    August Sleevers..what Is The Progress

Update to my last post. Well a little time has made a huge difference. I am really feeling great now. My surgery was 8/27 and I'm down 17lbs. I drink injury chocolate splendid with skim milk twice day and have started some foods. As i was able to get in nutrients my energy had come back. I stay full now and am learning how much food is the right amount. Iwalk every day 30@40 minutes. I think getting some exercise has helped too. The first 2 weeks are hard but this week has been so much better. If you are fresh post op don't be discouraged it is going to get better quickly. Just rest as much as you can and keep hydrated. As you feel a little better push yourself to go out and do more everyday.

  6. You look terrific. Thank you for sharing. I'm a little intimidated at the gym. Did you use a trainer to learn your weight lifting routine? Any gym advice?

    Overeating

I ate things pre op that I knew I wouldn't have for a long time -like crusty bread- sweets-steak and I'm glad I did. I thought it was wrong at the time but it was okay. I wish I had investigated protein drinks ahead of time though - that would have helped. Great site is eggface - she has great ideas for post op diet. Goodluck
  8. I had my surgery on Aug. 27th. So glad the stress of that is behind me. What helped me decide was that if I didn't lose wt. I was going to have changes in my life - like all the complications from Diabetes- don't fool yourself this will practically kill you - I'm a nurse and all nurses fear diabetes as we have seen how it destroys the body. So I decided that I would rather undergo changes now to my lifestyle and take the risk of surgery - which I felt was small for a huge benefit in a short time. Looking better and doing all the things with my family that I couldn't being obese seals the deal. Its normal to question a big decision just make sure you really understand the risks of staying obese and be realistic if you can lose wt on your own and keep it off. I am finaly feeling so good -its been 2 weeks almost post-op- and as I am so excited for my future. I have no regrets. Find a very experienced surgeon and find a bariatric center of excellence - that is important. Good luck.
  9. Congratulations. Don't look back and beat yourself up. You were doing the best you could. When I read your post I thought...wow I could see myself doing that too but then thought -all that negative energy for what? You're courageous and have done so much for yourself. Look forward you have so much to be proud of.
  10. Ive been crushing and wondering if it is taking away effectiveness. My MD ordered liquid version of med but they don't make it anymore and pharmacists told me to crush it.
  11. Do you crush the pills?

    August Sleevers..what Is The Progress

I was sleeved 8/27 and feel tired and weak still. I don't have much discomfort but the lack of nutrients is getting to me. Isopure is gross and the injury vanilla protein shake - even with some doctoring tastes bad. I thuoght I wouldn't be hungry but I am. Lost 13lb. But need some encouragement. Does the hunger get better? Will I become more tolerant of prtein shakes?

    Surgery Day Tomorrow 8/27

Also I had the leak test in radiology several hours after surgery. That was fine - no big deal. Took sips of this clear liquid while i was tilted up on table. They put the xray machine right over my abdomen took several pictures and that was it. Don't stress about this test. I asked for some water after so I could rinse the taste from my mouth.

    Surgery Day Tomorrow 8/27

Had my surgery om the 27th. Came home last evening I had a morphine pump . The gas pain was bad in the recovery room but it passed. Now i get intermittent gas pain that really hurts but it passes quickly. I have been on clear liquids since the 26th and I am still at my preop weight. Thought I would have lost several pounds at least. I think the worst part is before the operation - just so anxious before they took me into O.R. they have a special OR table. And they tilt it forward as the operation is done in that position. I remember they talking to me and joking around to be nice and then I woke up.in the recovery room. It was amazing. And the nurses were so kind. Time flies and I am now home and so relieved this is behind me. I'm on clears for one week. I think being on clears preop and now tor this week is the wordy part. I'm not really hungry buy I would really like a meal Good luck to all who are going soon. It will be done before you know it.

    Surgery Day Tomorrow 8/27

I'm tomorrow too. I was very anxious yesterday but feel calm right now. When I think about risks I try to remind myself of all the risks that I have being overweight. Also thinking long term - how fabulous will next year be! I haven't been a healthy wt in 25 years - Iand its hard to even picture myself thin. I have to say also I don't feel excited about this like so many preop posts say- feel this huge unknown in front of me but reading success stories has kept me going. There is only one way to go and I want out of this overweight prison. Good luck tomorrow I will keep you in my prayers.

    All The Approvals!

Everytime I learn of a restriction - like no caffeine or carbonates beverages it took me a couple days to accept it and then it seemed okay when I realized everything I would gain- a new life. You will get through the Holidays as there is much going on besides food. I am scheduled for surgery in 9 days and know this Thanksgiving/Christmas will be different and I am so thankful. Just try to focusing on the long term gains- that really helps me take each step in this journey.
