There was an artist that did this just recently. She weighed about 320lbs and lost half of her body weight, and took lots of pictures, mostly nudes and stuff. It was eye-opening. It was uplifting and disheartening at the same time. These were the first real photos I have seen of the dreaded extra-skin, and I am still not over it.
That being said, I hope to document my loss along the way- just maybe with clothes on!

So, we went to Six Flags today. What I want to know is what model did they use to design the seating on some of the rides? I mean, really, on an airline seat I fit ok and just barely need an extender, but I was almost twelve inches shy of clicking the seat belt on El Torro. Rolling Thunder is over 30 years old, so I can excuse that, sort of. The rest of the coasters I didn't even bother.
I know I am big, but I have no problems in Disney or Sea World. It just seems that Six Flags is way out of proportion.
Oh, and to the guy who made the lap bar go down the extra two clicks on the Dark Knight- thanks ever so much. My right kidney always wanted to get up close and personal with my left one, not to mention my liver and spleen.
This was the worst fat person day I ever had in my life, and I will probably have physical bruises to go along with the emotional ones.

I had two options. A six month supervised plan or a 90 day multi disciplinary plan. I did the 90 day one.
She should call her insurance because, like PP said, they can spell it out for her. Also, they can tell her whether or not her company chose to cover bariatric surgery. Some companies do not, so even if dvr has Aetna, her level of coverage may be different.

I swore I wasn't going to be this way, but I am officially stalking my health insurance company. The first time I called was Tuesday- just looking for confirmation that the papers were in (they were not). After talking with the office coordinator, I said I must wait. Well, two days later there I was on the phone again, just checking. The papers are in and the nice gentleman gave me the claim number and told me what date they had put on for surgery. He said call again on Monday/Tuesday to check because the nurse had not reviewed the fie yet.
Oh boy, I know I will be itching to call again Monday.

Gio told me last week that they do monthly support groups. I guess they do one for each different type of surgery because last week was the lap-band one. Anyway, he suggested that I go to the group when the time came, just to see.

I'm all for having a local meet & greet.
Anyone at Valley with Dr. Schroppe: you guys planning on trying the support group with Gio?

Hey Susan, how is it going?

I'm jealous. I spoke with Julie earlier and it seems someone (couGh cOugh) still hadn't submitted his notes, so my stuff still hasn't gone in to the insurance. Sigh.....

Wow- 100% body sculpting?!! That is awesome. And I thought my husband's insurance was great for covering the sleeve 100%, pffft. The only plastics they will pay for is to remove the pannus for medical reasons (ie medically documented recurring rashes and sores)

Ms.mcbride, I am jealous at how fast and easy your insurance process was. Glad you got a quick approval and date is set.
I hope to hear from Julie any day now to let me know the papers went in to Aetna. Gio said Friday they should be in this week and we should expect to hear by two weeks. They wouldn't set a date though, just a target of late October- early Nov.

Glad everything seems to be going well.

Hi, I am in Wallington. I am with Dr Bessler and will be at Valley as well. I love Meredith and Gio.

It's official- I have finished all my requirements for Aetna. Papers should be submitted next week. Hoping for a quick approval.

H, Jen, just wanted to say that I feel the same way about breads, which is probably why I am the way I am! I am not going to worry about buying anything until I need it. Don't want to buy stuff now, and then not need it/like it. I figure later on I should be ok at work with Protein drinks, egg whites and yogurts and the like. We'll see.
Also, which hospital are you having surgery at? Valley? I am also in NJ, and my group is also out of Valley.

In less than a month you have lost almost 10% of your body weight. I think that's great.

I had gained about 50 pounds in the past few years, and was able to stay the same size (albeit a loose 18/20 to a tight one). It wouldn't shock me if it would be the same in reverse. I fully expect to use the same clothes I wear now for a while until they start falling off or looking really sloppy (I work in an office, so I need to look good/neat in business wear).

I also "had" t do the 3 psych visits. I claimed they were not required (I have three degrees and I have excellent reading comprehension), but they said it was. Whatever- I got to go bore the psych for three visits.
My initial meeting with the insurance coordinator, she scheduled the first meeting with the NUT,and explained that I needed to do three visits with 90 days with the NUT and medical. Only after a month went by did anyone mention the 3 PSYCH visits as well and the endoscopy. So, the PSYCH thing pushed me back another month. I have a fourth visit with the medical tomorrow, since I got pushed into September. I believe that my requirements are all done and they should be able to set a date for submission to Aetna (they can't submit without a date, right?). I am hoping/planning for something before October 22.

I work an office job, but am planning for 3 weeks at a minimum. My STD kicks in after 5 days with full pay, so I admit I can afford the luxury of the time off.
I have to commute to NYC by taking three buses each way. I have to be at work by 7AM and leave at 5PM. I need to make sure that I am as fit as I can be and ok energy-wise before I even attempt to get back in the grind.

The works in Half are the nudes I was referring to before. Talk about documenting changes.
