    Protein drinks in Australia?

Best by far is resource by Nestlé. Available at pharmacy. 20 g protein in 200 mL, and no bloating agents like optifast!

    June Sleevers! Hows It Going?

Way to go guys!! The diets do vary so significantly! I had pureed beef today, with consume to thin it out. Was tasty! I am on 3 resource drinks a day which give 20 g protein per 200 mL drink. Also vitamins. My tummy hasn't really rejected anything as yet, only had pumpkin soup (other than beef puree) I have to say, I may be burping a bit more than usual? I am careful not to drink around ppl I don't want to burp in front of! Hopefully this will pass! Looking forward to sharing more success over the next year with you guys!!

    The Permanence Of It

I was treated by a dietician for 2 years prior to choosing the sleeve. She and I had both ruled out band or RNY as options. I never really considered surgery an option. I want to control my future, not a band. I don't want malabsorption issues. I can lose weight with diet and exercise. Every visit with her I would talk about long term and maintenance and such. When she came to me with the sleeve, I was surprised. I did research and found it to be exactly the tool I needed. Get rid of the craving hormone, reduce the size of the stomach. I control my future. No further issues once recovery is done and dusted. I was sleeved a month later. I toyed with the What-ifs of cancer and such but decided even with a whole stomach, cancer could require a RNY, so why stop something so good by What if'ing myself to death! Just a side note, I am 5'2 and goal of 140 (just inside the healthy BMI range)

    This May Seem Silly...

Ive just been sleeved June 26, 2 year old toddler twins. If I hadn't had the hernia repairs done at the same time, I would be ok to chase them, I think! BUt I wouldn't buy a puppy to test the theory! I do agree also that a 6 yr old dog may well enjoy a 2-3 year old mate, puppies are like toddlers! Although I realise you didn't ask for an opinion on that! LOL

    14 Days Out

Thats great! I had mine done June 26, 13 days ago and I am not as active yet. I did have 2 hernias repaired and my gallbladder out. The sleeve has definitely been the easier recovery! Darn hernias! Great for you! I look forward to sharing our successes!!

20 Ways To Tighten Skin After Weight Loss

All skin is different, even on the same person! I am looking forward to abdominoplasty and breast reduction next year.. however! I am going to go great guns at pump classes and use scrubs and get massages to win the battle with my thighs and batwings! I know that after a 10 lb baby 17 years ago, recent twin pregnancy and carrying all this weight around for years.. and my TIGER marks all over my lower stomach, it will not heal naturally.. I am holding high hopes for the rest!
  9. Sorry about your bubba, much love to you and your family. Tomorrow is a new day. You will have more information. Decide about surgery then. BUT if you really were looking forward to the VLCD, why not start anyway? More convenient than other foods, and if you decide to go ahead, you will be ready and if you post one, you will have lost some weight!

  14. Fellow twin mamas with sleeves, awesome! My DD is 17 and was 10 lbs at birth, my belly never recovered and my weight went up and down and up. Had twins June 12,2010. 120 kgs? ~ 250lbs? Lost some weight on my own, 98 kgs at sleeve time so had lost just over 40 lbs with 8 months of 1200 calories a day and exercise 6 + hours a week. sleeve was offered to me as a tool to help me make some real progress and maintain. Sleeved june26, 10 days ago.. Can't wait to share some before and afters with u all!!

    How I Got Here

My thoughts were, that's just not good enough. If u were reporting issues he should have been fixing them not saying I dont know. Sounds like he thought lap band was easy do and then had lots of complications because he was unresponsive or lazy about adjustments and post op care. I hope the new dr is much more helpful! Are u able to get more info, second opinion etc? Surely being confused isn't good going into another surgery.

