    Where

I think it's different for everyone but for me it's been everywhere. Shoes, bras, rings, watch, pants, tops all getting too big. I think the only thing I haven't had to adjust has been a ball cap but if I lose hair I'm sure that will have to be tightened up soon too
  4. Drying my clothes on high hoping they shrink too!

  5. I know exactly what you mean!! It now seems that every commercial is either for food or a diet program or some all you can eat buffet. I mute the commercials now if we watch the tv at all!
  6. Great workout today, time to step it up!

    Preop Diet Or Not?

I was not required to do a pre-op diet, and I did not do one. I am doing well and I'm on track for losing at a pace acceptable to my doc and to me. I have not had difficulty sticking to my post-op diet. I am 7+ weeks out. I think that coping with hunger and portion limitation would have been very difficult pre-op. I know the pre-op serves a valuable purpose for many but I was relieved not to have to do one and I trust my doc knew what he was doing not requiring one for me. I have had zero complications other than some weakness in the beginning due I'm sure to low calorie intake at first. Good luck to you!

    Bad Day

Sounds pretty normal. Week 3 is pretty fresh in my mind (week 6 for me) I had days just like you describe. For me, I think those days where a result of my body just not having enough calories in the previous days and wanted a rest. Usually I was up and able the next day to start on getting my liquid and protein in. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

    Bmi Of 35.

I had the surgery at a BMI of 35 with no co-morbities. I expect to lose 100% of the weight to take me to a normal BMI and my surgeon agrees this is a realistic goal.

    Alcohol?

Oh the docs advise also included taking my PPI before alcohol

    Alcohol?

I've had a wine, vodka and clamato, vodka and lemonade, rye and water...not all at once on different occassions! It just doesn't seem the same as before I never actually ended up finishing any of them but I felt like I was taking part. I did not feel the fast dizzy effects that some speak of but I'm sure it's different for everyone. My docs plan says I can have a drink after 30 days just with all the calorie warnings ect that everyone has heard. I'm lucky lately if I get 600 cal in daily anyway so I counted the cocktail in my calories for the day. My only other worry was that when I drank in the past I would lose my food portion control...muchies and I would'nt want to unwittingly put myself in that position right now. But so far I haven't felt like more than one drink anyway.
  14. My husband went along with me but there where several other patients there on their own. I would not hesitate going alone knowing what I know now. When I booked the surgery I fully intended to go by myself but my husband had the time available to accompany me (and he never turns down a trip to MX even if he had to sleep on a couch for three nights) I'm happy to answer any questions you have if you want to message me.

    Mushie

My doc recommended if I had progressed to a food or stage that did not agree with my sleeve to back up to liquid for a few days. He said a stomach that is irritated or upset will be that way for one or two days. So maybe it's not all mushies but the particular mushie you had disagreed with you and your tummy needs a day or two to recover before trying again. I don't know if vomiting will hurt your sleeve but I can imagine it's not good for it to go through that trauma too soon and too often. Hope you feel better soon.

    I Want Salty And Flavor!

Do you take a PPI? Is refux from spicy food something you are afraid of or have you already experienced it? I have been eating any and all spice for the past couple of weeks (even cottage cheese gets curry in my house). I don't think I'd eat a big ole hot pepper to challenge the stomach gods but I for sure have not given up flavor. We use Himalayan salt it has many health benefits, helping to keep the body in balance, without the negative things that come along with regular processed table or sea salt. So I don't feel bad about adding it to my food, in fact its good for you. I think I know how you feel, there's not much room so what I'm eating better be worth it nutritionally and taste wise! I take a PPI morning and night as prescribed by my doc for the first 3 months, maybe that is what is saving me from heartburn but so far I feel like I can tolerate pretty much all spice and flavor.
  17. I am 6 weeks out and I had a small salad (under a cup probably 1/2) last week. It was delish and I was craving it. I had, had 80g of protein that day already from bfst and lunch so I wasn't worried about that. But if I had to fit protein in too it would have been a challenge. I didn't experience any negative effects.
  18. I couldn't take the "yo-yoing" anymore. I cut the string to the darn thing!! Like you I enjoy my exercise, it's just hard to stick to when you're over weight and feeling it's effects. I have never had trouble losing weight when I set my mind to it. I've lost the same 60-80 pounds over and over again. I have always struggled keeping it off. I've had a trainer, last year I did P90X for 90 days, I've eaten clean, I've done all the right things...for awhile. About four years ago I started to investigate WLs surgery as a permanent tool/solution. My insurance would'nt cover me as my BMI was just 35 with no co-morbities. I dropped the idea. This June I started to get serious about losing the weight again and decided I wasn't going the same route. I didn't call my PCP, I didn't go to any seminars, I didn't run it by a whole lot of folks. I made the decision to make the surgery appointment with Dr. Aceves bought the plane ticket and haven't looked back. Personally I have struggled with this too long, and I don't want to waste another year wishing for a different result from doing the same thing over again. With every pound I lose I feel like I am, for the first time, kissing it good-bye forever. I'm going to use this tool for my future and I'm confident in my decision. I highly recommend Dr. Aceves and his team. The facility (Almater Hospital is top notch) and his team is highly qualified, in my opinion. I am only 6 weeks out, I have a way to go on my journey but my life is changing for the better everyday (Even today when I took that painful one bite past my full mark!!) You are right, we don't know what they might know in 10 years about the sleeve. I thought about the same thing. We do know today the ill effects of obesity. For me, I didn't want to spend the next 10 yrs waiting to find out. I wanted to live my life to the fullest in the mean time. Good luck to you as you consider your options, its a big unreversable decision, but for me, I am so glad I've done it.
  19. Had that one bite too many at lunch today. Yikes!!

    Straws?

Why are we not to drink from a straw? I know I read it somewhere but can't remember why.

Vegetarian, What Is It? And Who?

Vegetarianism is absentence from eating meat (any meat...no birds, no fish, no seafood, no beef, no pork all of these are meats). Lacto-Ovo Vegetarians supplement their diet with dairy products and eggs. Vegans do not eat meat or any animal products (dairy or egg derived). Many people call themselves flexitarians these days adding fish, animal products, or lean meats when they feel their bodies or lifestyle requires it. There are benefits to being selective about the meats that you eat but in the end if it was a living animal/fish at some point it is meat! Theres no getting around it.

    Isopure- Liquid Protein

http://www.luckyvitamin.com/p-232400-natures-best-isopure-zero-carb-rtd-variety-pack-12-bottles I drink one everyday. I like the zero carb & 40 gram protien and 20oz liquid I get from it. This place has the Variety pack for $39 I order 3 at a time to get free shipping. Some one did describe it the other day as drinking "fruit flavored dryer lint" which cracked me up but I guess it's different for everyone.

    Can't Afford Plastics :,(

One month out means you have probably had little chance to change your body/skin situation through exercise and weight training. I know I was only released to walk in the first 4 weeks and gradually increase activity doing ab and crunches after 8 weeks so maybe there will be some work you can do at the gym to combat some of the problems. It might not fix everything but could bring you a long way to being happy with the new smaller you! At least that's what I'm hoping for with my own situation
  25. I lost 28 pounds in the first 30 days and I have been at the same weight now for the past 10 days. I'm trying not to get too frustrated. I know I'm following all of the guidelines so it has to come off eventually but it's frustrating for sure!! Can't wait for the scale to start moving again. I've stopped weighing everyday I hope to get a nice surprize next time I get on.
