  1. Hi,

I don't post very often.....actually it has been a very long time. I do get on line occassional to see what is going on though.

I have been banded since June 30, 2003. I am at 2.8 cc. This last fill has been very tight (October). At first I was vomiting every day. food would go down fine and in about 30 minutes it would decide it did not want to stay. That had seemed to stop, but in the last week it seems to have started up again. My theory is that I have alot of sinus drainage and that is filling up the pouch and there is not enough room for the food too. I never seem to know what food to eat either...pork and beef (steak) are definitely bad, I do not eat bread at all. salad seems ok, usually cottage cheese is ok, but then other times, forget that too.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of behavior with food? Also, my port is pretty sore sometimes. It is positioned in the center of the abdomen just below the breast bone. I am not sure if it is from the vomiting or not.

Just wanted some insight from someone else.

Thanks......Oh, I am not sure, (can't remember the last time I actually got on the scales) but I have lost about 65 pounds.

    Thanks, Kathy

  2. Hi,

I was banded on June 30th, and they also placed my port in the mid-lower chest area. I swear it is almost right across from the band! I am doing pretty good and planning on going to work on Wednesday. It was pretty cool seeing it all during my xray the day after surgery. I am pretty tall, but I feel the port and band sitting there, or at least it feels like it. I am sure that feeling will go away in time.

    Best of Luck to you!

    Kathy

  3. lol.....I thought it was the Mystery Band!! Nevertheless....I think it is great.....If it makes you smile it is so very worth it all. We all know self esteem is what we all need (because of our weight problems)...that is how we ended up here, right!

As far as a name for it, I guess I will have to think on that :D.

God Bless you....and isn't there a saying "Once a bander always a bander"? I thought so too!!

    Kathy

  4. May you continue with God's speed in your recovery.

I thought of you the day of my surgery:cool:

I am doing great and appreciate your great advice prior of the

    procedure.

I liked someone's remark about the "mystery band" still working.

May that be true for you and an inspiration to get through all this.

    God Bless,

    Kathy

  5. Hi Everyone,

I have finally make it to Bandland!! Hooray! I am feeling pretty good. My computer is downstairs, so today it the first day I have gotten on line.

Darcy, I am so excited to have a Band Twin!!

I have been eating liquids....my family had pizza and that really looked good!!

A friend I work with sent me an email welcoming me to the Tiny Tummy Club....how cute! She had the BIG surgery though.

Thank you all for your support,

    I will keep in touch.

    Kathy

  6. Hi Everyone,

I am fairly new to the site but have posted a few times. I have a Surgery Date!!! My Banding Date is June 30th......yes that is next week!! I am very excited. I have been eating a low fat diet for two weeks ( no meat?) but am handling it ok. I friend of mine who had the RU&Y (not sure I spelled that correctly) told me to try coffe with powdered milk for protien. It sure fills me up fast.

I will be having surgery with a fairly new surgeon, the proctor will be there also. I work for a family physican and he has assisted in surgeries with Dr. Edward Cudjoe of alma, Michigan and said he is a great surgeon so I have confidence in him. My family physician (who I work for also) will be in the O.R. with me just to observe.

So, please wish me luck. I would be greatful if anyone has any last minute advice.

    Thanks, Kathy

I am not sure what my BMI is, in the 40's I believe

  7. Hi Everyone,

I finally decided to stay with the Surgeon I am seeing. The staff is awfull, but he is a good Surgeon, Edward Cudjoe, M.D. and is in alma, MI. That is probably the only one I know this far north that does the bands.

I did have my Endoscopy last week Thursday. All went well, they put me completely to sleep ( I like that, I don't want to know what is going on). I woke up and it was all done!

I am scheduled to see him the 10th of June and hopefully will be scheduled for surgery soon after. I will keep you posted.

    Thanks to Everyone,

    Kathy

  8. Hi,

I need to know if anyone has names of physicians in Michigan that are doing the lapband? I have seen a Dr. Cudjoe in alma, MI who is just starting with the lapbands. He does the other surgerys too. Were any of you required to have an Endoscopy before your procedure??? I am just not sure if this is the Surgeon I want to do my procedure, although he is located near me.

    I would appreciate your help.

    Thanks Kathy

I immediatly sensed that he was not all for WSL and then told me that " you people that are overweight don't understand that you can die from this bypass surgery". I told him 2x that I was not having that surgery and tried to explain the band to him. He was very difficult. Not very fat friendly at all. I felt a little humiliated by him. He found it hard to believe that I had no health problems and then insisted on schedualing several other tests for me ... My question... what where some of the tests other people had to have before getting clearence? He said he wouldnt give me surgery clearence till I had a diabetes test ..stress test and a ecco (not sure what that is) and a bunch of blood work. They did a EKG in the office and he said " it was normal for someone as big as you". he really was a prick. I also want to thank everyone for all the great information it has helped me a lot.