    How I Got Here

  17. Hi! I'm 7 days post sleeve surgery date was June 26. I had surgery in Australia by a surgeon I know. I've had lots of information thrown my way from various specialists (as I am a medical practice manager) and wanted to share some of it with you all who may not have had as much free access to information. Diet after surgery is SO crucial! Dietician who visited me in hospital gave me a wonderful talk. You starved your body and then went into a massive surgery. You come out and starve it again? NO! I am on 3 resource Protein drinks (20g of protein in each 200 mL bottle-- sipped for 90 minutes each) Also on yakult drinking yogurt- 2 a day Also a chewable multi Also Campbell's real beef consumme stock (100 g serve sipped over 30-45 minutes) Also sustagen or vita soy drink (concentrating on protein per serve) THEN I am to worry about my free fluids. I still love Water, so drink as often as I can but do not put water above nutrients. I have been using my old yakult yogurt bottles as a sipping guide so I don't stretch myself out with water. Your body NEEDS to heal before you can worry about the darn scale! I have weighed myself.. 103.8 kilos a week before 98.6 a day before and 96.1 kilos 2 days post op. A kilo is about 2.2 lbs I think. I will start weighing myself properly when I get into the next phase, which is purée. Don't starve your body the nourishment it needs to heal itself. You have forever to work that sleeve into the new you, no need to rush. Starving will lead to stalls. A truly fueled body will take care of it for you. Starving instead of healing can lead to complications with wounds and such. (some later cases of leaks have been connected with poor post op nutrient intake) Fuel ur body, fuel ur healing! You are in control! Sip sip sip.. Protein protein protein.. The first 2 weeks need to be full nutritious fluids in small small quantities!!
  18. G'day y'all! Ok, that's out of the way! I loved to Australia 8 years ago when I was 28. Born and bred in Houston Texas! I have a 17 yr old girl and twin 2 ur old boys. I have gone up and down in weight since I was preteen. I want to live my life. I know what a diet is and I LoVE exercising-- gains me freedom from toddlers for one thing!-- what I needed was a permanent tool to teach me to fuel my body-- not feed it to bursting capacity in response to everything except what it needed-- food for fuel! I have lost and gained 40 kilos (90~ish lbs?) at least three times in my life, as well as losing 10-20 kilos at different points (can't possibly count the times!) but my emotions were always bigger than my stomach and I would respond to life with food. I have been really privileged to work with a private dietician for a few years now. I have lost 20 kilos prior to surgery (I started at 118 kilos in September 2011-- my boys were 13 months old) She was always against me having surgery.. That is prior to her seeing so much success from the sleeve! She suggested I talk to a surgeon and boom! 1 month later on June 26, sleeved! This is the tool I am using to get the hell on with my life. I am sick of food ruling me. I am in control now, I rule now. I'm looking forward to being petite again!! Can't wait!

    How I Got Here

The band does not remove the upper part of the stomach the produces the hormone hunger sensation., tue sleeve does The band imo is about as clever as wiring your teeth shut, your still hungry and if u try hard enough u can get past it. 16 is so young as well. Forgive yourself. First off, it wasn't your fault. Yes, you could have acted in a way completely unknown to you and beyond your years, but.. C'mon.. It isn't likely any of us would have succeeded in those circumstances. If you look for a silver lining, treat it like my first marriage-- damn it sucked! But now I know how good my second marriage is and appreciate my husband so much more! Ditch that ex band and get it on with your new partner, the sleeve! You can do it!

    Down 75!

I understand what u mean. I am nearly 100 kilos (220 ish lbs?) and my friend is 56 kilos. She recently lost 20 kilos and constantly refers to 'back when I was chubby' she was 20 kilos lighter than I am now when she was bloody chubby!! And I've already lost 20 kilos!! Oh to be 76 kilos and 20 kilos lighter!! But wait.. I'll still be chubby! It hurts. I've never told her because she still worked hard to rid herself of the Chubb.. But IMO.. She was perfectly gorgeous before! So I'm going with, I am perfectly gorgeous as I am, which is smaller than my previous perfectly gorgeous self and that's all that matters!! What is important is LIFE not lbs! You said yourself-- I will go to the beach, I will play with the grand kids, I can do seat belts and sit in a booth!! That's what you tell yourself when u look in the mirror!! xx
  22. Hi! I'm 7 days post sleeve. I couldnt give a rats about the scale ATM. You have forever to work that sleeve into the new you, no need to rush. Starving will lead to stalls. A truly fueled body will take care of it for you. Starving instead of healing can lead to complications with wounds and such. As for the lady who has started exercising-- 1 kg of fat and a kilo of muscle weigh the same, yes. As does a kilo of down feathers and a kilo of marbles. But a kilo of fat takes up nearly double the space a kilo of lean muscle takes!! Do yourself a favor... Dump the scales and get your measuring tape out.. Fortnightly is often enough... Write it down! You will love yourself for it!
