    The Bullet

    I got a knock-off brand at Khol's department store for $25.
  3. I did a 1000 calorie (or less) diet, mostly liquids except for some chicken and fish, for 18 days and I lost 20 pounds. And I cheated a little over Easter. I found that when I cheated, I instantly became ravenously hungry... but when I stayed on the diet, I was not really physically hungry.
  4. I also had to do a 10 day liquid diet, and before that a week of 1000-cal/day low-everything diet... for me, the hunger subsided in about 3 or 4 days. I lost a total of 20 pounds. Stepping on the scale daily helped me see my progress, and of course, having a thread here (Aril 2007 Bandsters) to sort of go through it with others. Try different shakes/powders, if you can. I experiemented a lot ebfore I found which ones would fill me up the most. unjury and EAS AdvantEdge worked the best for me. And SF Jello, pudding, popcicles helped a lot, too. Best of luck to you. If I can do it, then anyone can do it.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Hello everyone! I posted briefly one day post-op but will share a little more details now that I am really back.... First of all, thanks to everyone here for your support, encouragement, sharing, and caring! In the hospital, I even wanted a computer so I could read y'alls posts! I will mainly focus on pain here, becaue that is what I wanted to know more about as my surgery date approached. My surgery was Monday (04-16) morning. When they woke me up from surgery, I had to go do the barium test without pain meds. I was begging for something for the pain, but the nurse said I had to be awake to stand infront of the xray machine. So they wheeled me to the xray room, had to stand, drink barium, wait a minute, then be still for the xray. Everything went down just fine, and they had a shot ready for my IV as soon as I sat down in the wheelchair. To be honest, I could have skipped that whole episode. But, it was necessary. I remember being so very relieved when they said the barium went down ok. No catheder. This meant LOTS of getting up to go to the bathroom every 20 minutes or so during my entire overnight stay in the hospital. I was wishing I had a catheder so bad. I just kept telling myself that all this walking was good. But it hurt like hell to get in and out of bed. Home Tuesday morning, and almost no pain. Just a little tiny bit of gas- in no way is the gas pain- in my experience- the worst. Almost no soreness around incision sites- just a real pulling and tightness pain in the muscle where the port is. That is the worst pain for me. My last two pain meds in the hospital were codine, which is a step down from the morphine they ahd been giving me. THis was at my request. I took some codine today, but am switching to regular tylenol now. Since waking up from surgery, have not had any trouble getting liquids down, and sipping feels completely natural. Not even thinking about food. Yuck! I am a little more than 48 hours post-op and I feel pretty good.

Banded yesterday, Monday. Home today, Tuesday. Feeling pretty good. Sore, but off of Morphine and taking Loritab now, should be on tylenol by tomorrow I think. Some pain yesterday, but mostly soreness and gas. Walking, walking, walking in little baby laps. Will post more tomorow. Can't believe I am banded!!!!!!

I saw some pictures o fher in a bikini, and she is skinny-mini and I could easily see 4 or 5 tiny scars, like what you would see on anyone who had laproscopic procedure.... but wonder if the images were a little photoshopped. Just cuz if youa re keeping it a secret, why wear the bikini? Then again, Satrr Jones wore a bikini and let her scars show, and she was keeping it a secret, too! You are right... we'll never know.

TerriDoodle... I am in Houston, too! Just outside really, in Katy. So I have to agree with you on everyone here loving James Avery (started my first charm bracelet when I was 10 or 11) and also about weather here means you gotta join a gym! I actually live a block away from LifeTime Fitness, so I know I will see tons of people there that I know, and I just can't waddle my way in right now!!!! Would consider joining Curves right now, not embarrassed there, but I need a place with child care. So, I 'll just keep walking 1 mile/eveings with my double stroller... for now.
  10. Can you please tell me more about this powder called "Daily 5"?:help: I did a google search but came up with nothing. Sure would appreciate the tip!!!!!!!!

Bandedme... were you on a liquid pre-op diet? I am. I have been thinking about a "last meal", although, I must admit, I already did this before I started liquid diet. Plus I am worried that my Doc. would find out during surgery because he's gonna see the stomache and intestines!!!!!!!! THANKS BANDED, GR8, and TERRIDOODLE for the details. I feel a little better now.

For me, the hunger totally subsided by day 3 or 4. I am on day 11 and I am doing very well: almost no hunger and the pounds are dropping off quickly. I have 6 more days, and I am confident that I can do it. You can, too! One thing I noticed was that if I "eat" like even just a little bit, then I am suddenly ravenously hungry and miserable. I already posted my trials of Easter weekend!!!! I felt horrible. Next day, back on program, and I felt so much better. Also, I would suggest trying different types of protein drinks. And, I read on this thread that someone started using Chromium Picolate (sp?) - from the vitamin aisle- like ChromMax and I started it today and I swear I can tell a difference in appetite and energy!!!!! Water has been helpful- with Crytal Light. I never before understood why people like the stuff, but now I am totally on board with it. Can you try that Soy milk to combat the runs?

