    Christmas Day Challenge!

Yay! I'm in. I am 153 this morning (up from yesterday ) I would like to be 142 on Christmas. Like someone else mentioned - these mini challenges work best for me. Thanks for starting the thread AKSleever!!

    Advice Please?

Congratulations on your surgery! I suggest warm tea - any kind will do but peppermint went down the best when I was first sleeved. I was also able to drink regular lemon lime gatorade. It gets better I promise!
  3. You could only really see my weight loss in my face and saddlebag area (no more saddlebags!!) until the second week of November. That was when my abdominal area really started shrinking. It has only been this past week that people have stated commenting on my weight loss. Don't get discouraged if you don't lose all over at first - everyone is different but eventually it will come off!
  4. I was swollen for at least 6 wks. I know because 6 weeks after surgery I had book group and someone made a comment about me wearing yoga pants all the time. It was the next week that I wore regular pants and they were not tight.

    Unable To Eat.... Help

I had to drink peppermint tea that was warm (not hot) during times like you are describing. During the first week post-op when I could not drink anything except warm tea and regular lemon-lime gatorade I didn't worry about getting protein.I also had difficulty everytime I moved to different stages. Now I am cleared to eat anything and still I have days when I can't eat - warm tea is a lifesaver for me.
  6. I am officially 152.3 this morning. I wanted to be 150 but this will have to do - I am not upset about not reaching goal, the challenge really kept me motivated.
  7. No I have not exercised at all. I wish I could say that I have - I have started changing my habits by taking the stairs but nothing else.I am very strict on my calorie and Fluid intake, I am not obsessed with carb couting but I do make sure I get my Protein first. I have averaged about 2.5 lbs per week. Thank you for reminding me how fast it is - I really can't see all of the weight I have lost.
  8. OK - I started the challenge at 163.8 and this morning I weighed an even 153.0. I was hoping for more but this is fine for me. I am looking forward to a Christmas Challenge!! I will post my weight tomorrow morning but I doubt I will get to 150 - the good news is that I am wearing a size 10 shirt and a size 10 pants today!!
  9. I am 5'3" and weighed 182 on day of surgery, Sept 10th (192 was high weight last spring) I am currently 153. I wanted to be 150 by Thanksgiving but I don't think I am going to make it....my next goal will be 142 by Christmas.

    Air Headedness- A Real Issue?

I had surgery on 9/10 - the only time I have a problem is when I forget to eat. I now set my alarm to make sure that I don't forget to eat lunch at work.

    No Weight Loss?

Be patient. It will come off. Sometimes in the beginning it is frustrating - I cried the first few weeks at night regretting the surgery because I didn't think it was working fast enough. I am now about 10 weeks post-op and am down nearly 30 pounds. There were some weeks when I lost nothing other weeks when I lost 4-5 pounds.

    I Hate Eating!

I had surgery on 9/10 and I feel the same way - although it is not because I can't tolerate food. I have absolutely no hunger. I have to set an alarm at work so I stop for lunch.

    Plastics

I think the lower lift v tummy tuck really does depend on what you need. I am planning on the tummy tuck next summer - but my friend who had bypass is getting the lower body lift. At my plastics consult I was told I can get the tt, breast lift/reduction, and lipo (if needed) all at the same time. My friend who went to same plastic surgeon was told she would have two procedures because the time for the lower lift (for her) would be too long to add any additional procedure. All of this will depend on your surgeon, what you need, and your health. I don't know any surgeons in your area. Good luck and keep us posted!

    The 11 Make 2 Months

I was sleeved on 9/10 and have lost 25lbs. I thought I was doing great...you are doing amazingly!! Keep it up!
  16. the vitamix is the best. Way better than immersion blender. My sister got me hooked and she has been using hers for a few years. My other sister bought one last year refurbished from the company - I got mine from costco. I still use my immersion blender for some things but I love the vitamix and think you will enjoy it!

    September Sleevers

My surgery was 9/10 and as of this morning I am down 25 lbs. My weight on day of surgery was 184. I am hoping to be 150 by Thanksgiving. I have not had any hunger since I was sleeved so I really have to remember to eat. I have a hard time getting my Protein in.
  19. This all depends on which agent you get when you cross. I crossed with zero problems with my DL. The agent was very nice and just asked why I didn't have my passport. I didn't have any extra inspection or problems. I did hear another agent lecturing someone on why she needed a passport - but they let her through with no extra inspection either.....I am just glad I didn't have to suffer his tirade.

    Post Surgery Care

I have BCBS but didn't qualify for WLS. I called BCBS and found out that complications (with my policy) would be covered. My follow up care was also covered through regular PCP visits. My PCP is very supportive. I would call and talk to your insurance to find out what is covered
  21. One thing I can say is taht I have had no hunger at all since I have had the sleeve. Will you give a link to the calculator you found. I am curious what it says for me. I am glad i have the sleeve. I still have problems eating when I am bored or stressed but with the sleeve I can't eat too much - I was sleeved 9/10 and have lost 24 lbs so far. Good luck
  22. I am 7 wks post op - I eat alot of Halibut, Tilapia, chicken, and eggs. I have tried some recipes from worldaccoringtoeggface - I haven't found anything that I love yet. Eating for me still seems like a chore and I have to remember to eat. I am no hunger at all, which is a good thing! I am also looking for some ideas - I have a real problem controlling my carbs.

    No -One Responds!

I had surgery on Monday and was back to work on Friday. As others have mentioned everyone is different but I would have gone crazy if I stayed home any longer. Of course, I have an office job and don't really ever lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk! I would opt for staying overnight in the hospital. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
  24. I used my cell phone but turned off the data so my phone wasn't constantly checking for emails. My phone bill was not too bad for the convenience - I did use the free wifi in the hotel and clinic.
