  3. You are fine ! But remember... to get the best results on your journey... try and following the guidelines given to you by your doctor... I was given sample menu plans... I followed them in the beginning and they were sooooo helpful... also if try and keep and food journal and also try and attend support group meetings with other bandsters. Just try your best... you really have to eat a lot to stretch your pouch. Louloumoo... I love it when you said that you eat until your "satisfied but not full"... I do the same thing... for me it's usually just over a cup of food. Pre band I used to eat until it hurt. I tell new bandsters (and old) in my coffee groups that I host that it's ok to leave food on your plate if your full. I plan my meals for the week (dinners) and put them in the fridge/freezer in band-size portions. This made a big difference in my success when I was losing. I knew what size portion kept me satisfied.... but not stuffed. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 160 lbs
  4. I've lost 160 lbs... I lost 140 in just under 14 months... then just over the past year another 20 due to a medication I'm on. I've found maintenance with band VERY easy... pre my new meds I was actually below goal. I got the band to help me with my portion control... it's the BEST TOOL EVER !!! When I was losing... yes I still had to "diet" but I was able to eat "normal" and I never felt like I was missing out on certain foods... except rice, apple skins and carbonated beverages. A caution about fills

What I mean my listening to my body is... when I eat I stop eating when I feel satisfied... not stuffed. I plan my dinners for week in advance and always have Snacks in the refrigerator (usually cold turkey with dip). I make sure I eat three meals a day and sometime 2 snacks. I hardly never have "head hunger" anymore because I now know when I'm really hungry.... also because now when I eat I'm more satisfied I'm not as hungry in between meals. When I was losing I had great results because I kept a food journal for 4 months, planned my meals and went to support group meetings... I also only got weighed and measurement once a month by my family doctor. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 160 lbs

  13. Just remember no matter what type of WLS you have you still have to work at it. For me the band is a "tool". It's a wonderful "tool". When I was losing I still had to "diet" and make healthy food choices but I could still treat myself now and then with treats but in smaller portions and still lose weight. I never feel like I'm missing out with the band. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 160 lbs
  14. I just past my 7th year "banniversary" and I've had not issues at all. The band was the best thing I ever did for me. I started with a 54" waist and am now a 30" waist. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 160 lbs

Gurgling and burpy gas when lying down

I'm in my 8th year of being banded. I still get the gurgles... I never know when they are going to happen. It can be hours after I eat or anytime during the day. It's usually very loud. I'm not tight. My doctor said this is normal for some people and not to be concerned. For me it's just my band talking to me saying "Hey... I"m working". As long as there is no pain I'm not concerned. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 160 lbs

    Failure

I believe it's never to late get back on the "band-wagon". Do whatever it takes... find a new doctor and join a support group but make sure you put the time into the journey. When I was banded I was self-pay. I followed the menu plans given to my by my doctor to the letter... because I was afraid the $16,000 I paid would be wasted. The band is a wonderful "tool" but we must work with it and the end results can be wonderful. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 160 lbs

    Ahhhhh

I'm going into my 8th year of being banded. My doctor said coffee was fine. I drink 2 medium coffees a day... sometimes 1 small, 1 medium... with 2 cream and sweetner... pre-band I drank 2 extra large coffee with cream. (everything in moderation). I guess each doctor is different. I've had several physicals since being banded and am in great health. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 160 lbs

    ??Question?? for the VETERANS

I don't burp but I do "gurgle" a lot and it's VERY loud. It can happen at any at time. It started shortly after I was banded. My doctor said it happens to many banded people It doesn't hurt and he said it's nothing to worry about. When it does happen it's just a reminder to me that my band is saying hello to me and that it's doing it job Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 160 lbs

    I Cried!!!

Excellent job ! I'm a big believer of only weighing yourself once a week or better yet once a month. I got rid of my scale a month before my surgery when I had my physical with my family doctor. BEST thing I ever did. While I was losing I got weighed and measured every month with my family doctor. I also got weighed at the clinic when I got a fill (4 times). I found this kept me really motivated and on track I wasn't focused on the scale. The inches REALLY were noticeable. I still get weighed in every month with my family doctor. feeling guilty

I didn't have to the pre-op diet because I didn't have a fatty liver yet my starting weight was 292 lbs... so go figure... each doctor is different. Do the best you can... take it one day at a time. Do you have a Post-op menu plan to follow? I was given a 4 week plan to follow. I really stuck to my plan... and the results showed. Considering surgery

Hi I didn't have to do the pre-op diet because I didn't have much fat around around my liver. I can eat ANYTHING except rice or apple skins... and no carbonated beverages. While I was losing I did have to "diet" but I have no regrets at all about having the surgery. I find maintenance with the lapband VERY easy. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt.
