  1. Surgery day tomorrow for me too!! Mine starts @ 9:30. Just thinking positive thoughts and looking towards the future. Here's to seeing everyone move onto the losers bench!!!
  2. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!!!
  3. I'm pre-op (at least for 35 more hours). From what I gather is that this process changes you both physically and emotionally in all aspects related to food. I too am tired of being the thin girl trapped inside of the heavy girl. I want sooo much more for myself and quite frankly think I deserve it. If I could have done it on my own I would be thinner and healthy by now but I can't...I need help. Take your time to research EVERYTHING...that way you can make an informed decision. Not everyone's pre-op diet is the same...some have 2 weeks while I have 24hrs clear liquid pre surgery. Make sure you research your surgeon, go to support groups to talk to others and their experiences and of course use this site for information. This is a great place for info and a wonderful group of supportive people. Best of luck to you on your journey!!
  4. Thanks so much for the support. I just noticed that you are in VA too. I'm in Yorktown...not too far from you. My sister lives in Richmond. What a small world !!!
  5. That is wonderful...you are doing great. It sounds like you had the time of your life. I have my new beginning starting on the 17th...super excited to fill my new life with lots of fun. Best wishes for your continued success and to having more FUN!!!
  6. My surgery date as well. Starting on Clear liquids tomorrow and excited to get past the surgery to the healthy new me! Wishing you a speedy recovery!!!
  7. Best of luck tomorrow. I will be thinking about you!!
  8. Hey there..sleeve twin!!! Butterflies a little bit...it was much worse the first time as that was my first surgery ever. At least I know what to expect on the front end. I think my mind is easing itself in but probably will hit me tomorrow. You keep me posted too!!
  9. Hi all..I actually went in to have the band done on 5/29 (researched for 2 years + took that long to get over my nerves). I had the operation and woke up to no band due to an gastric artery being at the top of my stomach instead of where it should have been it was a no go (my surgeon sees about 10 cases of this a year). So I had the official look see without the banding. :-). Fortunately, I have a wonderful surgeon that knows what he is doing. At first, I was so disappointed that I had gone through all of the nerves, etc and ended up with NOTHING. After much thought and discussions with my surgeon he gave me my other options. When all was said and done I am so GLAD that it has worked out for the best for me. This has been a long time coming! I also feel blessed to have found this site and all of the information and people on it. Everyone is willing to share their stories and I have made some new sleeve friends. As far as being pushed in one direction by your surgeon...all I can say is my surgeon would never push his patients toward one surgery or another. He provides all of the information and the patients decide. I know it might be hard if you only have a surgeon that specializes in one type of surgery but as hard as it may seem...you need to choose what is best for YOU no matter what. In the end, that might mean moving to another surgeon and starting over. Sorry for the long story but I will be having my sleeve surgery this Tuesday @ 9:30. I am excited and a bit nervous but all ready to begin this new journey to a healthier me! I wish everyone continued success and looking forward to the loser's bench...keep my seat warm!!
  10. Glad your doing well. I have my surgery on the 17th and it is coming on fast. Wishing you continued success and a speedy recovery!!
  11. This post was right on mark....the exact same thoughts that have been running through my mind. My surgery is on Tuesday....please feel free to send me a personal message and we can stay in touch during our post-op recovery. This site has been a great source of comfort, information..you name it. Everyone has their own personal journey but it is nice to have others to discuss things with. Wishing you the very best with your surgery and a speedy recovery.
  12. Will be sleeved 7/17..class of '92. Glad to get this done and will so rock my 40's!!!
  13. Congrats on your 1st big accomplishment of being a nonsmoker...one of many I'm sure you will have in the upcoming months. I have my surgery on 7/17 so it is fast approaching and would just like to hit the fast forward button. Nervous and excited all in one. Wishing great success and a speedy recovery from your surgery!!
  14. July 17th @ 9:30am. Getting closer :-)
  15. Getting sleeved on 7/17 and currently substitute school nurse while my young ones finish elementary school. Also, working on getting another degree. Boy, people with medical backgrounds have got to be the most paranoid when it comes to surgery (or maybe it is just my crazy nurse mind running havoc with all of the "what ifs" ) Anyway, think I keep flowing back and forth from excitement to nervousness. I will come back and post after surgery. Good luck to everyone on their sx and recovery
  16. You are doing great! You can really notice the difference. I love the idea of having photos of the way down to Onderland! Keep us posted on your success!!
  17. You will do great! Wishing you a speedy recovery!!
  18. Best wishes! You will do great. Post & let us know how your doing when you feel up to it.
  19. 5 more days for me!!! July 17th @ 9:30am. Good luck to everyone having surgery this week!!
  20. Thanks everyone!! I've heard that the nausea can be bad. I asked my dr about it and he gave me a nausea patch to put on the evening before surgery to help. For those that are still pre-op, you might want to to ask. I just want to minimize my chance of vomiting...especially with my new tummy :-) 5 more days until the big day!!
  21. Thanks everyone!! This board has so many wonderful people willing to provide advice and insight. It is so nice having a place to ask questions. Only 5 days until the "Big" day.
  22. Thanks so much...hoping that is my experience. Not a big baby with pain but it is good to hear other's experiences. Surgery on 7/17...so fast approaching.
  23. Thanks...many had stated that it provided support to help with incision and pain when getting out of bed. Just like getting others opinions. Hope your recovery is going well!!!
  24. How was your pain level after surgery? I know everyone is different but just some insight on your post-op surgery experience would be helpful.
  25. Just wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for a brand of belly (abdominal) binder. Have seen many that say they are helpful post-op but don't know which one is best.
