The surgeon told me that the fatigue hangs around for about 6 weeks. I was sleeved on 4/6. I went back to work 2 weeks later. I found I was pretty tired and did not always have energy for activities I wanted to do. I work in a hospital, and do direct patient care so I was on light duty for a month after I went back. My first week back to full duty was really hard, but now I feel great. I have more energy than I did before surgery. Be sure to get all your water and protein and it will get better. Good luck!

I mixed unjury chocolate Protein powder with fat free Greek yogurt (considered a full liquid). Very satisfying and 40g of protein. -
How long were you off work?
missheidi47 replied to Rochellevsg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I took 2 weeks and was fine. I work in a hospital, and do direct patient care so I had to go back to light duty for 4 weeks. That was a good thing because I could not have done my regular job that soon. The first week or so off light duty (6 weeks post) was a little rough but I feel great now (8 weeks post). -

I am a big fat phony failure

As if it is any of her business anyway. Unbelievable! I hope she did not have children with her setting that kind of example. -

My mom had pancreatic cancer. She passed away 2 and 1/2 years ago, 14 months after she was diagnosed. It was the hardest thing my family has ever faced, but I learned to take things one day at a time. Sometimes one moment at a time. I learned not to worry because it steals the joy of now. I learned to truly put my faith in God. You have a great attitude, and I know that your husband will draw strength from you. I pray that you find joyful moments frequently in this journey.

RENT A DRESS & OTHER CLOTHES
missheidi47 replied to LousPeachy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I joined a while ago, and was going to cancel because I wear scrubs to work. I was thinking it wasn't really worth the money for me. But since I had surgery it's perfect! I can borrow clothes for weekends and social occasions, and I have lots of options for sizes. Plus it's fun getting clothes in the mail to try on. My lighting is way better than the dressing rooms at the store. -
I'm in. Thanks!

Praying for strength for both of you. Remember to take care of yourself too. It's really easy to get overwhelmed when you are a caregiver.

She actually misread it and thought it said "bohemian", not "behemoth". Maybe the person who wrote it can't spell or had autocorrect change it from "bohemian."

Share your rants about the fashion industry!

V neck tees that are too deep to be work-appropriate. Whatever size I currently need is the one that they don't have any more of. Plus size catalogs and web sites that don't have models who are plus-size. I know that most plus-size models are like size 10, but some websites show their clothes on someone who is size 2. Not gonna look like that on me. -
I didn't travel, but I work in health care. Just wanted to mention that whether you drive or fly, make sure that you are up and walking at least every 2 hours for a few minutes to prevent blood clots. It's actually important for everyone even if you haven't just had surgery. Staying hydrated also helps, so keep sipping your water. Good luck!

Nerves and what if's. Please help!
missheidi47 replied to Trudiva's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a moment or 2 of fear before my surgery almost 6 weeks ago. I'm a little older than you are, but active and relatively healthy other than obesity. The surgery was easier than I expected. The pain was totally manageable. I live alone and my family does not live in the same state. A friend brought me home from the hospital after my overnight stay, made sure I was settled and had what I needed. I was fine by myself, with friends checking on me. I am truly grateful for my easy recovery, and so thankful that I did not have any unfortunate complications. I have zero regrets. Think positive. You have done your research. Good luck! -

I feel great most of the time but find myself tired out of the blue
missheidi47 replied to MissLiss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am the same way. The surgeon said it lasts about 6 weeks. I'm 5 weeks out now. Went back to work (light duty) after 2 weeks and each week has been a little better. -
Check with your surgeon's office too. The practice where I go has monthly support groups. The last one I went to, they mentioned that they are starting a group for people who have gained weight after surgery. I love myfitnesspal. I don't mind tracking what I eat on there at all. Good luck! You've got this!

I work in a rehab hospital and I see everyday how weight can negatively affect your health. It's not the only thing certainly. But if you are obese and have a stroke, your overall recovery will be harder. I didn't want to end up like so many of my patients. And I also want to look great and feel fabulous! I'm 5 weeks out now, and I no longer take medicine for high blood pressure. I have always enjoyed healthy foods, but I had a sweet tooth and trouble with portion control. I also ate out way too much. My sleeve helps with portion control and I feel so much better on a lot less food.

Gaining weight at soft food stage
missheidi47 replied to Jb1176's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery was the week before yours, and I noticed the same thing last week. I went up a little, then the scale didn't budge for several days. It is moving again. I like to weigh every day, and I'm not going to freak out over fluctuations. Especially since my clothes are too big. -
Lean deli meats were listed as soft foods for me, so I started at 2 weeks out. I've only had turkey so far, but it makes a good lunch.
