    Not Telling People....

I guess it's a personal decision. I initially didn't plan on telling anyone except for close friends and family. Now that I'm sleeved and have had a text book recovery I'm not ashamed to say that I had the sleeve and I've talked about it a couple of times on my facebook page. If it wasn't for the honesty of this one lady that I met, I wouldn't of even know about the sleeve or that all you need is a 40 BMI to qualify. I guess I feel that if I can help a person in my situation then it's worth it
  2. To me sex has been the same. It's always been great. My husband knows what gets me to the big O and I know what gets him there also. We've been married for 9 yrs

    Loose Skin

I've been lifting 20 pound dumbbells in each hand for my biceps, triceps, and shoulders. My advice is to lift heavy, with good form and build the muscle. The more muscle you have the more fat you will burn but do this gradually. I'm hoping to avoid bat wings by doing this
  4. My husband thinks I've lost a ton of weight but I've really lost a crap load of inches. The good thing about exercising is even when you don't lose weight, you will lose a lot of inches. One time I lost 2 lbs but I dropped a pants size. I've also struggled with anxiety and exercise helps keep it under control, plus I'm less grouchy after kicking my butt. I prefer to walk/jog outside in the fresh air and sun. I lift weights once a week but I plan to up that to 2 days a week, and I'm upping my cardio to 5 days a week. I walk 3 miles about 3 times a week with my dog. I'm sure you can lose weight without exercise but you might end up with more loose skin, than a person who exercises. YOu don't have to kill yourself but being active is a good thing.
  5. Me three lol. I usually join around this time every year.
  6. I buy the powder and mix it with milk and I still get a dry mouth after it. I usually drink a large glass (14oz) of water after I finish it and that fixes the problem

    Question fot the Ladies

Laser hair removal is too expensive but I'm going in Thursday to get electrolysis on my chin hair Unfortunately I've grown tired of plucking and need something that's proven to be very effective. Of course it's a long process but from what I read the laser doesn't work well on dark skin. I had my wax today and it was a lot more painful than I remembered but she was very quick and nice.I always feel so insecure about my vag area, even though I've never had any complaints. It still feels weird having someone down there lol. *Drinking wine*

    Question fot the Ladies

I prefer trimmed and not shaved. Shaved is fine if you keep it shaved but the stubble (sp?) really hurts me, so I told my husband to trim. I shave but tomorrow I'm getting a brazilian wax.
  9. Just dyed my hair honey blonde! Feeling like a new person :) Blondes have more fun lol

    Must.Stop.Weighing.Myself.

Oh and I want to add that weighing everyday makes me want to eat junk, especially if I see the number is going down. I was good for self sabotaging. Now that I'm not weighing everyday my cravings are under control and I don't have the urge to pig out. The scale means different things to different people and it always tends to affect me negatively.

    Must.Stop.Weighing.Myself.

I've been obsessively weighing myself since surgery and after I weighed Friday I put the scale down in the man cave (basement) so that I wouldn't have to look at it. I haven't weighed since Friday and I plan to go back to weighing once a week. It feels good not to obsess over the number and I'm able to focus on living like a normal person. The problem with weighing everyday was the fact that I would have thoughts like maybe I shouldn't eat that salty piece of protein or if I drink this water after 10pm I might weigh more. Now that I don't weigh everyday I find myself wanting to drink more water late at night and not worrying about sodium. Also the fact that I'm exercising and losing inches, I realize that that's what I should be focusing on and not the number

    constipation

I use the equate brand fiber powder and it's been working great. I put it in my protein shakes and water. I'm still going every other day. I hate constipation because it always makes my butt bleed and it hurts so bad but now it's better with the fiber powder. I take it 3 times a day.

    Why low carb?

