    Stomach cancer

You know what they do for people with stomach cancer? A Rous en Y! If I'm not mistaken, that was how it came into existence in the first place. So no worries! A sleeve can easily be converted and you'll already know how to eat and everything! Better yet, think about how terrific your sleeve is going to be and how FABULOUS you are going to look!!

Am I A Success or Failure?

Just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you!
  3. Nice! A hot anesthesiologist! All the more reason to get skinny! = D Congratulations to you!!
  4. Thanks for the laugh! Some really depressing threads here today! I leave mine in the same place and am happy to say I now only weigh myself once a week! Oh happy days!!!
  5. I have posted many times here that Attitude IS Everything! You are taking a big step toward reclaiming your life. Give that all the value it deserves. My sleeve surgery was so easy. I was up walking laps around the hospital wing within a couple of hours. Quickly got off the morphine and was headed home in less than 2 days. Do everything they tell you and you'll be off to a great start. Having this surgery was truly one of the BEST decisions I have ever made for myself. I'm 15 months out and have lost 104% of my excess weight! How's that for positive!?! All the best to you soon to be "Newborns"!!

  7. Was it bright red or brownish red? if it was bright red you should check with your doctor. Brownish red could just be bile. A basic Rule of Thumb, When in doubt, check it out!! = )

    So depressed

I am so sorry to hear you are struggling. First of all, you are NOT alone. You can come here any time to find comfort and support. Its hard in the beginning, but it really does get better especially when the weight starts to fall off! The first thing you should do is try to change your attitude. You can not go back. You can only move forward. If you focus on the negative, you will only feel worse. Start looking at the positive things this surgery will do for you. I am 15 months out and have lost 104% of my excess weight. I had a major complication which led to a second surgery and minor complications as a result of the second surgery. Would I do it again? Faster than you could blink your eyes!! I was able to succeed because I kept a positive outlook. I kept telling myself that I Am Strong! I Can overcome the problems! And I did. In order to achieve, you must believe! When you start feeling down, go to Pinterest or a fashion website and look at all the cute/sexy clothes you're going to be able to wear. Think of all the activities you will be able to do but couldn't before because you were too heavy. Plan ways to reward yourself when you achieve certain weight loss goals, 25 pounds, 50 pounds etc. You have to be your own cheerleader. Don't waste your energy on something you can't do or can't have back. Look to the future. Where I am now, I can eat almost anything I want. I just eat a LOT LESS! And there are a lot of things I can eat but choose not to. I spent most of my life living to eat. I then made the choice to eat to live, and a wonderful thing happened. Food lost its importance to me. Things I didn't think I could live without, rarely tempt me anymore. All because I changed my mind set. You can too! It just takes practice like anything else. So hang in there! Here's wishing all of you who are struggling my very best!
  9. Thank you O.T.R. sleever for the "sleeve specific" calculations! I was trying to find them online but couldn't find a reliable source. So grateful for this site and its monitors!!
  10. NewMe48, WHO told you to increase your protein to 160g per day? That is wrong for weight loss and is a recommendation for body builders who already have little to no excess body fat and put a tremendous demand on their muscles daily. If you want to look like the Incredible Hulk some day, then sure. Right now, your body can't handle that much protein, especially your kidneys. You seriously need to consult with your doctor or QUALIFIED nutritionist before you try something so extreme. The National Institute of Health has a simple calculation to determine how much protein the average person needs, and it changes as your body changes. It is: .8 g per 1 kg or 2.2 lbs of weight. As WLS patients we do require more because we can't/shouldn't consume enough calories to balance out our needs. That's why the Protein First rule is so important. At 3 months you should be getting 60-80 g per day. You also need good carbs, fruits and veggies to give you some quick energy and get the fat burning going. Protein alone for too long or too much will damage your kidneys and liver. Which is why the want us drinking plenty of water to keep them flushed out. Please! Take Care!!

    Immediate food nausea.

Your tastes can change after WLS and something you used to love is just gross and gags you. With the cream swirled in, it may have been a little too thick. I love Costco's Premier Protein now but right after surgery, I couldn't get it down and its not all that thick. I also had trouble with plain nonfat milk. It would make my stomach go into spasms. I didn't have trouble with any other dairy products, just the milk. I have no clue why. Give it time. Try one new thing a day so you know which things don't agree with you. It will get better!!

    Akward chest pain

i pulled things a couple of times, mostly just stretching too far puts a tug on the incisions. If it feels better I wouldn't worry too much. Just pay attention for things getting worse and tell your sweet baby Mommy has to take care of herself for a few weeks and just give him hugs without picking him up!

    Relaxing on the 30/30 rule?

I think it depends on the individual. 30/30 worked for me in the early stages but now even 15 months out, I have to wait 60 minutes after. I digest slowly and there is no way I could put anything else in my sleeve if I've eaten regular food.
  14. WLS definitely requires patience. Remember to only try one new thing at a time so you know which thing doesn't agree with you. The tightness in your chest could be from eating too much or too fast so try to take Tiny bites at first. Using baby silverware helps remind you. Just try a bite or two to start with. Your tummy hasn't had solids for a few weeks so it does want to revolt a little. Remember to watch the fat and sugar content because they are harder for your new tummy to digest. Hang in there. It does get better!!

For people who have a apron

We are the same height and started at about the same weight. Give it some more time and some of that will "pull" up. You are still a newborn at 2 months. Stretching and toning exercises help!

    No bowel movement ...

Drinking more Water helps. You can use a stool softener. Docosate Sodium (Colace is the brand name) but do not use the kind with stimulants, Senna or Senosides, because they are habit forming and can cause permanent nerve damage. Any stimulant laxative will. Things like Miralax should only be used on occasion and after trying milder options. Here is what my Dr. recommended.

    Immediate food nausea.

Curious, which end? Dumping syndrome doesn't usually hit that fast. Are you sure you didn't just overload? Good lesson tho. Try only one new thing at a time so you know what doesn't agree with you and always try it at home!

    newbie!

Congratulations!! Just take it easy except for light walking. It improves your circulation and will help you heal faster. Plus it also helps the gas in your abdomen to dissipate. And Sip, sip, Sip that liquid!! = )
  19. Is there an incision there? If so, you probably just tore it a little. Just like opening any other healing cut. Not much to worry about unless it swells, turns red or oozes. But as always, When in doubt, Check it out!!
  20. You need to have an option of "Zero"! = )
  21. I agree with Stef and LipstickLady. Annoying as it is, you need to wait. Then you can use Neosporin until it heals and Vitamin E will minimize the scars. Good luck!

    Outer thigh numbness

Sounds like a pinched nerve. Have you tried doing some stretching? The "hang" works great for me. Bend at the waist the best you can and let your arms hang loose toward the floor. It stretches and decompresses your spine. Hope you feel better!
