  1. Chubbola,

I am an ex-diet coke addict. I was banded on March 14. I drank my last diet coke the day before surgery and haven't had any since. It was a good way to give it up because with all the pain meds after surgery, you don't feel the headaches you usually get when you try to get off the stuff!

I'm not going to lie, I've probably had 3 times in the last month where I would have killed for one, but I just tell myself I don't have a choice and get a Propel, Crystal light, Gatorade or Water. The craving goes away!

    Good luck with your surgery!

    Julie

  2. Hi Sandy,

Finally someone else from UCI, you're the first one I've seen. Mabye we can meet up at a seminar, I'm planning on going to the one in April. Dr. Naim did my surgery, but I have met Dr. Nguyen. I love the Dr.'s, but the hospital experience wasn't that great. I did meet someone else from Anaheim Hills(she was my roommate!) in the hospital. She was banded by Dr. Nguyen 3 years ago and lost 130 lbs.! Her band slipped, so she had to have it fixed. Small world, since I live in Yorba Linda.

Are you sick of the diet? I'm getting tired of it and still have 12 days to go!

    Keep in touch!

    Julie

  3. I am now 8 days Post-op and 8 days no diet coke!!! I've had 2 or 3 Strong cravings. At least I missed out on the caffeine headaches since the first few days after surgery I was drugged up!

My brother had gastric a few years ago and he was a diet coker, he said that he took a sip a few months after surgery and it tasted terrible!

I just have to accept that my diet coke days are over along with obesity and my bones and teeth will thank me, too!:)

  4. Hi,

I was also banded on 3/14. I feel the same way. It is a tramatic experience and now there are lots of changes to get used to. I haven't been too hungry because of pain and nausea. I'm sure it will get worse. We just need to lean on as much support as we can get.........from this board, your Dr.'s support group and family and friends.

I got lucky, the girl in the same room as me in the hospital was banded 4 years ago, lost 130 lbs. and was in because her band slipped. At first I couldn't believe I was in with someone that had complications! But it turned out to be the best thing ever, we talked all day about her experiences. She gave me so much good advice. The best being, "no matter what I have been through, it was the best thing I've ever done and would do it over again tomorrow!"

    Stay Positive!

  5. It's finally here! Hello all the March Bandsters! I am killing some time because my surgery was supposed to be at 12:00, but it got bumped back to 2:45 because of "traumas". I understand, but I am anxious to get it over with. This no Water on the day of surgery is killing me. :(

I'm so glad this day is here! I hope everyone has a great few days, I'll ck in on the other side!!! :)
