  1. Can I ask what happen with anesthetic? There are a lot of choices about anesthesia. Another food reason to get a consult so you'll know how the team would approach your reaction/issue. I have a close friend that's had three knee replacements (one failed). She was awake and under light sedation because she can't have general. They had to do one procedure at a time. She listened to music. Watched movies. Chatted with the team. Posted on Facebook. Crazy!!! They helped her figure out when she's want to use headphones. Lol. Problems are just solutions waiting to happen!
  2. Go get yet life, dancer
  3. Smokin guns!! 235 look great on you!
  4. I was really active before surgery. I was also afraid of blood clots. I am a summer sleever, so two days post-op I walked 15minutes. Every two-three days I added 10 minutes. At 2 weeks I started swimming, leisurely (I was cleared but I still used waterproof band aids over incisions.) I did some gardening and just moved my body. Three weeks out I went for a 90minute hike. I started dancing again at 3 weeks. Only a half hour (versus 60) and at "level one". So if people are turning with arms flying and feet leaving the floor (level 3), I would be side stepping and raising my arms in step. The first day was really hard. I was pushing; still, dancing in a community is my soul food. The next week, week 4 I was released to lift. I started back on machines (which I do not like) but I wanted the structure you don't have when your weak and using free weights. Lol. I did that for week. By six weeks I was training 5 days a week 45-60 minutes. At 8 weeks I was unlimited. I went back through MFP. Kinda fun to review it.
  5. Yesterday: "you are an inspiration for me!" Awe
  6. You are smokin'! I bet you feel amazing. What a transformation (I'm assuming) this has been for you.
  7. Are you working with an endocrinologist who treats WLS patients?
  8. This just sounds awful! So sorry. You're a warrior, though! Hove hung in. You're here. Posting. Never give up!!! So when I had my initial consult with my bariatric surgeon she said the sleeve is very much a middle of the road procedure, "if you're not where you want to be or at the goal I've set for you, you can always revise to a band or RNY." So there ya go. You have surgery options. I got the sleeve so I would never diet again and I don't. I obviously wasn't ever very good at it. Lol. I don't how to advise you on that....keep in touch!
  9. I can say that I have a lot of muscle. I do not know how much of that is down to L-Carnatine and DHEA. I think it's a combination of the effort to eat, supplement, and drink a lot of fluid. Before I saw the endocrinologist I was cold all the time and I was losing way too much muscle over fat. I really have very little fat now and a lot of muscle. I am warmer. So I don't know what to put it down to.
  10. Anyone from this thread still around?
  11. Amazing!!! And I like your belly button. It's in the right place
  12. All such great support. Self correction is part of making changes permanent. Whenever you self correct, that's the right time. Coming here is a step in making that u-turn. If I think I'm not living for wellness, I go back to basics: community support, eating plan, and move my body in ways that make me happy and challenge me and tracking. Clear the stinkin thinkin of shoulding on yourself. Heehee. Instead of thinking about what you should do, think about what you'd like to do/ want to do. Very powerful shift. Also, getting some medical support might help. Go see your primary doc for a physical and some labs. You get to decide where to put the effort!
  13. My endocrinologist, who is part of the bariatrics practice, has me taking relatively high doses of L-Carnatine to protect lean muscle and mobilize fat because of all the workouts. I also eat high protein within 20minutes post every workout. I eat oatmeal/soy milk/ applesauce pre workout so my body will burn that instead of eating my muscle because I'm stubborn and train/dance moderate to high intensity and that IS NOT good for fat loss. Lower intensity does a better job mobilizing fat. How you eat really helps your body produce/use it's own amino acids correctly. Yea you! I love being strong!! Woohoo
  14. PUMPKINHEAD321. Add me!!!
  15. Grrrrr. Today, "you're so skinny! I bet you feel great!!! But don't lose any more weight. We don't want you to disappear (patronizing tone)." She was trying to shame me in a group of people. Me: so I feel confused. Are you giving me a compliment? Then my friend jumped in and rescued the woman I was about to skewer.
  16. How did the healing compare?
  17. All I have is muscle. Lol. Seriously just skin. Pretty sad shape. She doesn't have much to work with.
  18. It breaks down like this: Circumferential abdominosplasty: 9700. Breast aug: 3390. Mastopexy: 4500. She's also lifting the pubic area. So 18500. surgeon fees. The rest are 1500 for silicone, facility fees and anesthesia fees. She is competitive for this area and her expertise with massive weight loss. That's really what I run into. Expertise/experience with circumferential after massive weight loss. It's a huge investment. I like what Butter said about the inside matching the outside. Not to mention the ways this flap gets in my way when I'm training or slaps around when I'm dancing.
  19. In a way, I think what's really helped me is sharing clothes with my girl friends. I know how I see them. So when they give me clothes that fit I have to adjust my self view. I also had a plastics consult today and the surgeon said she thinks it is very difficult for WLS patients to see their change if they haven't had hanging skin removed. Somehow we still see ourselves as fat because were there were rolls there's folds, flaps, hanging skin. How's it going now? It's been a couple months. I do agree that the mind needs time to catch up with the body changes. There's quite a bit of research to support this.
  20. I've been on a hiatus from this board. I'm glad to be back. The board seems to be a healthier vibe.
  21. I think I understand what you're talking about. The change is a lifetime change. We all heard that but couldn't really know what that meant. The first year is exhilarating and fascinating and scary kinda like a roller coaster: up, down and fast and slow. The second year, yup. I'm right there. Time to stop losing. How will I work that? I think what you're defining is effort. Everyday on this joinery there's a choice about how much effort and where to put it. I'm kinda over the body as a project. I want to maintain my effort. My lifestyle but I'm ready to be on the other side of plastics and at goal. Recovered and maintaining. That kind of relaxation.
  22. Why change how you eat? Are your goals impacted somehow? Interesting. My hunger and eating really fluctuate.
  23. He surgeon said she will have to put the implant under my muscle as she doesn't have enough skin and fat to work with. I wonder how under the muscle feels opposed to skin and what the healing difference is? She said I will feel my implants and there is no way around that.
  24. I had a plastics consult today. I like her. I trust her. She spent a lot of time with me. It was a informative meeting. Oh man! Lower body lift, breast lift and augmentation. One night in surgical center. Holy smokes. I have a lot to process. She told me not to lose anymore weight. I agree with her. She believes I will really like my results if I stop now. She also just thinks I don't have any more to lose. That's just weird. But I get it. She said WLS patients have a hard time because until the skin is removed we still see ourselves as fat. I don't unite feel fat. Lol. I feel that my body looks like I'm 85.
