    Band to Sleeve; Weight Gain?

weight gain is also a concern of mine after ridding the band.
  2. I have been having issues after either walking on the tread mill, or just walking around the track due to the pain from my port and other issues with the band. It will be coming out in August, but I was wondering if exercising is any better with the sleeve Vs the band. I know that exercise is an important part of the losing process, and I may not have done enough of it with the band. I really want to try harder after being sleeved.
  3. That's great Shucky. I'm glad it's gotten better for you. I believe that if I could get in nearly that much exercise once sleeved, I would be very successful.
  4. Thx Barb, I'm hoping it would be better. One of the reasons for preventing me from proper exercise is the fact that I would be in stomach/side pain afterwards.
  5. I'm hoping not to have this problem once sleeved
  6. Thanks Yaya, This makes me feel a lot better. I keep hearing that maybe I've strained a stomach muscle that always lasts from 1-3 weeks. I just never know when and how I strain it. But the pain is there 2-3 days after starting to exercise.

June sleever now an August sleever!

My band is coming out Aug 6th and He already suspect that there will be a lot of scar tissue. Are there still issues with scar tissue with the sleeve?

    Band Out And Waiting Anyone?

@ Rose, I have to do the same. How long will you have to wait?
  10. I use to love my band and probably still do. But I have gone through a lot with it. I suppose we failed each other, but it failed me first. I only lost 45 lbs in 4 years and I really tried. After all of the pain, stomach bloat, and reflux that was horrible I went through....sign me up too. I cried all the way home from the Dr. yesterday because it's not working any more and I've known that for a while now, but just to hear it again and the fact that my insurance may not cover the sleeve but will cover the bypass really saddened me.

I'm 60. Anyone else over 50 doing RNY?

Hello! was banded at age 56 and having issues with it and now surgeon says that bypass would now be a better decision for me. I am wondering too if I've waited too long. I want to have it very badly in hopes of ridding diabetes that the band and I never achieved.

My band to sleeve story (so far!)

@ WANT2BE, THE ACID REFLUX IS WHAT I WAS EXPERIENCING WITH THE BAND, AND I DO MEAN BAD. EVERY NIGHT FOR 5 WKS B/C I WAS TRYING TO TOLERATE IT. BUT I COULDN'T. I'M STILL BANDED BUT LOOKING INTO THE SLEEVE. I KNOW WHAT THE HORRIBLE REFLUX FEELS LIKE AND I WISH YOU THE BEST AND HOPE IT GETS TAKEN CARE OF SOON. I JUST MAY HAVE TO RESEARCH ANOTHER METHOD FOR FEAR OF THE REFLUX I HAD ONLY AT BEDTIME. MINE WAS DUE TO BEING TOO TIGHT. THE FILL IS OUT AND I DO FEEL MUCH BETTER, BUT I'M GAINING. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

    Moving from band to sleeve

Hi Shannon, I can totally relate to what you're saying. I'm in the same boat as you. Banded 3 1/2 years ago and lost 48 pounds total all with in 8 mos. No more since. I wish I would have went ahead with the bypass as that is what my Dr. was trying to get me to do in the first place. But I was afraid to have that type of invasive surgery. Now I'm regaining some of the weight back. I never reached that sweet spot with the band, only being too tight and losing no weight. The reflux was terrible at night until I had an unfill. So, do I stay fat with diabetes or go ahead and have a conversion? I dont know what to do. He says my insurance will pay for bypass now, but I have to wait and call later to find out if they will pay for sleeve. I feel hopeless as well as a failure.
  14. I'm debating on being sleeved too! But I also want to know what happens that you cant get in enough fluids. I do have a Dr. appt. in a few days and I'm gathering all this info to ask him about. I too have had all of the band hell symptoms as everyone else has. Im nearly empty but not all the way so I no longer have the acid reflux, but unlike the band, If it could be controlled with antacids it would be beneficial for me.

    Jan 14... My LUCKY day!

Hi, Is your band already out, or will it be done in one procedure?
  16. I haven't been sleeved yet, But its a thought that I have had as well. I'm banded now and have lost very little. I'm afraid of losing too much or not enough. From what I've read, give it time. It's still too early. 3 days is not enough time for your body to adjust. Cheer up and don't let it get you down. It'll come.
  17. Hello, I have made a similar statement before but not the exact same. I have a bulging upper belly (in which I was told is the result of the stomach now sitting above the band). Has anyone else had this problem before being sleeved. If so, Is it better now?

    diabetes

This may be a question for your Dr. I was told that my levels were ok if they stayed between 80 and not higher than 140. If it falls below 140, I wont take the pill for fear of a crashing BS. Besides, I haven't had the surgery yet. Everyone's different so talk to your Dr. about it.
  19. @ soocalchic, Mine hurts too. Seems like every 2-3 months I have port pain that lasts for about 3 weeks. Maybe the protruding port is part of the problem as well.
  20. I'm still banded also and used to be more concerned about the lower hanging belly. But now, I worry about the upper belly that looks pregnant since banding. Well, it's nice to know that there is hope for this condition to improve once the band is removed. Thanks so much!

Woooohooo i got approved today !

Thats what I would like, but one Dr is talking sleeve and the other is talking RNY. with the sleeve, it will take 6 months. With RNY I think sooner(maybe at the same time).

Woooohooo i got approved today !

I could only imagine how you feel. I'm so happy for you. Are you still banded and having one procedure?

Woooohooo i got approved today !

I see you've made it Viki, congrats. I'm very happy for you too. If you can remember, you and I were both (were both)in the same boat. You've gone through with your hopes and I'm still holding onto hope.

    What Would You Do?

Hi, I've posted here, and also on gastric sleeve. I was banded 3.5 years ago. I lost 48 lbs with the band within four months. After which I became more and more tighter with fills. However, I could still eat more than usual because I was always still hungry. Therefore, spite being too tight and could still eat, I lost no more weight and started having more severe issues. Now my Doc is saying that the band must go b/c it is no longer of use to me. I have a little fluid left in my band and have regained 10 lbs. I am 5'3" and weigh around 215 lbs. I have diabetes, high BP, and high cholesterol. I'm assuming that If I had to wait 6 mos. after band removal, I would probably gain even more weight. I am so rounded and have very small wrists and legs and a huge mid section and that worries me a lot too. My family has bad issues with these comobidities. BUT! as I ponder, (because of fear) I'm still gaining and getting older. I'm 57 and want to continue to be active. What would you do at 215 lbs? I've tried for years on my own and can't. I'm getting so depressed over this and just want to cry. I do know now that choosing the band was a very poor decision.
