    Charlie Horse Omg!

You can eat bananas. They've always been on my list from the nutritionist and surgeon. There is a particular reason why some may not be able to have certain food, but bananas aren't off limits.

    Choosing A Goal Weight

My doctor had me set my goal based on the weight I need to be in order to have a normal BMI. For me, at 5'6, that's 145.
  4. Welcome and congrats on the decision to change your life!

    Ugggg

Google green tea...it's usually highly caffeinated and can cause high BP.
  6. Almost everyone stalls at 3 or 4 weeks. I did too. I stalled for 8 days and then started losing .5-1 lb a day.

    Whats That Tube?

We don't all get them. I didn't have drains and neither did any of my friends or family members. It really depends on our surgeon and your own individual health needs.
  8. Has anyone noticed that since updating the iPhone you can't post replies to threads?

    Why Can't I Post?

I just discovered that hitting return a couple of times helps. If the reply is more than one line it allows you to send.

    Clothes For Hospital Stay

I didn't have a drain or catheter, and I never changed clothes. The gown was so much easier to wear than clothes. I wore the same sweats home that I wore to check in.

Im Sorry But I Have To Ask.

My surgeon said it could take 5-7 days for a post op BM. If longer than 7 days he said use a Fleets enema because nothing you take by mouth at that point will do any good. I finally went at 5 days post op.

Amout Of Food Your Able To Hold

Dense protein fills me up after about 2-3 ounces and I'm 6 weeks out. I found that crackers etc are "slider" foods and provide no restriction so I have to steer clear of those. My surgeon said no salad/raw veggies for 3 months so I haven't been having that.
  13. It took about 8 days for my body to adjust to no carbs. You will feel weak and lightheaded as you detox, but it gets better, epecially if you stay hydrated. You have to go low carb and shrink the liver so it is easier for the surgeon to manipulate during surgery.
  14. I had a one week post op appointment. After that I go in as follows: One month post op Three months post op Six months post op Twelve months post op

    5 Weeks Out N Miserable

Forgot to mention that Costco/SAMs club Premier brand protein shakes are one of only drinks that work for me. 30 grams protein in 11oz

    5 Weeks Out N Miserable

Have you tried the Metamucil capsules? I'm 5 weed out and that's what I take. Sorry you're so miserable. I'm having a hard time with food a nausea but I'm just relying on my protein shakes and pushing through.

    Home From Surgery

I had a wonderful experience like you too. Great hospital stay, relatively little pain, no post op nausea or issues. More people with great experiences should post them like this!

    Feeding The Husband

Go to Dream Dinners and pre make a bunch. Then they just thaw and heat. Well worth it while you recover.

    Upbeat Song Suggestions

    Eye of the Tiger lol!
  21. I don't read anyone claiming to be an expert, just friendly people responding to a post for help according to what their surgeons have told them. If you don't want answers, don't ask.

    8 Days Post Op. (9-11-12)

Hang in there. I didn't feel decent for 2-3 weeks. I could hardly get protein in until well into week 2. Staying hydrated is the most important thing. It gets better!
  23. I was told nothin acidic, including tomatoes, for 12 weeks.
