  1. They will come off on their own - mine stayed on for about 2 weeks. Is the incision sealed and healed under the steri-strips? If not, I would encourage you to contact your surgeon's office and see how they want to proceed... You don't want and/or need an infection to set in.

    Premier Protein

You can get them at Sams Club and they are $18.88 for a 12 pack. I buy them every other week. The cost of the membership really pays for itself over the year. You can buy household cleaners, plates, cups, etc. You don't have to load up on food only.

    Food Funeral......glad It Has Happened!

I did the same thing and so glad I did - you will do great with the sleeve!
  4. Same issue for me and I was sleeved about 3 weeks ago too (10/3/12). It was terrible the other day but I got out and did a long walk - 1 mile - and it miracously went away - feeling great now! I was told it could be a gas bubble trapped from surgery.
  5. You look amazing!! Keep up the great work...
  6. My surgeon ok'd my Prilosec immediately after surgery (and it is a rather large pill). I was advised if needed to take Tylenol for mild pain they recommend the liqui-gels as they immediately break down once hitting the stomach acid. Call your surgeon's office and get their approval just to be sure though....
  7. Holy cow! 38 days? What happened (if you don't mind me asking)?

    Gurgling?

I think the gurgling goes on for a little while. I did; however, puree some cream of potato Soup and strain it for any chunks and the starch in that seemed to help stop some of the gurgling (acid moving around in the stomach). Also, I take a Prilosec 40mg daily - which really helps in that area too. Good Luck!
  9. Any good recipe ideas for mushies?

    Mushy Phase

Can you have mashed potatoes on mushies?

    Puree/mushy Ideas

I start puree and mushies on Friday and was trying to get some ideas from those of you that have been there before. Any good recipe suggestions? Boy, oh boy...I will be so glad to have a little variety in my diet.
  12. I know how you feel, but it will be very different after surgery and you will do great too!
  13. You will do great! See you on the losers bench soon....
  14. I am 14 days post op and am in the same boat. liquids run through the sleeve a lot quicker than solids..no worries. If you can hold it down and it took almost an hour to do it there should be no reason to be concerned. My surgeon said solids will be a different situation.

    Should I Do It ?

On the opposite side of the fence as iggychic - I have a four year old and I had a flawless procedure. No regrets here, no nauseau, very minimal pain and amazing recovery. I am only 2 weeks out and I am sure I have a long road still ahead of me, but currently don't regret it. However, I do agree with iggychic that if you don't have a lot of weight to lose and/or a low BMI I would encourage you to work on your weight by following strict diet and exercise protocols. You will have to do this anyone post-op so you should try and see if you can make headway. Let us know what you decide to do.

Down 30 Lbs In 6 Weeks

I can definitely tell a difference - you look great! Keep up the great work and I think 30 pounds in 6 weeks is awesome. Like Traci J said, that is 5 pounds a week. Thanks for sharing and keep it going!
  17. Jasleeve - how far out were you when they discovered the leak?
  18. Wow! It is amazing how different each surgeon is. My surgeon has you do full liquids the first 2 weeks, next 2 weeks blended/pureed foods, next 2 weeks soft food and then unrestricted at week 7. I wonder about leaks too but am just making sure I am following doctor orders as to not put myself in jeopardy!

    Lap Band To Sleeve

I am 11 days post op too and have lost 11 pounds - I would say you are on track!
  20. Certainly wonder about the same thing myself...thanks for asking....
  21. So sorry you are dealing with that...ugh! Did your doctor perform a leak test at the hospital? Did you cheat on your diet? Did they give you a reason that might have caused the leak?
  22. You will do great! I am 11 days out and can honestly say I was right there feeling the same thing, but I trusted in the surgeon and hospital staff and I am here to tell you - I feel amazing. Down 12 pounds in 11 days! Feel great - little pain while at the hospital, but virtually nothing now. The drain was a bit annoying but nothing I couldn't deal with. My drain came out 8 days after surgery. I get out and walk everyday, go grocery shopping, etc. It will be the best decision you have ever made for yourself! Good luck and let us all know how it goes (after surgery, of course)

Has Anyone Cheated On There Phases?

I do believe that 6 days out is a little early to be eating the chicken and noodles from chicken noodle soup, but each surgeon is a little different in their instruction. I was told by the surgeon that they have you on liquids only so that nothing gets lodged in the incision line and causes an infection to set in and/or leak (both of which could require further surgery where they open you up with a 5 inch incision). That was enough to scare me.... Certainly not here to judge you but would encourage you to get back on the phases and stick with them, you will have plenty of time to eat in a few weeks for the rest of your life. Good Luck!
