    Another Theory

I've never been told to take an hour to eat. That's too long. About 15-20 mins is recommended because it takes 15 mins for your stomach to tell your brain that you're full. If you're keeping careful track of your portions I don't see a problem with you eating faster.

    July Sleevers

I was sleeved the 24th. Day of surgery my scale said 255, theirs was 257. This morning mine said 244 so around 12lbs lost. Not bad as I came home from the hospital the same weight with all the IV fluid I received. Tomorrow is my (early) 2-week appointment. I haven't been able to reach my protein or fluid goal yet for the day but I'm not too worried. I'm supposed to be on full liquids for 4 weeks but I don't know if I can handle it for that long. I find most what I have to eat unappetizing. It's either a shake or soup I have to add yucky protein powder to. I hope I can move on to mushies sooner. I'm dying for an egg or tuna salad.
  3. I'm almost a week out. I was pretty miserable and in a lot of pain the first 2 days and had moments I regretted what I chose to do. But everyday I feel a little better and can eat and drink a little better. I can feel that I will be happy soon and that this will work It's probably not a bad thing you didn't have to do the 2-week preop diet because after 3 weeks I'm sick of it!! The thought of chicken soup/broth makes me sick and I'll be happy to stop the shakes.

    Low Protein

Try adding unflavored protein powder to stuff. I bought beneprotein from Walgreens. One scoop is 6 grams of protein. I can't stand more than one scoop in 4 ounces but I can handle that much in soups and puddings.

    Update On My Pain...

I had my gallbladder taken out a year and a half ago because I got horrible pains when I passed the stones. It would start with feeling like a stomacheache and keep intensifying to a more deeper pain right where my rib cage ends. After a few minutes it would also spread around to my back. Like a line around. I would run around the house crying and trying to get into different positions to get even a tiny bit of relief. I would stretch, kneel, sit, lie down... anything. That was the worst part, that it was a constant horrible pain with no relief. It would last around 20 mins. About an 8-10 on the pain scale. The second time it happened, near the end, I sat down on the couch and rocked back and forth pretty fast. That made me nauseous so I sat in front of the toilet and continued to rock. This seemed to help and it slowly went away. The third time I lay down on our tile floor, tummy down and used my feet to rock back and forth. The rocking and cold from the tile on my stomache was a good distraction and I went to sit in front of the toilet again till it stopped. Luckily that was the last one before I got it removed. Hope you get some answers soon cause if it's the same thing I can totally sympathize.
  6. So my period ended a few days before my surgery. I had planned this out so I wouldn't have to deal with both at the same time. But now only 3 days after surgery my period started again (week apart). Not just spotting but a heavy flow. My periods have never been regular but with the birth control I take it does come monthly. Some months I just spot a little and the rest are normal. The last one befor surgery was a normal one. I only missed one pill from being in the hospital too. Should I worry about this or is it common? Maybe just trauma on my body from major surgery is confusing things? I didn't think the amount of blood can be filled so fast. Doesn't feel like it should be hormones from weight loss this quick either.
  7. Stairs didn't hurt me any more or less than walking.

    Post Op Diarhea

I had the exact same thing. BM every time I went to pee basically. It stopped a day or 2 later after I started having more soups.
  9. Well I just had my surgery and will be on the full liquid diet for 4 weeks total. One thing I can't stand is that my mouth always has a bad taste like milk or protein drinks. It makes me want to drink water but I can't sip enough at this point to freshen up. Aside from brushing my teeth anyone recommend a sugar free something I can suck on? Obviously not gum and I'm not a huge mint fan.

    Why Gain It Back?

Good to know... I never associated my eating problems as 'emotional' because I never ate when I was. Reading the forums for a few weeks now, I started to realize maybe everyone does have a problem with food in some way. So again I hope over the next few weeks and month I find out more about myself and have the strength to realize and change it . I already feel a small change that food isn't as important just being on this pre-op diet.

    Pre Pre-Op Diet!?

That's the first thing I did too. Cut out coffee and soda. Besides that it was just try to cut back on carbs and fat and eat out less.
  13. Hey izuri. I'm fairly healthy with no co-morbities from my weight except my heart rate is always elevated so I failed the EKG and had to have a stress test. Luckily it came back fine. I'm not 100% sure but anything off with the gallbladder woul only lead to you taking pills to prevent stones or removing it during surgery. I can't imagine anything being bad from the X-ray or blood work either so I'm sure you'll do fine.

