thank you all for your support! Today I went swimming, biking and running. Although for a short period of time, I still have 4 months to get ready for my first tri, and hope I can finish it! I can only swim 2 laps without feeling like stopping and run for two songs..... the biking is harder for me because I never learned how to ride a bike as a child.... I am just learning. I think the hardest part is believing I CAN! .... but I will get there!

Thank You for your advice!! I hadnt even thought about the music! That cAn totally help. Its amazing how I got used to staying in my comfort zone for everything, and my body and mind just by instinct try to keep me from sweating , from getting tired, trying harder. I sabotage my own attrmpts....

Hello! I celebrated my 1st year post op by signing up for a sprint triathlon...... yes...... a sprint triathlon. haha..... I am at goal weight, and have been working out consistently ( boot camp) for 10 months now, but I have NEVER run in my life. I will train as hard as I can, learn how to swim, and ride a bike to do it....... however, I just dont seem to find a way to start liking the Running part....... how does someone who was overweight and ashamed of running can find passion in running? I REALLY need to and want to run, I want to like it, and feel confortable doing it. I just know that its my own brain that keeps me from running. all the emotional barriers we build around. I am afraid of falling, getting too tired, being too slow, etc....... how did you do it?!

Yeah' date=' it's crazy. I was always the warmest person in the room. I lived in Colorado for awhile and my friends would always ask to exchange gloves with me while skiing because they knew they would be toasty. My wife would always be "on me" trying to get warm. Now, the tables have turned. I am always cold. One of the small negatives of the weight loss, but worth it.
I wouldn't necessarily say it is due to extra skin in so much as our skin is no longer stretched out. I think a younger person who wasn't obese for long who lost the weight and doesn't have the extra skin, may also have the same problem. From what my Dr said, I'm guessing any person whose skin was tight and no longer is may have this.[/quote']
Hahahaha. ...... Its amazing how our bodies have changed in so little time!!! right?! I remember laughing at people who wore real winter jackets! and now I look like I live in Alaska all the time.

You know, just in case I took an extra dose of Iron last night! Lol! I usually forget my Iron, and to be honest it is the weird aftertaste that makes me want to forget taking it. hahaha....... I am 9 months out. Do you still tale chewable? or how do you take it?

I asked my dermatologist this question' date=' as it is quite common. You will see many threads here on this topic. He said it may be caused by the capilaries near the skin, which are dense to begin with, to be even more dense with the weight loss. This increased density causes rapid heat loss, thus the sensation of being cold, even in a warm room.
That was his explanation, not mine. I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on T.V.[/quote']
I thought it would be the other way around! but its great to know! You know I was sure it has related to the 102 lbs I lost. but I honestly got scared when someone suggested it could be low levels of something. .....

I have tried them, and liked some of them. I LOVE BariWise oatmeal, and grahan Protein Bars. And I ordered a sample pack with a buch of stuff, but the rest tasted awful. Its nice to have oatmeal once in a while with Protein in it.
