made me laugh lol I can't believe they would bring you caffeine and then tell you that you shouldn't have drank it.

    1 Month Out Calorie Ranges?

Thankfully that was only one day but yesterday I ate 80g of protein and 47g of carbs.....617 calories total yesterday. I don't think I'm eating enough, especially for a breastfeeder so I'm gonna try and up my cals a little. I've tried lowering my carbs but then I develop insomnia, become a total B****, and my exercise goes to crap. Oh and I drank 80 oz of Water. I mostly always reach my protein goals, except for that one day :/
  18. I'd take 40 lbs lost! I'm nearing 7 weeks post op.

    1 Month Out Calorie Ranges?

600-800 cals a day is usually what I get but a couple of days ago I think I ate around 300 cals because I wasn't hungry. I brisk walk 2 miles, 3 times a week. I started running on Friday and I've upped my carbs so that I can have a productive workout and push myself. There's no way I could start a running routine eating under 30g of carbs a day, so I eat around 40-70g, anything under 100g of carbs a day is considered low carb. I also start lifting weights next week. I'm almost 7 weeks post op. I'm also currently breastfeeding and supposedly that burns around 500 cals a day. ETA: On MFP you can log your breastfeeding and it says that I'm averaging about 500 cals a day when you subtract 300 cals for breastfeeding. Maybe this could explain my stall and why I'm so hungry some days :/

    Thrush

Yup totally normal. I develop thrush also after using steroids (not the HGH). I just eat yogurt and swish it around in my mouth. yogurt has probiotics and it helps get your bacteria back to a healthy level. If it's really bugging you swish some vinegar in your mouth and it will make it easier to scrape the white stuff off your tongue.

Another Reason Not To Tell People.....

I wish I wouldn't of told my family because it caused a lot of drama. I think my sister is now worried about being the fat one now that I'm losing weight. She wont speak to me at all now and we've never had a falling out like this one. I'm just going to give her space because I've tried talking to her the past 2 weeks and she refuses to speak to me. We live in different states so I don't see her but Im tired of trying so, maybe eventually she will come around...who knows.
  22. I weigh every morning and I have a love hate relationship with the scale. I keep track of my weight with a iphone app called "target weight" and it offers tons of tools. I do hate the ups and love the downs but I can't see myself NOT weighing everyday. My husband purchased the scale about 3 weeks ago *sigh*

    Can't Shake The Depression

I've been a emotional wreck since surgery and my husband has been my biggest support. I was talking to him today about me not being able to use food as a coping mechanism and not it's all flooding out. He's very understanding and over the past couple of weeks I've learned how to talk about whats upsetting me instead of trying to eat my emotions away. It is getting better everyday but I'm still learning how to cope. I will also admit that I'm scared to be skinny and all the attention it will bring. As much as I hate being fat, I'm scared of the unknown (being skinny). I'm not depressed but I do get anxious about the journey to losing weight. Maybe this is why I failed at weight loss attempts in the past, I was scared of having to face the issues that I have kept buried with food.
  24. OP that sounds like what I did and I'm still alive lol I started eating soft foods a week after surgery and didn't have any problems. I chewed my food to a puree and some docs want their patients to eat regular food asap. Not all docs require a post op diet filled with protein shakes and baby food OP you will be fine but if you're scared talk to your NUT.

    White Fuzzy Tongue?

Mine came from all the antibiotics at the hospital. It's normal. The meds they give you cause it and it took about 2 weeks for mine to fully go away. It's thrush and the best thing for it is yogurt IMO. Also if you put some vinegar in your mouth and swish it around the white parts will start coming off. Your Thrush isn't as bad as mine was, my whole tongue was white.