    9 Days Left,excited:)

Hello! I'm July 24th, so just a day before. Officially this should have been my 8th day of liquid diet but issues came up and this is my 6th day. Lost about 7-8lbs so far so I'm happy. I really miss chewing and something heavy and filling. I do 4 'full' meals a day and 2 Snacks. A meal is either a shake or low fat greek yogurt and dinner is Soup with added Protein. Snacks are low fat/low sugar puddings/jello. I'm getting tired of all the chocolate! Bought some oatmeal as that is approved. I swear I remember cottage cheese is ok too so I had some yesterday and it was amazing. The hunger doesn't bother me as much, it's more the cravings. Good luck on your surgery! Keep me updated.
  18. You look gorgeous and younger! I love your black and white dress
  19. I'm sorry, this post isn't strictly about the sleeves... Today was supposed to be my first day of the 2-week pre-op diet. I had a big canvas bag of shakes, pudding and yogurts that I was going to keep in stock at work. I know some people really don't look forward to this liquid diet but I was excited to lose more weight and it meant the final step before my surgery on the 24th. Well about a minute before I was headed out to work, out of nowhere, my beautiful 19-month old son went into a seizure. This has never happened to us before and for a few minutes there I thought I was going to lose him. He ended up having 2 more seizures today and now we're here overnight at PICU. He seemed to be doing much better at night and now he's sleeping restfully. We are hoping for the best and the original diagnosis we were given that he has a viral infection. It seems to be common for babies. I'm very overwhelmed and stressed now and considering postponing my surgery. My pre-op consul with the surgeon is this Thursday. My husband seems like he really wants me to still go through with it because I've been waiting to have it so long but suddenly it doesn't seem as important anymore. If it wasn't for the fact that a family member was already coming to stay with us the week of my surgery I would have already cancelled. Tomorrow after we learn more I'll have to decide. I hope my son will be healthy and normal again and one day I will be healthy too. Thank you for listening, it felt good to tell someone and I'm sure someone out there may have faced something similar and can reassure me.

    Banana 'pancake'

Saw a picture my sister-in-law posted. She is not a WLS person but she does a low carb, gluten-free diet if I can remember correctly: ""pancake" made from a mashed banana and 2 eggs whipped together. Sounds disgusting, tastes delicious!" So wanna try it but I'm on the pre-op liquid diet phase so it will be a few weeks for me.
  21. I'm so happy to hear your son no longer has seizures! It makes me happy and hopeful. I'm not sure if ours has the same because throughout all the seizures he's never had a temperature. They did CT and EEG on his brain and it wasn't epilepsy, he just has seizures. I was told the medication does make them tired but they eventually get used to it so we'll see in a few days if he improves.
  22. We got let out of the hospital Wednesday morning. He was put on anti-seizure medication and had been seizure-free for 24 hours so we were allowed to leave.. thank god, we all hated the hospital. However on Thursday night and Friday morning he had more seizures right before his medication runs out so we were told to up the dosage. Seems to be working now... no seizures since then and he's finally acting normal again except a little tired. He's been acting more cuddly and wanting to hug mommy and daddy a lot so there is that. Today finally felt like a normal day and liquid diet has been great, not even suffering. Thank you so much for asking!
  23. I've always had a bit of a sensitive stomach. Usually just from going out with friends and eating too much fatty food. I think at one point I just always assumed my stomach would get upset after eating a heavy meal that I ran to the bathroom anyway so it became psychological. Nothing really bad till I got my gallbladder removed over a year ago. Now I usually have to go to the bathroom several times a day. It feels like after a few minutes of ANYTHING hitting my stomache it starts getting upset and off I go the bathroom. It's happened to me after only eating a bite sometimes... or even something really plain like some bread or lettuce. It doesn't bother me enough right now but I'm worried that after surgery my stomach will still stay the same and with so much less food it can be a problem. Especially getting dehydrated easier. I already think I suffer dehydration. Anyone had similar issues? Oh and of course I don't mean pee.

    Body Dysmorphia In Reverse

Yeah I have this same issue. I walk around thinking I look pretty good and then I see a picture of myself or see myself in a full-body mirror and I cringe because my largness surprises me. It's better than having body dysmorphia because I will be satisfied with my results even if I never reach goal weight. I can still remember when I was 180lbs, size 12/14 in college and I felt so good about myself and I was still overweight. So really it's a matter of my body catching up to my mind, not the other way around.
