    Alcohol After Surgery?

The binder that the surgeon gave me it said to avoid alcohol during the first 3 months after surgery but I'm gonna try my best not to drink alcohol the first year because I don't want it to slow my weight loss.
  2. Nope, I can't do it. My baby girl is almost 12 months old and I tasted her baby food and it was disgusting! As a matter of fact she doesn't even like it because of it's lack of flavor. She'd much rather eat the foods that I eat and I chop it up very small for her. Like others have said there are plenty of other options out there such as cream soups, blenders, etc.

    How Many Insisions ?

It depends. Some surgeons use 1 through the belly button and some use 5 incisions. I'm getting the single incision through the belly button, I think it's called SILS. Good Luck
  4. I have 3 kids, my son has autism, and my youngest will be 12 months old when I go in for surgery. I worry about the possibility of dying also but I have to do this for me. My kids deserve a healthy mom who has energy and wants to go out and do outdoor activities with them. I'm dreading the recovery but I know that this is something that I have to do for me.
  5. Wow 30 pounds in 3 weeks! That's awesome

    October Sleevers

RJ-I'm sorry to hear that. I can't sleep when I'm hurngy and when my blood sugar is low I can't sleep until I eat something. I don't have a pre-op diet unless you count the 2 days of Clear liquids I have to do the day before surgery. I'm not looking forward to it but it's only 2 days for me. I'm glad that I don't have to drink Protein shakes because they make me constipate :/

    Hispanic/latino Sleevers?

Looks like I'm the only Cuban lol My mom is Cuban and my dad is black. I'm really dreading not being able to eat spicy food and rice I heard the rice will expand in your stomach and spicy food may come out like flames lol I love adding serranos to everything and I probably will have to cut back on things that add heat for a while.

The process has been about 7 weeks for me. Things tend to move very quickly on the Army base and they don't require a 6 month supervised diet. I haven't had a endoscopy or any xrays but I still have one last appt on the 27th and who knows what test they may run on me lol.

    October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

for some reason I couldn't find this thread earlier, maybe my computer is screwing up lol Speaking of the belly button cleanliness, I have to admit that I sometimes forget to clean it. I will surely try to remember to do that when I'm in the shower because I do plan on having the one incision through my belly button. Oh I just now noticed why I wasn't able to find this thread, they moved it *slaps head*

^^^That's when my surgery is I'm also nervous but I know that this is my only way to get healthy because I've never been able to lose weight in the past no matter how much I try :/ I'm not looking forward to the recovery but if it's anything like childbirth I'm sure I will be fine

    Yay another Army wife!
  14. I keep track of my period with a iphone app and I'm supposed to get my period the day of surgery! That's gonna suck so bad to deal with period cramps during recovery. My cycles have been 30 days for the past 4 periods. Gosh it's gonna suck to wear a pad *sigh*

My surgeon didn't mention a flu shot and I haven't heard anything about the flu shot so far this year. My surgery date is fast approaching and I'm stoked!

For all those thinking about the single incision vsg I found a very informative video that shows how they perform the surgery through the belly button. Here's the link: http:// www.youtube.com /watch?v=_B3FZBwOays It's kind of graphic FYI.

My surgeon knows how to do the single incision He told me that with the single incision he rarely puts in a drain, so more than likely I wont have a drain. I'm sure you will be fine and I'm also experiencing pre-surgery jitters.

    Robotic Sleeve? Anyone

I just watched a video about it on youtube. I'm not having it done but I will be having the single incision surgery where they go through the belly button. I'm kind of scared of the robot thingy lol

    Sleevers With Small Kids

Allie- how old is your son that you are nursing? I'm still breastfeeding but I'm weaning my baby girl before the surgery because I was having a hard time finding others who are nursing and having wls. I didn't think I'd be able to get in enough fluids and would dry up quickly from the surgery. My 11 1/2 month old is down to 4 feedings a day but today she's only nursed once. I haven't told my surgeon because I planned to have her weaned by this weekend. Let me know what your experience has been when it comes to nursing and the sleeve. I would love to continue but since I wasn't able to find anyone who has done it, I just assumed that it wasn't possible. Thanks

    Sleevers With Small Kids

My youngest will be 2 days shy of 12 months old the day I go into surgery. My husband will be watching all 3 of our kiddos and my husband will be leaving for school a month after my surgery. I, just like all moms worry about the what ifs and it's my times to do something for myself. I can't keep putting off getting healthy. I do hope and pray that I don't experience complications and I'm just focused on staying positive. *I could of swore that I commented on this post a day or 2 ago

I'm having the vsg on the Fort Carson Army base. He said the recovery tends to be easier. I have large breast and he said with the 5 incisions I would have a incision at the top of my tummy and I figured that would suck because my boobs rest on my belly where the incision would be. He's done several single incision surgeries and I'm confident that I wont have any problems. Plus he said that none of them developed hernias, so I'm confident that I more than likely wont either.
