Ms. AntiBand...love the name! My daughter had the band last year. I would not recommend to anyone. She has PCOS and had we known, we would have gone with either the sleeve or RNY.

Great job! Congratulations. Over 100 pounds in less than a year! What was your starting weight?

I am so sorry your co-worker decided to push her own views on you. Keep up the good work and positive attitude. Don't doubt your decision based on the narrow minded view of one person.

The sleeve has only been around for the last 8-9 years and some insurances are just now starting to cover it.

At my pre-op at the weight loss clinic, I found out that they will staple, but not stitch to reinforce. I won't have a drain tube and I can expect one overnight. Most of the pain is associated with gas and mostly in the shoulder, but walking really helps. The stomach is removed from the right incision so that is where any tenderness and pulling will be from. Very excited and ready for the next stage of my weight loss journey. I lost 100 lbs on my own, couldn't get below 190, even though my ideal weight is 110. I didn't weight enough to get approved for surgery, gained 50 pounds and lost 20 over the last 6 months. Got approved for surgery and now over the next few months, I can expect to reach my goal of 110! So happy!

I got my report time for surgery tomorrow...I have to be at the hospital at 0745. So excited!

Do you have to weigh-in the day of surgery or the day before or not at all? I suppose with insurance approval, tracking weight is no longer a requirement???

I've already been approved by insurance, had my 6 month dr. visits, psych eval, etc. Surgery is Tuesday, 26 Mar. So, I'm not sure what this "pre-op" will be all about. This is usually done two weeks prior to surgery, but I have already done my 2-week liquid diet.

I got my surgery date! Tuesday, 26 Mar. I had originally wanted the sleeve, but at the time I started the process, my insurance didn't approve the sleeve so I converted to a traditional bypass. Now, my insurance does approve the sleeve and that is what I am approved for. I haven't done a whole lot of research on the sleeve. Can you tell me your experiences? Thanks.

I got my surgery date! Tuesday, 26 Mar! Insurance approved the sleeve though. I had started my journey last July and requested the sleeve, but was told my insurance didn't approve the sleeve. Since then, they have started to cover the sleeve. I don't want to start the approval process all over again. I believe that things happen for a reason. Anyone have experience with the sleeve? Thanks.

So, I found out that my insurance approved my surgery (yeah!), but now I'm waiting for the scheduler to call with a date. The end of this week will be my second week of my liquid diet. Do you think I will still have to wait 2 weeks for surgery? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

My opinion is the flavor penetrates the skin, but not much fat.

Hi. I am looking for some advice. My daughter is working to meet insurance requirements for revision surgery. She has PCOS and severe early onset arthritis caused by an accident several years ago. We didn't know that the band isn't very effective for women with PCOS and although she lost 60 pounds right after the band, she has slowly put it back on over the last year or so. She hasn't had her band filled or gone for a band check in over a year as she has a hard time even getting 6 oz in at each meal and most times doesn't even eat 3 meals a day. When she had her band, her dad's insurance covered it. Now that she is 21, I put her on my insurance. My question is, will my insurance see the procedure as a new procedure or a revision? What are the chances of her getting approved without regular band checks/fills? Thanks for any advice you can give.

Congratulations! I got approved today as well. No date yet, but I should know by Friday.

I got the word today...finally approved for surgery! Scheduler will call me by Friday to set the date! New life ~ here I come...watch out!

In my opinion, who you tell is your business. When other people ask, just tell them you have been working hard at getting fit and healthy which is true. Surgery is only the start, you still have to exercise and watch your diet. Good luck.
