You're my hero. I only ever go on one thread now for Aussie sleevers and that's only because they are now dear friends. Everyone else is talking about the same old things all the time and I have a short attention span. I'm bored of this whole site and rarely post on any other threads. I believe I have an interesting story, I got very sick almost immediately after my sleeve and ended up at goal after only 3 months. I've tried to help others who want it but am now just a bit fed up. I will stalk the forums occasionally, I'm glad I stumbled across you're rant.

My bmi is 21 at the moment. You're right. If I'd lost it over a year they'd be proud if me, but some family I hadn't seen since I had lost 40kg+ in 5ish months. It's the speed.

Ok, so I need everybody's help here please. I know I'm not going to have people take this post the wrong way here, as may happen on other threads, but I really value all your honest opinions. This I have already told you all, but to refresh your memories: I started with a heaviest weight of about 110kg. Had surgery on 13th August at 96kg. Started exercising and was really seeing consistent results of about 1/2 to 1 kg per week. Mid November, got glandular fever. Started losing up to 4kgs per week for close to a month. At my 3 month surgeon check, my bloods were fine and I had already lost 124% of my excess weight. Dietician advised against "trying" to lose more at the moment and focus on getting healthy, even if that meant putting a few kgs back on. I stopped exercising and rested. I even put on 2kg over Christmas. Here is my dilemma. I am 1kg away from my absolute minimum I want to weigh of 58kg. I am feeling better, but not back to 100% yet, prob about 70% if I'm honest. In the next couple of weeks, I'd like to start working out again, to rebuild the muscle I lost while I was sick and to tighten all the flabby skin I have, and also, because I can. I finally feel comfortable enough to go to the gym in shorts and actually do a decent work out. I have been told by so many of my friends and family that I shouldn't lose any more and that with my cheek bones sticking out I look sick. I just came back from the beech and saw this photo and all I can see is my flat chest and my ribs and hips sticking out. Have I gone too far? Should I start working out? Should I wait until I'm 100% and have put on another kg or 2. Should I be trying to stop or let my body find its natural resting point? I've come this far with this and because of years of yoyo dieting I'm really scared that if I stop losing now, I'll waste the "honeymoon period" and I'll pile it all back on again and then some. It's not easy to see the scales go up and not fear that its going to spiral out of control again. I don't know what to do. I'll post a couple of before and after pics and I really value totally honest opinions. Thank you. I really don't want anybody else to compare themselves with me. I got really sick and wouldn't wish that on anybody. The sleeve is a great way to lose weight. I've lost it far to quickly and now there are so many rumours going around work about me, like that I have breast cancer because I've had a double mastectomy, and tired and sick all the time and my hair is now so so thin. What should I do?

Reconstructive surgery - skin removal
puppyphat replied to Looking Ahead's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been researching a full body lift and think that's the way to go for me, but I'm only 5 months out. Would love to hear of personal results so I can decide (and save up the money) to do it early next year. How long have you been at goal? My surgeon recommended 12 months at goal b4 skin removal. Really interested in the responses you get. -
Is it right that you were sleeved on the 10th of December? I was on liquids only for the first full 2 weeks, then very fine purée with no lumps for 2 weeks. Couldn't go to soft food until 1 month post op, full solids, not for a month after that. If I've got the date wrong, please ignore my post, if I haven't, I would talk to your dietitian. I was sleeved in August and still am yet to touch soft drink and a small sausage roll. You may be pushing your new sleeve too far too fast. I would imagine that you have a greater risk of leak because its a revision? Please be very careful. Doing the tourist thing for me at less than a month out would have meant a kids size boost low fat smoothie with an extra Protein boost. Not much protein in coke. Please don't take this as a lecture, but if it made you feel so uncomfortable, you were sick, your sleeve didn't like it, and doing things like this is how we learn.

?B12 Deficiency - Not well and don't know what to do.
puppyphat replied to cookie2012's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am currently recovering from glandular fever and feel exactly as you described, only much worse. Drs don't generally test for it in a full blood test, it has to be specially requested. You can't do anything for it, but its worth finding out. -

Sydney Gal Waiting On Surgery.

I was private at the mater. It was more like being in a hotel than a hospital. Any elective surgery in the future will be there. -
Sydney Gal Waiting On Surgery.

Stayed in hospital 4 nights. I went to the mater. He said he could do the surgery 2 weeks after initial consult, I had it 6 weeks after though as I had to apply for annual leave. -
Sleeve before or after pregnancy?
puppyphat replied to carlyq's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I know this sounds very morbid and I'm playing devil's advocate here, but if you have a baby in the next year, then when the baby is less than a year old, would you want to risk having what is essentially a very risky, elective surgery? How old would your baby have to be before you could contemplate possibly side effects keeping you in hospital for 3 months or more? How big do you want the age gap to be between children? If your baby is 1 year old when you have the surgery, you wait a year to 18 months to lose the weight, then have another one, that is going to be about 3 years difference. If you do have complications, god forbid, could you survive financially without your income, plus having to hire someone else to look after your baby and your house while you can't? If you have surgery first, you can be selfish and focus only on you. Once you have children, your whole world changes and you will never again be your own number one priority. You can lose the weight, then start a family, not put on much weight in the pregnancy, bounce back to your pre baby weight, fall pregnant again (if that's what you wish), chase your toddler around and be a fit, healthy young mummy. It is your choice and only you can decide, but as a mother, I can tell you that it is so much harder being fat, and the decision to have something as dramatic as 85 percent of your stomach removed is so much harder to make. Good luck. -
I know I said I wasn't going to weigh myself again until the new year, but.... I had to share this. My bmi is now closer to "underweight" than it is to "overweight". Still officially have 2.9kg to go, but I think I'm done.

NSAIDs naughty/nice poll
puppyphat replied to Tenshi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am just recovering from glandular fever. If anybody ever wanted NSAIDs, it was me. Surgeon said no so I took paracetamol with codeine, which made me vomit. I ended up taking only bed rest and fluids. And cool showers to bring down the fever.
