Incisions!
I am post op 10 days, I have been itchy since day 3. I think its glue too All my incisions have a little rash and itch like crazy. Appt on Wednesday but until then any suggestions? [/ Hydrocortisone cream helped and was approved by my DR, but mostly just had to wait it out, and try not to scratch. My main incision still isn't healed all the way, it is making progress though.

NSV shout outs
While I was at work last night I had a patient's family member ask me if I had lost weight. Very confused because I had never seen this person before, I replied "yes". She said that I no longer looked like the girl on my badge .

Stupid Carb Question.
When you guys are staying under 40 grams of carbs a day are you staying under total carbs or Net carbs(total carbs - fiber) of 40 grams?

Incisions!
My doctor used the glue. Turned out I was allergic to it. My large incision still isn't healed(I am 9 weeks post op). I also had massive itching and rash ( doctor thinks is from the glue) that showed up about two weeks after surgery. It's cool that the doctor gives you the option.

Pcos Sleevers. Anyone?
I have PCOS (such an evil thing it is). I feel like my weight loss has been pretty good and steady so far. I had a one week stall the week after surgery, but other than that I have lost 2-5 pounds a week. I have been exercising and really watching my carbs. I feel a lot better now, than before surgery, I feel like my head is clearer and know I am in control. I was always able to loose weight before surgery by limiting carbs and calories, I just couldn't sustain it. Wishing you the very best surgical experience. It is one of the best things I have ever done!!!!

July 2012 Sleevers? Please Share!
I have had no problems with raw veggies. They fill me up really quickly, but cause me no pain or discomfort and are super satisfying to me right now.

Considering Taking The Plunge
I had very minimal pain. I was surprised at how little discomfort there was. I was only nauseated for a couple hours after surgery and for the three hour car ride home. I went back to working 12 hour shifts after ten days ( just made sure I didn't do any lifting). Never thought about backing out. I was anxious the first couple weeks, worrying about developing a leak and other complications. I have had a great recovery. I would do it again in a heartbeat to feel the way I currently feel.

Did Anyone Not Do A Leak Test?
No leak test for me either. It made me paranoid. When I asked my Sugeons PA she responded that they really arn't necessary, stated she hadn't seen a sleeve pt in her practice that had Developed a leak. Said they didn't even do them till recently and do them for Patient peace of mind and the great insurance reimbursement. The Sugeon does do one in the OR.

Calorie/protein Intake?
I have been eating 600-850 calories a day (usually closer to about 680). My NUT wants me to try to get in at least 800, but I have a hard time doing that unless I'm eating really fatty food wich I don't like doing. I am usually between 60-80 grams of protein. I am almost 7 weeks out, and have been on a "regular" diet since the start of week 5. I try to keep my fat and carbs under 40 grams each a day (though my NUT gave me no recommendation ranges for this.

Drawstrings
- Drawstrings
I have developed a new love for drawstrings as a measurement of my success. I have several pairs of "stretchy" pants with drawstrings from before surgery. I love putting them on now and seeing how loosely the knot is tied. So much fun, makes me smile every time I see it.- Birth Control Pills
I think the doctors usually want you to use alternative BC methods for a month or so after surgery due to the increased risk of blood clots with the pill. I would check with your doctor.- Constipation
I have a nurse friend who swears by lactulose syrup for all of her constipated patients. I have been doing two colace a day and miralax at night with minimal results. I have developed some lactose intolerance with milk so I have thought about making a protein drink with milk, but haven't been brave enough to try it. - Drawstrings
