  1. Yay!! I'm working again!!!! Thank you!!!
  2. When I realized I'm close to 30, and my grandma passed away at 62. I had the scary thought that if I continued the way I was, my life was almost half done. (I am very similar to her in the genetics department)
  3. Ohhh I like your menu!!! I may steal the protiene powder in the coffee idea. Big congrats on such an amazing accomplishment!!! And you got the 10lbs in the bag!
  4. Uhhhhh I didn't say that. Huh???
  5. This is actually the result of a bug - that's all there is to it. We're currently working on a fix for this and will update this thread when it's resolved.
  6. I can't see any current posts. And what is up with ***ht? Why the stars?
  7. LOVE IT! To quote a commercial "you go healthy!" :-)
  8. OP do you have a recliner you can try? It may help of you arent flat on your back.
  9. Went and had my head shrunk yesterday. And the psychologist said I'm not too crazy for surgery!! Yay! Okay not quite like that but she told me I'm a great candidate for surgery!! I meet with a different hypnotist to***ht to quit smoking. He is a former smoker, so he understands more about mental cravings vs. physical cravings. He has spent over 10 years developing his program, so I feel confident that I will soon be smoke free!! Blood test in the morning. Explaining different reactions to when I go too long without food, ect PCP and psychologist (she specializes in bariatric patients) both worry about pre-diabetes. But three steps checked off this week. WOO HOO!! Oh and my fiance said he is not going to support my Dr Pepper addiction. So he isn't buying me soda any more. Getting requirements done so my PCP will clear me for surgery.
  10. Is there info on why this happens or what (if any) proactive steps can be taken to minimize the risk?
  11. Will he be checking lung function? Your breathing and blood saturation improves every day you go without smoking so that will help. I can't say what he will or won't do, but the fact that you quit is huge. Be honest with them and just go in positive. I'm trying to quit so I know the struggle. I hope you will get the all clear.
  12. Sorry I don't have advice, because I'm the exact same way... I don't even have my authorization let alone a surgery date to fret over... Hope you get some great answers.
  13. Yeah sorry, but I agree with izuri. The doctor sets the limits for a reason. They have the degrees, expirence, and school loans to show they do know what they are telling people. I don't think that was judgmental at all. Now if the post was along the lines of name calling and belittling, yeah I could see a time out needed.... But I mean we are all grown ups here. (Well I think so) :-) If people come here asking what they are doing wrong or looking for advice or any input, then I don't think they are worried about positive criticism.
  14. Respectfully decline and tell them you are trying to be very mindful of your eating. And that much temptation so early in the "diet" could set you back. It's the truth, just not every detail of the truth. :-)
  15. I agree MamaM (tee hee I think I need to start calling my mom that. Murt is getting played out) I am still pre op and can't fathom being upset about losing "only" 10lbs one month. Shoot I'm thrilled when the scale stays the same in a month! I do wonder if some "light losers" are trying to compare or keep pace with someone who has 150+ to lose. Not gunna happen. Sorry. I have the goal of 50lb in 6 months, so I will be pleased if I beat that!! Be happy with the weight loss people!! Think of the sleeve as a gift. And be thankful!! I shall step off my soap box now.
  16. LoL!! But isn't that how you got the name sleeve of steel? I worry mine will be the sleeve of diva behavior...
  17. To get my toe ring off I use windex. As goofy as it sounds it really does work.
  18. My consult is the 16th too!!!!! Did the seminar in July. Had my pcp meeting last week. Go for psyche eval tomorrow. Get blood test Saturday. Then I get to go back to pcp to get my referral next Friday! Getting sleeved in sept would be so awesome !! Good luck!
  19. This article addresses some myths about smoking. http://quitsmoking.about.com/od/nicotine/a/nicotineeffects.htm
  20. WHAT??? I am a smoker who is struggling to quit. Third times the charm. Couldn't imagine STARTING after surgery. Smoking doesn't suppress appetite. It doesn't increase metabolism. There is SUGAR in the cigarette. Yup. In the tobacco, on the paper, on the filter. Ever wonder why it leaves that brown spot in the ash tray? It caramel. Literally burnt sugar. so how does decreased lung function with sugar spikes stimulate weight loss. That is such an outdated myth iris laughable. Nicotiene isn't as addictive as the habit or "ritual" of smoking. Those "cravings and withdraws" have the same exact sensation of hypoglycemia. So if they start, what will they replace the habit with? The only motion that mimics the act of smoking is, yes you guessed it, eating. All the bad toxins in the smoke... Sorry, but why the h-e-double hockey stick would someone use that as a weight loss tool? Take up Zumba or yoga for faster weight loss. Add in lots of water, and that is WAY better then inhaling tar, arsenic, sugar, and every other poison used in there.
