    Smirnoff/Carbonated Drinks

Yes - the Smirnoff Ice drinks are carbonated. I would stay away from them. I was told no alcohol for a year...so I'm just staying away from everything for now.

    Pain & Sleep

I did the recliner thing for 2 weeks, then moved to bed with a bunch of pillows.
  3. It all depends on the kind of job you have. I went back after 3 weeks, but I mainly have a desk job. I probably could have done it in 2, but my energy was pretty low. Everyone is different though. I have a friend who had her surgery on a Tuesday and was back teaching the following Monday. Just listen to your body and your surgeon!

    Ulcers?

I am just a little over 7 weeks post-op. I went to the surgeon's office yesterday - been having terrible pain the last several days when eating and/or drinking anything, including plain water. In between, it basically felt like someone had punched me in the guy, or that sore stomach feeling you get after throwing up a lot. The PA put me on a new PPI (dexilant) and also something called sucralfate which is supposed to coat the painful areas and allow them to heal. Has anyone else had this happen? If so, how long did it take for you to feel better?

    Ulcers?

Headed for an EGD on Tuesday because the meds are not helping...surgeon wants to see what's going on in there.

    What to buy?

Liquid Tylenol, sugar free Popsicles, and I liked the Syntrax nectar fruit flavored protein shakes - went down way easier than the thicker milk based ones. I used 16 oz water plus ice and they literally saved me for the first 3 weeks.

    Too much protein and water?

That's great! I struggled to get in my 60g of protein the first few weeks, and still struggle with my liquids almost 8 weeks out...

    Left side pain

I had that problem until some internal stitches finally dissolved and let go. Nurse said it was perfectly normal.

    Best non-scale victory

Definitely having to ask for a smaller size when clothes shopping...inching closer and closer to being out of the plus size section!

    I feel broke and stupid!

Don't feel stupid by any means. This is all new to you, and the whole process is a learning curve. I'm almost 8 weeks out and still figuring out what and how much to eat and drink. It's really all about listening to your body, which is exactly what you're doing. The first few days especially, worry more about fluid intake than protein. You're lucky to have a one week follow up - my first visit wasn't until 3 weeks. They got a few phone calls from me, and I spent a lot of time here. Just take it slow and steady, and you'll be fine!!

    Laying flat to sleep

I slept in my recliner for the first two weeks - I'm a side sleeper and I found laying down to be very uncomfortable. Everyone is different though...
  13. Took about 4 weeks for that to go away for me...

    Sooo hungry!

You can also flavor the plain yogurt with sugar free seedless jam/preserves. I did that with blackberry and raspberry and it was great!
  15. I've been "closet shopping" too - feels great!!

    Best Flavor Nectar for Water

Fuzzy Navel, Roadside Lemonade, Lemon Tea, Caribbean Cooler - I'm 8 weeks post op and still use them. I mix with 16 oz water and some ice. Saved me during those first 3 weeks when I couldn't take any more vanilla or chocolate!!

    food tricks

I've used sugar free seedless jam...works great!
  19. I'm 7 weeks out today, and started getting a stomach ache yesterday morning. I thought maybe it was something I ate, so I didn't eat anything for a while and tried again. Today I went back to all liquids, and I still have a stomach ache and it's worse when I drink anything - hot or cold. It's not a right side pain - like what I assume gallbladder would be, and it's fairly constant. Ideas? I'm going to try calling my doctor's office after their lunch break.

    Tummy ache...

Spoke with my doc's office - liquids only today and tomorrow, doubling my Nexium, and she'll see me in the morning.

can i start the elliptical yet?

My doctor said I was fine as along as I didn't feel any pain. I was doing elliptical at 2 weeks, and was back doing Zumba at 3 1/2.

    Stupid stall

I'm 7 weeks out too - and I just broke a stall that lasted almost 3 weeks! Hang in there!!
  24. I stalled for a couple of weeks too...back to losing again! 7 weeks out today.