I don't count carbs but I think my carbs are under 100g a day. I haven't found low carb to help with my weight loss and I honestly feel like I stalled more when I was holding back on carbs, plus my workouts turned to crap from lack of energy. I experience several negative side effects from a low carb diet like insomnia, grouchy, depression, anxiety, paranoia, fatigue, etc. I've always had these side effects from very low carb and I've read that it screws with your serotonin but it doesn't affect everyone like it does me. The only thing I focus on is getting in my protein and my carbs naturally stay under 100g if I get in all my protein. I just want to eat as normal as possible, like a normal healthy weight person
  14. LOL the salty guy was a guy from my past (many years ago) and it was his pre cum that tasted salty which is kind of odd because usually precum doesn't have a taste but his did. It was like pure salt *barf*. I think that was my only bad experience though. My husbands doesn't have a taste
  15. Yup I had the food funeral and from my understanding all my friends did also the weeks leading up to surgery. I think all of us gained before surgery but none of us seem to regret it. I don't regret pigging out with my old stomach My surgeon doesn't require a pre-op diet and we didn't have to do the supervised diet. My way of eating has definitely changed for the better and I have no desire to eat till I'm stuffed or puking like some did after they were sleeved. I eat till I'm satisfied and then stop. I think without the food funeral I would of kept trying to over stuff my sleeve because I didn't get it out of my system.
  16. Gosh I never thought about this, probably because my husband has been gone since before Halloween (Army). I usually use a cough drop in the mouth if I'm going to swallow but that's because it makes the sperm taste very sweet. I've never been brave enough to do it without lol but he doesn't have a taste anyways......Thank goodness. This one guy tasted like pure salt *gag*. I personally don't think it will cause a problem for your new stomach because it's probably at most a tsp amount.
  17. I've heard of people getting a band around their sleeve but this was on the lapbandtalk.com website and it was a surgeon saying that he's seen it *shrugs*. I personally would rather get resleeved or get the DS. I would never get a lap band at all. I think Carnie Wilson got the lapband after gastric bypass, I'm not sure how that works either.

What is your definition of feeling full?

When I'm full I feel like if I burp, I'm gonna puke or spit up like a little baby. I've never been brave enough to continue eating after that point, I'm pretty sure I would vomit or feel like I was going to die.......not worth it.

At 11wks out what was your weight lost.

I think I'm about 11 weeks out or around it and my weight loss is in my ticker. Also a lot of the weight loss depends on your weight at surgery. People who weigh more tend to lose more weight early out. My surgery was on 10/2

    5 weeks out & only 21 lbs down :(

    Sounds like you're doing amazing
  21. I don't track my intake but I'm wondering if you're getting in your protein? I noticed that when I get in all my protein grams my cravings are nonexistent. Protein is important because you burn a lot of calories when your body tries to process it. I think you should go back to the simple rules of protein first, 60+g of protein, drink lots of water, limit carbs, and exercise. I follow those simple rules and have been losing steadily. I drink 2 protein shakes a day (66g of protein). I still eat carbs but I keep them under 100g a day and I've learned that it doesn't have to be anything drastic like 40g or less, unless you can handle it.

How long did the Nausea last

My nausea went away when I stopped taking my pain meds. Pain meds make me vomit after a while so as soon as I stopped I didn't puke after that.

    stalls?

I'm not saying that protein can cause a stall but I upped my protein to 60+ grams a day about a week ago and in that time I've lost 3 lbs. I was probably getting about 20-40g before I upped it. I now drink 2 shakes a day and that gets me up to 66g of protein and then I continue to eat protein during the day, so I probably end up around 80g. The only downside is constipation and I've been taking about 2-3 colace a day and drinking lots of water. My cravings have also disappeared once I upped my protein. I drink isopure and it's 50g of protein for 2 scoops and only 2g of carbs

    Best protien shakes?

Isopure=2g of carbs, 210 cals, 50g of protein, and zero grams of sugar. I buy the dutch chocolate powder and it taste really good. I drink 2 a day and mix it with milk which also adds protein.
