  1. LOL I'm iffy sometimes too.... Your group number tells BCBS what policy you are under. No different than if they had a policy a, b and c, they instead have policies with numbers. Mine is about five numbers listed on my card. When I call or go online I enter it or tell them that number so they can check my coverage for certain things (ie this surgery which mine did not cover). There are hundreds of variations of BCBS in just one big city, let alone a state. So you really have to know YOUR coverage, not just a general coverage by BCBS of your state...that won't answer your questions.
  2. Darling you sound just as I was before my long hospital stay Chest pain and nausea, weakness, diarrhea...darling please call your husband home from work, or call someone else and get to the ER right now. Please. I was hours away from a really bad out come....Please go now! If I was near you I'd be coming to pick you up myself. I'm ready to call 911 for you.
  3. Are you insured through your employer? If so, each employer may have different rules than another. I"m BCBS of AK but we own the company and make the rules (within the rules of our state of course). Many BCBS plans are like this. Your group number is basically a number they assign to your employer and it identifies your plan. If you just pay for BC on your own without an employer you would still have a group number on your card.
  4. honey I don't know your whole story but you sound like me when my lungs were filling with Fluid...have you had xrays lately? You mentioned IV and TPN so I assume you are having complications... I didn't get a quick enough reaction and it almost killed me. Please please please get your surgeon on the line and have them order tests as necessary through the local hospital. Say you are short of breath and the er will take you without waiting. The weakness was another symptom I had from day one. Please....I'm worried for you. Is hubby home soon? You need to get seen hun!

  6. there is that too...but being a brain surgeon and miss america (I'll be attending college in the future likely and just need to get my bumm into swimsuit shape before I'm sure to be crowned...) i wasn't going to point that out..... ;p
  7. so ya just want to focus on this one? are you by chance working for another doc? i mean it seems a bit odd, that you are so focused you would call complete strangers and get their stories as part of your research....how did you even know who to call given you haven't been reading accounts on the net? you cant have called any lawyers clients, that could get you disbarred before you were even in the test room.....

  11. I would see if there is a band forum through the weight loss surgery system (if someone knows they will post it) It seems I joined it early in my search for the correct procedure for me then i moved here. yes you should post it there. people need to hear the good and the bad. we learn lessons and we learn about what to follow for by reading them. I wrote my story as it was happening. From the beginning when they thought it was just internal bleeding to the end (actually im not at the end as i have three more weeks til i test to see if my leak was successfully repaired). I posted when i thought i was going to die and when i faced difficult decisions I posted my frustrations here. I sobbed out how much I missed my baby at home (who is turning 7 in two weeks and would smack me for calling him a baby LOL) and my fears. But when it came time to make a decision to remove it (because the doc was bothering alex) I decided I'd read it, print it, and then he could remove it. I understand why it was so hard to type your story. I couldn't get past the first ten pages (it was at 40 something with all the support I got...not to mention it had been 45 days). I couldn't relive it through reading what I'd written. But my story was valuable as is yours so I'm glad you shared it, and I'd encourage you to share it where it can really help people who are in the band forums.
  12. watch for all of this (low grade or high fever) You can develop a leak and shoulder pain is a sign (left). if you get more tired, weaker, any vomiting....get a leak test immediately. Delay can kill you (it nearly did me)
  13. Actually I posted my horror story (removed because it was causing the good doc stress) here and the support I found was amazing. I would highly encourage you to post it over there. People need to know the possibilities. I know I made a couple of people really think about the timing of their surgery and helped a few people via pm plan for the worst...putting a network in place just in case which I hope they never need. I had a great deal of negative things to say about my decision to have the sleeve and still do, and yet in general I found great support here in the sleeve forum. Would you freak people out? Yes, but you might also help someone as well as they make their decision. There is nothing wrong in doing that! I am still waiting to find out if I will need more surgery. I know you still have a road to travel too. It sounds like you are facing this with great strength. I wish you the best!
  14. LOL I see the word "to" up there If you download My Fitness Pal and input your goals (I have 600 cals and 60 G Protein, The rest I don't worry much about). (do the custom adjustment online) then for grins and giggles enter your exercise on a regular day of food. You will see it adjusts your food allowances, carbs, calories, etc to reflect the amount of energy you use up while exercising. For successful weight loss you just can't exercise off 800 calories and only eat 700. You'll stall like a stubborn donkey. This is what you've been doing basically. You're wasting all that hard work
