My surgery was March 6. I also had a hernia repair. The surgery took about an hour and fifteen minutes for both procedures. The doctor said my sleeve was textbook perfect. I had a lot of gas pain for the first two days and it can be really uncomfortable. My pain is minimal and my incisions are all less than an inch wide. I am able to tolerate all liquids so far with zero nausea. I have been walking really well and was released from the hospital around noon. Overall the procedure is not bad at all. I was a nervous wreck and when I woke up I had to even question if I had went through with it. Thank you everyone for all of the support. I probably could not have done or without this site.

Yea in your case I would have stayed up too. Yes I'm trying to relax and watch a movie but my mind will not focus on the movie lol. Hopefully my eyes will get heavy soon. I have to be at the hospital at 7 am so I have a little time. Thank you for the reassurance -

Chicken broth made me almost puke
toya7876 replied to Susie1226's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could not tolerate the unjury chicken soup at first, but now I add 1/4 packet of ramen noodle chicken powder and some pepper. Delicious! -
Yay! That's my date too. I am excited and nervous as well but we got this. Keep in touch and let me know how it goes.

Try not to be too hard on yourself. The pre op diet is hard. I am not sure what your pre-op diet consists of but mine is for 3 weeks. Two Protein Drinks, a cup of Soup and one sugar free snack. The first three days I was MISERABLE. I started to feel better about a week out and then I too cheated. I went to a birthday party and just could not resist the grilled hot dog. I was so miserable and devestated. I started to second guess my surgery. However it was that moment that I knew I needed the surgery it was no longer a choice. I jumped right back on the wagon. I am on the last week of my pre-op and I feel great. The past few days have been so easy. So, basically you will get used to it. It really is a mind game and if your heart is in it, it will definately win that mind hunger over!!

Me three! March 6th right around the corner

Hi guys, Not sure if I am posting this in the right place, but I am kind of curious as to what post-op sleevers eat in a typical day. I am interested in hearing from sleevers at all stages. I am currently half way through my pre-op diet and I know that the first three stages of post op are limited but I am still interested in hearing food choices and allowences are made for the day. Thanks guys!

Hi have to do a three week pre-op diet as well. You are correct the first few days are the hardest. I have never done a liquid diet and the first three days I was miserable. I even had flu like symptoms. However, I have been on the diet for a total of one week now only two more to go (besides the post op lol)

Today is the first day of my pre-op diet as well. I have a three week diet. The journey has officially begun!!

Hi. Thanks for the reply. You have your hands full as well. I am sure that you can relate to the fact that the decision to have the sleeve was to be an even better mother to these wonderful children. My heart goes out to you and your 6 year old. Prayers for the little heart to be at ease. It probably breaks your heart to see him/her worrying about youL Good luck on your surgery and keep us updated. I am interested to see how healing, post op dieting, parenting, and housekeeping/ working all work out for busy mommas like us. Again, best of luck to you. -

Thank you for your reply. Wow you are definitely busy! How are your children and hubby dealing with this whole process? When is your surgery date? I do believe that "mommy" getting healthier will definitely inspire the family, so this is one of the most rewarding aspects for me. My daughter is overweight and my son was recently diagnosed with ADHD so a healthy diet is important for us all. My hubby has also started giving me little challenges which I love because it gets me pumped to start this new lifestyle without the "fat" excuse -

Good evening, Thank you for your reply. I can totally relate to the hubby being the biggest kid of all lol. Congrats on ur approaching surgery! How was your journey so far. I am glad your children are supportive. My 10 year old is really the only one who kind of understands. She is super excited for the new healthy mommy as well. I told her I may even get on a roller coaster with her....she had a smile from ear to ear -

So, I went to my consultation yesterday and it was great. I was given the three options for WLS and I was still happy with the sleeve and the surgeon was as well. I talked to the "insurance guru" at the hospital was very pleased with the requirements. So far what I understand is you have to have a BMI of 35 with two comorbidities or a BMI of 40. My BMI yesterday was 50 ... I have hypertension as well. A psych evaluation, and three months of supervised dieting and meetings with a dietitian. My surgeon also ordered blood work and an EDG. So far so good I guess. Financial costs: Seminar- free Consultation-50.00 Phych eval, dietician appointments, Protein mix and post op appointment (not covered) 450.00 20% of surgery costs: 3000.00 Found out that I have a 2,800 out of pocket limit so anything that exceeds that is covered 100% YAY!!!
