    Sore Boobs?

I sure hope someone has an answer for this because I've been the same way and I'm 25 days out.

    A Tmi Question

You'll be fine. I started my period the morning of my surgery and the pre-op nurse just told me I couldn't use a tampon and she gave me these super sexy disposable panties and a huge pad. Lol! Good luck!

    What Calcium Are You Taking?

I take Tums too. My surgeon said they're duel purpose...calcium and heartburn!

    My First Emotional Breakdown

I'm a little over 3 weeks out and just had another major break down yesterday. Before surgery, I didn't realize how much of my life revolved around food. Breakfast with my Dad, lunch with my girlfriends, dinner with my husband...I don't know if I miss the food as much as I miss the social aspect of it all. Of course I could still go, but I'm still not feeling great from surgery and it's hard to have anything other then soup and eggs off a menu right now. I went to a Bariatric Support group last week and the ladies there assured me that it gets better. My fingers are crossed!

    Protein Supplement Ideas!

I need one of those pills too! If you find one let me know. I'm sure it has at least a little...it's meat, right? I sucked on one Reese's Pieces until it dissolved last night telling myself the same thing, peanut butter has protein. LOL

    Protein Supplement Ideas!

Really? I have the Alpine Punch and I kind of water it down and put ice in it too...after that it reminds me of Crystal Light Fruit Punch.

    Another Question!

I had the same thing happen to me. I called my surgeon and insurance nurse and they both said that could be an early sign of dehydration. Take in more fluids!

    Keeping Surgery A Secret.....

I've told people that have asked that I had a procedure to help get my diabetes under control that involved cutting out part of my stomach that makes particular hormones (which is true lol). Surprisingly, it doesn't go any farther than that...The next thing out of their mouths is usually well, you look great and how are your blood sugars now?

    Weight Watchers

A few years ago I did Weight Watchers and lost 100 lbs. Their first Points system worked really well for me, but of course I started to feel cute and decided that I didn't need to go anymore and gained back 80 lbs before I knew it. A few weeks ago before I commited to the sleeve I went back to see if I could take some of the weight off myself and found that their new Points program didn't work nearly as well. The weight loss was a lot slower than it was the first time around even though I followed the program exactly as directed. I was bummed to see that it had changed so much.

    Protein Supplement Ideas!

There are SO many different protein supplements out there it can be so confusing. I've tried tons of them and the only 2 protein supplements that I can stomach are Isopure and Syntrax Nectar. Good luck!!
  11. I hear ya about the money saving part! I've saved so much money since I've been sleeved that I almost can't even believe it! Anytime I go out for food, my part of the bill is usually less than $5 not the the $25 that it used to be. I'm saving all that extra money up for a new wardrobe! lol

    10Th Day Out Of Surgery

Hey Init4me, I'm glad to hear that you are doing so well! I went from using 90 units of insulin a day to 2 units, literally overnight in the hospital. It was amazing to me. I'm a Type 1, so I will always need insulin thanks to my sucky pancreas, but I'm relieved to know that my body is absorbing and metabolizing the insulin that I do take in so much better. I was so excited to move on to pureed foods too! the first thing I had was a scrambled egg and it tasted like heaven even though I could only have a few bites. I see you're in Santa Clarita, we're kinda neighbors!
  13. How did you resist the breadsticks?! Lol

    10Th Day Out Of Surgery

Yes, I had mine done at the same time. Luckily I am a teacher and off for the summer because there is NO WAY that I could have gone back to work after a week. Even 3 weeks out, I know I couldn't work right now.

    10Th Day Out Of Surgery

Hey Mimi, I'm in the exact same boat as you! I had also never considered weight loss surgery, but as an insulin dependent diabetic with out of control blood sugar my endorinologist said if I didn't have this surgery I could have serious complications by the time I was 40. That scared me to death and like you, I was undergoing surgery before I had a chance for it to really soak in as to what was really happening. Once in there, the surgeon repaired a hiatal hernia that I didn't even know I had and OH MY GOD!! I really think that is what's giving me the most trouble in this healing process...

    Thirsty Anyone?

I'm 3 weeks out and am STILL always dying of thirst. I go to Sonic every day and get 2 Route 44 cups of ice and munch on them all day long. It's the only thing that really ever quenches my thirst.

    18 Days Out

Sounds like you are doing amazing! I'm 22 days out today and am still having a few bad days. Today especially has been rough, I woke up about 2 am with some serious acid reflux and nausea and it hasn't subsided all day. I think it might have been the potato soup I had for dinner last night...It was far from low fat, but because I could only have a few bites I thought it would be ok. Not so much!
  18. My surgeon was Dr. David Thoman in Santa Barbara, CA and I had my surgery at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Dr. Thoman was great and the facility was amazing. Every room was private with a big flat screen tv and a couch that folded out into a bed for your loved ones to stay with you if they wanted. It was more like a hotel than a hospital!
  19. I'm 3 weeks out today and am just now able to get enough water in to not feel constantly thirsty, but I'm still having a hard time getting my protein shakes down. I have found crushed ice to be my new best friend!

    Is Anyone Scared?

At the hospital, the nurses did a wonderful job making me comfortable and controlling my pain. I had a hiatal hernia that my surgeon also repaired while he was in there, so I've had a lot of nausea and acid reflux. I started a new acid reducer about a week ago and it really seems to be helping. I am having a hard time getting all the required protein and vitamins down though...that's been my biggest challend so far.

    Is Anyone Scared?

I had my surgery 3 weeks ago today. I wasn't scared until the anestheialogist (sp?) put the mask on me, but by then it was too late to worry. I just said a little prayer as I was fading out and then woke up to my husband and parents smiling at me. Everything will be fine.
