  1. Dawn' date=' it will get better. I know it's hard to see that now but, it's true. Look at the posts from people a couple of months ahead of you and try to focus on what is to come. It will help you get through this tough time. Also, if you aren't taking sublingual B12, try to start taking it as soon as possible. I find that when my energy starts to dip low around 3-4 in the afternoon, the B12 really helps. Another thing that might lift your spirits is a Pinterest board with all the things you are looking forward to. Mine is called Reasons to Be Skinny and I spend time pinning clothes, shoes, and pictures of things I want to do. It gives me a little boost when I'm feeling down. :)

A big part of this is mental and if you really work on finding ways to accentuate the positives and focus on the end goal, it will make you feel better in the short term.

Good luck and keep coming here for support! We want you to succeed and know you can!!![/quote']

I love this idea!! My surgery is march 4th. And im so nervous!!! Doing a Pinterest board is such a good idea! Especially cause ill be out of work for a week lol

  2. I'll be praying for you! I am so excited' date=' this is the most amazing procedure ever! I promise, it's like I have lost all of this weight and I haven't even really had to try, it JUST COMES OFF! I have lost way over 100 pounds and kept it off, from a size 24 to a size 6! Go for it....[/quote']

Thanks ma'am! That brings me encouragement. How long did it take you to lose 100?

  3. Bleaching creams don't work. This is caused by the over production of insulin in the body. Unless that's regulated the darkness will be there. See the comment above that gives the exact cause for it.

Yes I've read the cause of it. Lol. It's kinda hard not to read it. It's the second comment. I was just saying I had seen them.

  4. I'm pre op. I have the lap band now and I'll be getting the sleeve soon.

I'm just wondering if you still feel the same restriction as with the lap band? Any differences? Any similarities?

I hate feeling tightness in my chest from the band being at the top of my stomach and bottom of esaphagous and constantly throwing up and feeling the food go down.

Anyone out there that went from lap band to sleeve? Please share! Any information and suggestions is helpful!

  5. I have laughed and cried while reading these posts! It is good to know I'm not the only one who feels this way! My husband has never said anything negative about my weight, but I always hesitate to go do things (ie. company picnics, reunions, large family gatherings) with him because I don't want to embarrass him. I would love to get rid of that feeling! I also look forward to possibly getting pregnant (we've been doing fertility treatments for 6 years), outdoor sports like kayaking, hiking, ziplining...pretty much all the things already mentioned!

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant too! It's been a really depressing time and we've only been trying for 9 months. But I know if I lost weight I'd become more fertile and I'm so excited to have kids. I'm a little upset I'll have to wait a few more years after the surgery. But i'll get over it.

  6. Thanks! lol. I'm looking forward to it. I just hope it would happen already!! lol!!

I was looking at your first posts when you were debating and I was thinking DONT GET THE BAND!! lol.

One thing I heard a dr say was with the sleeve you have quality of life and I thought to myself, "Quality of life?? WHat is that?" Lol. THere is no quality of life with the band.

  7. Thank you CJ. It's amazing how upset just typing that made me. God I hope I can do this and it works.

You know I feel like if I do have any flabby skin or hanging fat, anything is better than how i look now, you know? ****, if I can lose 100 to 150 pounds? I DONT CARE WHATS SAGGING!! lol. I'm gonna show that **** off! Lol!

  8. I so agree with everyone-especially the sex. lol

Feels better to know I'm not the only one that avoids social situations. Tired of fighting with hubby because I want to wear a large baggy t-shirt and stretch jeans when I go out. If I dress up i feel like a cow with lipstick. Love to feel normal again. Love to not come home and cry because after spending the afternoon shopping for clothes all I am is tired and more aware of how much weight i've put on.

Just got back from the local fair and saw several ladies wearing sundresses. I've never been a dress person but I am EXCITED about possibly wearing one and feeling lite and carefree. Don't know how the flabby "funbags" will survive this' date=' so not sure i'll be able to do that, but the thought is nice.[/quote']

You will do great. And I think you will look great too. Don't worry about all that. Oh and clothes shopping? Uh totally agree with you! I hate it!

  9. My surgery is Monday July 9 at 12 and this is my first surgery ever and feeling so nervous I just don't want any horrible pain after I wake up. Any suggestions!?

You are going to do great! Yes there will be some pain but trust me it will all be worth it! If I were you I'd just wake up and say "ok I made it through. I'm ok. I'm alive." and then just relax. Your throat is going to be dry because of the tube they put down to help u breathe. But you'll be ok!!!

  10. Just curious what other's goals are after loosing weight? Your living bucket list...

Personally' date=' I'm hoping to enjoy amusement parks again with my family, not feeling alone in a crowded room and (hopefully) going skydiving again.[/quote']

I think I'll enjoy wearing a bikini for the first time since I was 7? And wearing sexy clothes!!

And I know this is a bit personal but I can't wait to try new positions in the bedroom with my husband. We usually stick to 2 positions because I get outta breath doing anything different.

  11. 1 week post and it was tough with the nauasia. I'm getting use to drinking 4oz n a hr. Eatting pudding and yoguart but I have taste for mashed potatoes and gravy! I know I'm suppose to stick with the full liquids for another 4 weeks. But can I just add some pureed foods in my meals now maybe 1 a day if I can tolerate it. I can't tolerate the protien and barley Water right. I could be putting some Protein in my mashed potatoes! Is this normal to feel this way?

I would definitely wait! Follow doctors orders! If you can just hold on it'll be worth it! Just think you're not getting rid of it forever, just for right now. You can do it!!

  12. One of my best friends since 1st grade simply ignores anything I say related to my surgery. The sad part is that we've both been morbidly obese majority of our lives. She had RNY back in 2001' date=' when we were in our early 20s, and I supported her all the way, even though I didn't think the surgery was for me. I went to some of her appointments with her and visited her in the hospital after surgery. I had already moved away after college, so I was driving an hour and a half each way to go be with her during those times. I did it because I wanted to be there for her, and because both of her parents were already deceased. She did go on to gain most, if not all of the weight back. Now, I'm ready to have wls, and she doesn't respond to texts if I mention my surgery. If we're hanging out and I mention where I am in the process, it's like dead silence. My family has told me to stop mentioning it to her, and to not tell her when I'm having surgery. It's very hurtful, because she's the godmother of my daughter, we hang out together all the time, and we vacation together every year. I think this surgery may end a close friendship that has lasted 30 years. No matter what, I'm having the surgery. Resolving my diabetes and high blood pressure will win any day, friend or no friend.[/quote']

Can we say jealous? Girl she's so jealous she can't see straight. You just worry about you! There's a quote out there and it's this. Your friends want you to do good.....but not too good and definitely not better than them.

  13. Good for you to seek an alternitive' date=' I tell you this is a life long battle. I got the sleeve which was the only option for me. I thought about the bypass but didn't want the absorbtion issues. I can eat all foods only in small amounts. If I get greedy and eat too much or too fast then I will have issues. Good luck to you.[/quote']

    Like what kind of issues?

  14. For me' date=' the sleeve was a perfect option for me. I first went to the orientation bc I wanted the lap-band, but when I heard about the complications of the lap-band and realized that it's not a permanent solution. I researched the vertical sleeve and loved what I was reading. It's permanent and very effective. I have lost 77 lbs and so happy I chose the sleeve! For me, it's been a god send. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> [/quote']

Wow! Was the surgery bad to go through? How long have you had the sleeve?
