  1. Welcom Kim! I think you' ve found the right place to talk to people that are going thru the same. I'm relatively new myslef and still at the beginning stages of getting sleeved. Don't just stop here check around the site. You'll find that people have some of same issues, concerns, good stuff , not so good stuff about WLS. when i forst joined in June I thought it was gonn be "Just another site where people tell their business and it would be of no interest to me. I was wrong, 2 1/2 months later I'm still here and learning stuff too. It's all here any question and great answers. Best wishes to ya!

  2. WOW!! There is sooooo much to this whole process. Anyone who says that this surgery is taking the easy way out wieght loss should be slapped AND HARD TOO. It takes a lot of work to have to deal with the medical insurance and the medical staff. This is all before we deal with the surgery itself. I'm glad HeyHer asked the question because I found out some good info from the answers.

  3. Late night TV and eating a lot of the wrong type of Snacks was my thing today I still don't eat a lot till this day but unfortunately all of the stuff at a packed on the fat. I chose to sleep because of the results i've seen on others n what I've been reading n researching this is magnificent for me. one other important thing that helped me to make my decision is that I have not heard too many people complain about having a whole lot of excess skin like you may have from the gastric bypass surgery

  4. Ok' date=' I feel like a goober asksig this but Im just so darn curious. What happens to the part of your stomach that gets cut off? Im mean if it simply goes in the "trash" how did they get it out of such small incisions to do so? No laughing @ me. Ok maybe a little snicker :-D[/quote']

I was curious to so i watch someone having surgery on youtube. I didnt see the cremation but they did trash it.

  5. I was really struggling with my pre- op diet ( I am now day 5) and its still tough today but not as tough as it was. Thanks Dooter for sayi g this as I was getting quite despondent bu am starting to feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel :)

THERE REALLY IS! Everyone gave good advice. Continue to try your very best. it will definitely help in the long run good luck to you I know its tough

  6. Please don't let other people stop from doing from doing what is best for you, your husband included . Often times people want us to do with seems to be best for them and what they think. I have diabetes borderline high blood pressure and I've been fat for most of my life. Even though eating is easy gaining weight, seeing it on your body and not being able to take it off that easily is very hard . Surgery isn't easy either. I'm sorry your husband is not supporting you but there are people here on this site that will be some of your greatest supporters and biggest fans for making a great life choice .

  7. So today I had my medical review and hubby demanded on going. What was suppose to be MY appointment turned to HIS appointment' date=' he asked more questions about HIM and what HE needs to do to change HIS lifestyle. HE had more questions for the Dr. than I did, I was REALLY irritated.....

BUT all in all my review went GREAT, all my labs were good and now onto the next step toward getting SLEEVED.

I do have a question for you guys, the Dr. mentioned I should really consider the the Bypass vs. the Sleeve. He said that my labs indicate that I may be pre-diabetic, and that the Bypass would instantly reverse the pre-diabatic state. I am not feeling the Bypass too much, I really don't want that malabsorption issue. Did you guys experience the Dr's suggesting one over the other, and if so why did you choose the Sleeve? ANY feedback will help![/quote']

Just had my first appt with surgeon today too. She kind of suggested the by pass as well because she said my diabetes will go away almost instantly. I have research and have seen the results of the sleeve n my mind is made up. Just be sure u read all facts n info about both n make ur own choice. Best wishes to you

  8. I have decided to tell the people that are in my life on a daily basis, my husband, my son, best friends & fam. I haven't shared at work yet not sure if I will either. I mean they will know that I'm out for a medical reason when the time comes but not quite sure I'll go into detail. I think you should share when and if you want to. Your main support person is on board and that's waht counts

  9. My Dr. is is Columbia MD and my forst appt is with her. I haven't done any of those things yet except diet and I was seeing a nutritionist. I was told that I had to see one of their so all of my appt with the one I was seeing are null & void. I won't find out who/what I need to do until my first consult.

  10. Hi Everyone!

I'm about to begin my VSG journey on 7/16. Not the surgery itself but my first meeting with the Dr/Surgeon to talk about what I need to do before a surgery date is set. I feel like I'm at the back of a very long line at a crowded amusement park anxious to be at the front! I've been reading blogs about people who are a few days away before surgery and I am more anxious than ever to get there. I know that most people hate surgery of any kind but this is big deal for me as I am sure it has been for others. With that being said, can someone tell me what to expect at my first appt with the Dr.? Thx
