    Post-Op Bloating?

I too feel very bloated. Surgery was on 7/17....thinking that things are still swollen and will go down with time. Wouldn't be great if once the gloating goes away it takes like 10# with it!
  3. Can you post your recipe? Sounds like it would be great!

    Major Cheat On Pre-Op Diet

He won't be saying that ;-}...but just get back on the wagon and try again. Isn't that really what life is...trying. No one can maintain perfection and there will be pitfalls. The difference is post op you won't physically be able to completely fall in the hole but can begin to slide in. I have found that it really comes down to an inner conversation you have with yourself all day. I am 9 days post op and by no means an expert. But for me, I haven't been hungry which is a strange feeling. Sure your mind will play tricks on you & try & tempt you. But you will be stronger when you know your weaknesses!!! Wishing you a great surgery & speedy recovery!!

    4 Days Post Op

Also, concerning dehydration....watch the color of your urine. You want light yellow. So if you have a light color you are doing good. If it is darker just focus on getting any liquid (protein or not in). I also worried about that...just pace yourself and get a lot of rest. Funny...never thought it would take me 6 hrs to drink one bottle of Water

    4 Days Post Op

It will feel like you can only get a few sips in a day at first. I am 9 days out and can just now get 2-16 oz Water and 2-11 oz Premier protein...takes me ALL day! shakes take 1.5 hrs to get one of them down (breakfast & dinner). Sip water all day. Also, drinking just the clear broth off of egg drop Soup (about 2 oz day) for lunch. It will take time to build up to it so just go easy. I also had a lot of incision soreness at the big one and pain (gas) @ my breast bone...felt like someone sitting on my chest. Just kept walking and taking gas x as well colace. I am being very slow and steady. On Tuesday (14 days post op) can move on to purees. I'm envisioning that it will be baby steps all over again! Just take one day at a time! You are doing great!

    Ok, I'm Freaking Out!

I think you wouldn't be human if you didn't feel nervous. However, I can say that I had a sense of calmness and certainty that came over me at the hospital on surgery day (7/17). Today, I am 9 days post op and can honestly say that I feel excited about my future. I made this decision for my future health and to extend not only my life but the quality of my life. This whole process has been one of freedom and empowerment. When all is said and done you will be happy with the decision "YOU" made for yourself. You are strong and will do great with your surgery and recovery! Wishing you the best!!

  11. You will get there and get to do all of those things. I am 6 days post-op and can't wait for next summer. I too find myself strategically hiding behind my kids. Next summer you will be posting pics of yourself on vacation in a very cute sundress!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for a speedy insurance approval!!

    1St Week Post-Op Question

I tend to get nauseous with anesthesia so I spoke with my dr. He gave me a patch to put on night before my surgery (7/17) & I wore it for three days. I had no issues this time. I can only speak from my experience but they run so much IV fluids thru you during surgery & after you will be fine immediately post-op. Just make sure to follow your dr plan and sip, sip, sip your Water & Protein. You will not want to at first but just focus on water and you will do fine. If you are still concerned speak to your dr and NUT about the warning signs of dehydration. Don't be afraid to call then and ask questions. They are there to help you be successful! Best wishes!
  13. Best wishes and a speedy recovery!!!

    Nervously Excited!

Being a nurse, I too know all well how your nurse brain is in overdrive! Before my surgery the what ifs were insane. I also didn't have any other issues besides my weight and have 2 boys, 13 & 9. I had my surgery almost a week ago, 7/17 & I can tell you that hands down it is the best thing I did for myself & family. Sure it is a major surgery & you will be uncomfortable for awhile. I haven't had any real pain just soreness that gets better everyday. I am on liquids until the 31st & then move to purees. This will be the best thing you have ever done for your family...not just the losing weight but the time you are giving back to your family of having you around. Sometimes, I think WOW I had most of my stomach taken out but I will be here to see my kids grow up & get to be part of their lives not just a part of the backdrop because I can't join in due to my weight. Good luck and best wishes as you move forward. Wishing you a speedy recovery!!
  15. Well, it has finally arrived...surgery in t minus 15 hours I will walk into the hospital to take control of my life. That's right "MY Life"...I am determined to reclaim what is mine!!! In all honesty - a little jitters and nerves but otherwise ready to get the show on the road. I can not thank everyone on this site enough for all of the honesty, information, encouragement, etc. I have made a few new friends as well to go through this journey with. When I wake up tomorrow afternoon (fully wake up ) I will be sitting on the official losers bench. As exciting that is, that will just be the beginning of my journey to a healthier me. Another month of liquids to mushies to testing out new flavors and tastes. So here is a big hug for everyone having surgery tomorrow and best wishes for a safe and speedy recovery. Looking forward to moving on with "MY Life"

    Being Compliant...

I was told that once the soreness is gone you can gently massage that area. It will go away over time with massage. I know all of mine did with a previous surgery. Surgeon says it is a buildup of scar tissue associated with the healing process. Only 2 days post-op so haven't started doing it with the fresh incisions. Still a bit sore...especially the big one.
