  1. I use those same cups every day, its the only thing I drink out of other than my water bottles I take to the gym. I've been using them for weeks now and Im 8 weeks out. I dont even know if I was told not to use them, if I was it went in one ear and out the other. I think the reason is in case you suck up air, and there have been times when I was at the end of my drink and sucked up some air and I felt a little weird, but you just have to make sure you dont do that. I control my liquid intake much better this way. Before my surgery I never used to use straws, but I was having a hard time sipping after so I tried these cups and ended up buying 4 of them.
  2. I got the GNC unflavored protein powder and mixed 1/2 a scoop with my crystal light. I used those new insulated cups that have the plastic straws that you see everywhere so you cant smell it. Its not as much protein as a shake, bc I only used 1/2 a scoop but I figure its better than nothing :/. If you mix it really well so theres no bumps (sometimes I used a whisk) its OK. I'm over 8 weeks out now so I can usually get all my protein in with food now so I dont have to use it too much anymore, thankfully
  3. I was concerned about that so I had a food diary that I took to my last appt and looking over it, theres no need for shakes. Apparently all my NUT wants is for me to eat the 60-80g of protein, so thats what I tend to go by. I figure they get paid to know what they're talking about. I still pick some up once in a while to try, but its always the same. The texture is so disgusting that I cant get-and keep-them down. I definitely dont do as well with my Water though. I think I need to up my game there
  4. I think every Dr is different because mine says no. She says theres so much crammed into a protein shake that theres not really any "liquid" left.
  5. No I dont drink those anymore at all. I try to get my daily protein with chicken and cheese and tuna fish. Usually, I have no problems exceeding my protein goals for the day. I figured I'd rather eat chicken for Breakfast lunch and dinner than drink the shakes. I could tolerate them totally fine before my surgery, but after, the smell and consistency make me gag.
  6. Thats how I started out too, now I'm up to 40 mins on the treadmill, 15 on the elliptical and 20 on a recumbent bike. A lot less than others doing it longer than me, but I feel like I'm getting different areas and my heart rates up there, so thats all that matters. Good luck to you!
  7. Thanks everyone! I still dont feel so hot, but not like earlier. I will definitely call my Dr Monday because I'm a little freaked out that it happened so out of the blue, in the worst place. Well, 2nd worst place, I guess it would have been worse if I'd been driving :/
  8. mkambalimath....................I think, lol
  9. I cringed when I saw it. I guess I kind of feel the same way as everyone else, thinking of myself doing it and never having the guts for such a thing, buy good for her to get out there and get it! Nick Cannon was pretty freakin hilarious too! I like how Howie was diggin her, hehe
  10. I dont know if this is the right place to put this post, but today at work I almost fainted. SOOO embarrassing. We're talking, right in the middle of ringing up a customer at the store I work, I got tunnel vision, weird noise in my head and could barely make it off the sales floor before collapsing on the floor. I didnt actually faint, but I was sweating profusely, like dripping, and my hands and legs were shaking so bad, I had a cup of water in my hand and water was spilling out of it. A few minutes before this happened, I started getting warm, and really felt thirsty. This was only the 3rd real day of me working, and the 1st time I met the manager so I feel like a complete and utter ass. I'm still not feeling that great. Has this happened to anyone else before? I'm wondering if I'm a little dehydrated? I went to a Zumba class this morning from 8-9. Had cheese and crackers on my way to the class. Then around 1130-12 I had 1/2 a tuna sandwich. I didnt have anything else to eat after that. The incident was around 4ish. I only had about 20oz of water. Could it be from my lack of food or drink? God I never want to have that happen in public again!