Bandme & GR8... if you happen to read this.... please please please tell us in more detail about your surgery experiences! I really am interest in PAIN- like, immediately following, the next day, etc. How would you describe it? My band-day is next Monday and I am starting to freak out a little bit! thanks!!!!!!!!!!

I will not fall off the pre-op diet wagon again! I decided to eat a little "real food" during the TWO family gatherings we had over the holiday weekend, and while it felt so good to eat, man!, did I pay for it the rest of the day and night! I had been doing so well on my pre-op diet, and the hunger had really subsided. I was averaging 900 cals per day, and losing fast. So I ate a very small amount for Easter celebrations... but every bite made me more hungry. I could have eaten the entire buffet. Not kidding. I ate very little, compared to the usual Holiday dinners, but still I ate and I was so desperately hungry the rest of the day and night... but also incredibly nausiated. You know how on Survivor (the reality show) they starve and then win some food but then it makes thm all sick? That is how I felt Sat. and Sun. Today, back on low-calories low-carbs high-protein (you know the drill) and I feel much better. I will not fall off the wagon again!!!! Not worth it. (First time in my life I've ever said that about food!)

Hi everyone! I found a magic-bullet-knock-off at Khol's department store for $25. But it puts so many air bubbles in the drink, that I have to let it sit for like 30 minutes before drinking (with a straw! *wink*). Maybe I am doing it wrong? I also bought a scale for the bathroom. This is the first time in my adult life that I have owned a scale. I used to just find out how much I weighed (and gained) when I went to the doctor, which I avoided at all costs. But I am now obssessed with getting on the scale- loving watching it go down!!!!!

How's everyone doing on their pro-op diets (those that have to do this)? I started the diet early due to very bad eating recently, and I lost 7 pounds in 4 days! If I had known I could lose that much so quickly, it would have made the first 2 days easier. Just want to give some encouragement to anyone who is struggling with this. How will tomorrow be? I don't know. But I am stickin' to it! .

Tracy... earlier I did the same thing. I was really hungry (day 3 liquids for me) and I decided to chew a piece of gum. I didn't notice getting hungrier, but man did I get nautious!!!!! weird.

Hi, everyone! I don't post on here too often, becaue I have a baby and a toddler, but I read this thread at least twice/day! I just want to say that I am also glad I found you guys! I am not telling anyone but DH about my surgery, so I do not want to go to a support group- fear of running into someone I know. I realize that would mean that they are also having it done, but I just want to keep this very private for myself. But I feel as though I have jut as much support or more by having this particular thread. I started my 1000 calorie/day liquid diet today (6 days earlier than doc requires because I was eating so badly since last doctor visit!) and so far, I am doing really ok! I love the sugar-free fudgsicles and the protien shakes are really filling. It's only the first day, and it's only 2:30 pm, but I am not hungry and I have only had 500 calories so far. I signed up to use fitday.com and it is awesome! It tracks everything you eat (you have to do the input!) by calories, protein, carbs, fat.... everything! It's a big motivator for me. One more thing, since surgies are starting for our group, please considering praying daily for those on our list for having surgery that day (if you are not into prayer, please disregard; hope I am not offending anyone). And as you have your surgery, please check in here-or have your significant other check in on your behalf- as soon as possible after surgery, so that we know that you are ok and everything went well. Enjoy the weekend!!!!!!!!

Do you all get your Rx from general practitioner/PCP or do you see a Psychologist/Psychiatrist? I have a great PCP and I want to ask to start antidep. but I don't know how to bring it up. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

    Lower Body Lift Fun!

Puddin- I've been reading your posts regularly, but have finally decided to give you a shout. First of all, congratulations on your weightloss. Amazing. I feel so motivated by your changes, in appearance and in lifestyle (although I won't be training for any triathalons, I want to start being physically active!). Although I am not LDS, I am a Christian and, when I was young and single, I lived how I wanted to live at the moment... feeling like I could be good once I got married. I struggled with a lot of the same things that you describe here (sex!). I realized that living that way wasn't going to allow me to be on a path to finding Mr.Right- because Mr. Right wouldn't want a girl who was living immorally. As soon as I cleaned up my act, I met him. We've been married for 12 years now and just adopted 2 beautiful baby boys. Start as you mean to go on. Now, back to BandTalk.... when do we get some updated pics? Remember, you are such an inspiration so don't be shy about giving us more pics!!!!
