Congrats! I only lost 8 lbs on my pre-op diet. What is onderland?

I'm shocked that you suggested ice cream after WLS. Ice cream/froyo is not on the post op diet. None of us should be eating ice cream period.Try sugar free ice cream, gazpacho
Soup, low fat frozen yogurt/sugar free, etc.

Boil ginger in Water and drink the ginger water it will help alleviate nausea!Day 3 not so awesome. I've had nausea for the first time today and a horrible pressure in my sternum. Like I can feel the band restricting or spasm, not fun

I'm really surprised to hear that people are hungry after surgery. I had so much gas pain (it felt like I had (a cow and piano on my chest) plus the pain at my incisions. My insides hurt. I didn't take any pain killers.

The night of my surgery I took 2 tsp of liquid vicodin to fall asleep and I woke up screaming in the middle of the night. I felt a pin prick in my foot as if someone had an injected my foot with a needle. Turns out I was hallucinating. After that episode I decided to take only tyelnol and motrin but found that Tylenol doesn't work. I'm a full time student and wanted to go back to school 2 days after surgery. I was in no condition to go to school I was in so much pain. I don't have class on Mondays so I will go back to school on Tuesday.

1. Banded 4 days ago when I can sleep on my stomach or side? I've been sleeping on my back for 4 days and I wake up with lower back pain every morning.
2. I've been coughing a lot and it feels like I have a hair or tickle in my throat. What is this? Is my esophagus inflamed or irritated from the anesthesia?

I was banded 4 days ago liquid motrin and gas ex have been my savior! The first 2 days were ROUGH! I was miserable in pain and couldn't sleep through the night. My advice to you is to WALK! The first day I walked around my apt in circles it really helped with the gas pressure. Today is the first day that I have minimal pain more like discomfort. I started taking walks on the 2nd day and having been getting better and better each day.

I have my surgery on the 27th and my pre op diet is VERY strict. Liquids only, Protein Shakes, clear broth, Popsicles. I've got 5 more days!
ME TOO! Same pre-op diet 2 days to go!!!!

I've been a liquid diet since since 9/11 (1000 calories a day) haven't cheated at all and I don't feel like I've lost a lot of weight. I'm kinda of discouraged, I'm going to be banded in 2 days.

It tastes OK, I just don't like the consistency. Is there anyway to make it thinner?

I'm on day 9 of 14 day liquid diet consisting of 1000 calories. I drink EAS Myoplex Light in french vanilla when I'm on the go and Proto whey by BNRG in double chocolate. This Protein doesn't make me feel bloated. I only add Water to my shakes and mix in blender. I live alone and avoid eating with people so it's been easier than I thought it would be.
The Baratric Advantages shakes are gross and too thick. I also have soup- I add cauliflower, carrots, zucchini to 6 cups of Water and add 3 tbs of Osem power to the water. This low calorie veggie Soup is very filling. I also have sugar free popsicles (15 calories).

I'm on day 9 of 14 day liquid diet. I don't like the BA shakes vanilla is very thick and gross imo. I LOVE Proto Whey by BNRG in Double chocolate it's delicious, the best Protein Drink I've ever tasted! Add Water to it and It tastes like a milkshake! I also like EAS Myoplex light in french vanilla.

Prinxs, it's OK. Forgive yourself you're human. Today is a new day.

Think about the safety of the surgery this is what is making me stay on the straight & arrow. I don't want to do anything to jeopardize the safety of the surgery. The first two days are the hardest, drink a ton of Water.< /p>

DO NOT chew gum the artificial sweetners cause hunger! Soup/broth will fill you up. The first two days are the hardest! I'm on day 9 of 14 day liquid diet and I"m not even hungry. It's easier than I thought. What is keeping me 100% compliant is the safety of the surgery. I haven't cheated at all.

I have a month to change my mind as I can cancel the surgery up until the day before. After I set the date the surgery became very real. I've been researching lapband surgery for quite some time now and I'd rather be fat then disconnect or remove 85% of my stomach. I have done tons of research reading the success stories and the horror stories. I'm skeptical about the lifespan of the band and if it is really permanent. It is not designed to be temporary yet people are having them removed after 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10 years. I think I need to stop reading the life after lapband removal board. It is normal to be scared and cautious about any surgery. I don't have any health conditions and am self pay so its pretty much elective.

Hi everyone,
My surgery date is Sept 25th and I'm having serious reservations. A friend of mine told me two of her friends are having their bands removed and my aunt's friend has the band for one year is miserable, her band is opened and she can't eat any solid food. I'm a self pay patient and I'm concerned that the band will one day eventually have to be removed due to erosion or slippage. The cost to remove the band is the same cost to install the band. I've been lurking around the life after lapband removal board to discover why people are having their bands removed. I don't know if these bands are really permanent or just good for x amount of years until they slip or erode. I'm scared that I will be one of the one's that has complications and has to have their band removed and gain back all the weight. I'm also scared of having 1 surgery let alone two surgeries. Any feedback is appreciated.

Did you tell your sponsor and fellows? OA shuns WLS, liquid diets etc. I don't think my sponsor and fellows will be supportive of WLS. I welcome any feedback and experience, strength and hope!
Thanks!

Thanks guys! NYU requires psychologist, nutritionist visits and 2 week liquid diet. The surgery gives me hope! I've been sitting on the side lines of life for too long.

Hi Everyone,
I'm going to a seminar at NYU on Monday and am wondering how soon I can schedule the surgery? Anyone a self pay patient that got banded at NYU Langone medical center?
Thanks in advance!

Eating/drinking ice cream after WLS totally defeats the purpose of having the surgery IMO.

I'm 7 days post op and my pouch def holds more than 8 oz of liquid. I can drink a cup of tea, 1 Protein Shake and a cup of Soup at 1 meal. The only instructions I was given is to drink 6-8 oz of fluids daily no caloric limits or quantities of how much soup to have. I drink as necessary.