  11. Thanks Fluffy and Lissa, I really appreciate it! Its weird because I just had 2 people send me a friend request because of a response that I posted on there to someone who was talking about how terrible people that "screw their bodies" are because they eat less than 1200 calories, LOL. I posted that basically they dont know what someone situation is so they shouldnt judge and now I have 2 new friends that have had WLS Next time I go over there I will look you guys up! :)
  12. You look great, keep up the good work!
  13. I just got out of a FOUR WEEK STALL! I was stopped at a loss of 30 lbs since i was 4 weeks out. Talk about being beside myself! I just lost 5 more lbs this week though so looks like I'm in the clear again....for now This is the absolute worst part of having the surgery for me now. Knowing that sometimes the scale wont move, even when I've had most of my stomach removed
  14. Good for you! Keep up the good work
  15. I started using MFP because I saw a lot of people on here using it, and I like it to see how my calories and fitness can be recorded, but other than that, I really HATE IT. The people on there are psycho! Every single time I venture to look at posts people put, they are SO negative. I've really only seen one negative post on this site since I've been on it, but that site is freakin crazy. Those people are SO judgmental about what other people post, how many calories their friends eat, who their friends can be. They get really nasty if someone says something they don't agree with. I've never seen anything like it. I only have my sister as a friend anyway, because its mostly for me to record my info, but if I wanted to have friends I would be scared! I'm glad that I have this site! Its way more supportive, I guess because we're all in the same boat here. We understand if we're only eating 800 calories we're not anorexic, we just cant fit more in. Geez! I totally feel like the people on MFP are just trying to show off their muscles or "education" on what they think is the right way to lose weight or work out.
  16. Good job! I broke my stall Monday too, lol. I've lost 5 lbs since Monday :)
  17. I dont know about ProForm ellipticals, but I had a PF treadmill that was really good. Very sturdy and lots of options.....of course, it turned into a clothes hanger before I sold it over a yr ago, lol
  18. I was just looking on Craigs list an ebay at exercise equipment for when Im ready to purchase something. I see a lot of Golds Gym ellipticals for sale and am wondering why....is it just because most people buy the equip and never use it? Or is that a bad brand? I thought I read on here where a couple people didnt like the Golds Gym brand. What do you guys think about getting used equipment? Is it better to just invest in something from a retail store? Just looking for some thoughts
  19. My parents were very against it too. They thought it was way too drastic a step. My mother, whos been overweight her entire life, said, "If you know you will only be able to eat 1/4 cup of something and thats going to make you lose weight, then why cant you just do that without the surgery? You dont need surgery to tell you if you eat a tiny bit you will lose weight".........WTF? I thought she totally lost her mind. Obviously, if I could eat "a tiny" by myself I would have, lol. Anyway, they both still came to our house out of state to take care of my son while I had the surgery and then I stayed 2 weeks with them at their house. After I got home and they realized I was still alive, they were much more supportive. They were just scared, which I dont blame them. You need to do whats best for you to be healthier and happier. Good luck with your journey!
  20. Thats awesome! Good job! I'm hoping to reach it by Christmas (conservatively) LOL
  21. I purchased an XL shirt last week. Im in a Womens 2x thats a little loose right now. Its a 3/4 sleeve from WalMart that was on clearance for $1, LOL. I figured it would be cute in the fall. Its funny that I look at buying clothes for me right now the same way I look at buying for my 3 yr old son. Trying to guess what the size will be next to get things on clearance
  22. I wish I would have taken the pre-op a little more seriously. I didnt even really follow mine that well, just the last week when it was supposed to be 2 weeks. I think if I would have lost 20lbs on the pre op like a lot of other people here have, I would be at 55lbs lost now! I cant even imagine what that would be like
  23. Hey Lissa, since I'm so sore today, do you think I should not go do any cardio today? I havent been this sore EVER since starting my gym. I dont want to hurt myself. I cant believe how sore my core and knees are right now!
  24. I think it depends on if you're working or not too. I wasn't working when I lost my 1st 20lbs so I didnt care that my clothes were really big. Once I got a job though, I bought 2 pair of pants, one pr 1 size smaller and 1 was 2 sizes smaller than I used to wear and a couple shirts. Thats all I wanted to invest in just in case . I agree with Lissa on work out clothes. Even though I wouldn't normally wear anything even remotely tight, my work out pants are because I don't want to have to keep buying them. For work out tops though, I just end up wearing my regular shirts that are too big now, lol.
  25. I didnt have any at my incision sites, but the right side where they pulled my stomach out (which hurt the most after my surgery) is VERY sore today. Honestly, Im all sore, but thats the worst so I dont know if that muscle still isnt completely healed or what. Im 8 weeks out today.
