  1. My surgery date is 12/20 with Dr. Strickland in Lexington' date=' SC. I've had a hard time on this 2 week pre-op diet, so I'm very thankful that its over tomorrow!!! On the other hand I'm scared out of my mind. My 6 year old son is very worried that I won't come home from the hospital and cried b/c he can't come with me.[/quote']

I hear you, I am terrified! But this time tomorrow i am going to be sleeping off the anesthesia and sipping water!

  2. Do men like to give head to a woman with a full bush? Well neither do we! We aren't cave men anymore, technology has made it possible to look our best & from the point of view of an EMT who has seen my fair share of both men & women naked, just shave it, trim it, buzz it....but please god don't let it go wild!!

I know I won't be giving blow jobs to dirty wild haired men anytime soon.

  3. This has gotten ridiculous.

I have been on this site for a long time, reading everything I can, and butter has never been anything but helpful and informative. If you don't understand sarcasm and aren't able to control your own snotty remarks and refrain from accusing someone that is just trying to help, then perhaps this site really isn't for you. There are other sleeve forums, and they certainly are not one size fits all, so maybe there is a better one out there for some of you who are so incredibly offended by butters joking.

Seriously, enough with the drama. If you don't like something, leave. Last I checked you had to be an adult to have this surgery so we should all act like it from here on out.

  4. Well thanks everyone for all the great posts. It sounds like pretty much everyone is glad they did it. I really need to lose some serious weight' date=' and I know there's no way I can do it without some major help.

My date is scheduled for December 28th so Im pretty excited, and pretty scared too.

This forum is really great and a really wonderful resource, and I know I am going to use it again and again over the next year.[/quote']

Orthoman I am on the 20th and totally know how it feels to worry about these things. It's hard thinking about who you might be after surgery. food had always been a part of us & I can't see how it just turns off after surgery, but I am glad it does! Good luck with your surgery!

  5. I am not going to say who on here has done it, but I personally know people who used weights to up their weight high enough. They hid them under spanks and did ankle weights. I also know people who gained 10 or 15 pounds to qualify. I am not telling you what to do, or saying its ok, or that it isn't okay. Just relaying the information I know.

Personally 10 lbs to gain to get the surgery covered isnt a lot. Id do it.

  6. How is everyone doing on pre-op? Today is my 7th day...it is much easier now then before. I have to work harder to get ALL the drinks down...I'm on New Direction Weight Control System packets along with sf jello' date=' popsicles etc. I'm so worried...I was in a situation where someone brought food for me to eat surprisingly (they, along with most everyone else doesn't know I'm having the surgery). I had a very very small bite of what they brought so it seemed that I ate. I really hope those two - three small bites don't cause my surgery to be postponed....thoughts? Think it will be ok? It was back on day 3 or 4. Other than that I think I'm doing pretty good, getting in lots of water-that seems to be key in loosing the weight...9 lbs down this week! [/quote']

Some people don't even have to do a pre op diet at all, or some are allowed to have 1 low carb meal every day. Some only have a 3 day diet. I really don't think 3 bites is anything to worry about. I straight up told my surgeon I would cheat on Monday, I had a huge hard final and I would never have gotten through it on Protein shakes and sugar free Jello. A few bites won't kill you. My surgeon even told me if you really need something you can have some lean Protein. Don't stress at all, you didn't do any damage.

  7. Hello all! I am being sleeved on Dec 20. On day 4 of preop diet and am not loving the Protein Shake thing (like anyone does) but I ordered a bunch of different kinds to try, including the nectar sample pack. What I am wondering, is how do you all make your shakes? I've got plenty of flavors to play with, sugar free Torani, truvia...what really gets me is the foam. So far I've just been blending them. I thought the nectar might be better than the creamy kind because it goes in Water and is fruity instead...so any ideas? How do you stop the foam? If I just throw the foam away am I throwing away plus of the Protein too, or is the foam just air and not much protein? Help!

  8. It is not surprising that a surgeon who does bariatrics would not want to repair an abdominal hernia or an inguinal hernia, that takes a different kind of surgeon and specialty. A hiatal hernia is in your diaphragm where your esophagus passes through and that is what we are all talking about when we say our surgeon fixed a hernia for us. That's inside and you would not be able to see through clothes or skin, so I am guessing you are referring to an abdominal hernia. This type of hernia can require mesh and all kinds of things to fix, and is usually repaired by a general surgeon, not a bariatric surgeon.

  9. I'm right within the allotted calories' date=' carb, and Protein intake. And I drink my Water. A typical day for me is 1 hard boiled egg (I'm lucky if I can finish it), tuna for lunch (I'm lucky if I can eat half a cup), and for dinner Greek yogurt. You would think I would loose but it just isn't happening. The one time I did loose I gave in and had a cupcake. I just wonder if anyone has had this problem. It seems like everyone else is dropping weight like crazy.[/quote']

Sounds to me like you need to step up Protein and just remember you can never have too much Water.< /p>

  10. You may feel great' date=' you may feel like crap. I wouldn't make any plans you can't get out of. Just plan on going wi the flow. I started to feel decent by day 3. By week 3 I was chainsawing wood in the back yard.

Good luck with the upcoming surgery.[/quote']

Butter the bean thanks so much for replying, you are always super helpful and have great advice. I know sometimes people who have been on a while get sick of answering questions but I really appreciate it..

Kinda doubt ill be sawing wood at three weeks out, though.

  11. So I have a question for all of you who have been sleeved. I am being sleeved Dec 20. Being the holidays, lots of family is in town and I am nervous as to how it will go. Obviously we all need a couple weeks to feel like we can go back to work, but how many days before you felt like doing anything before laying in bed? When could you shop? Visit family or friends? 3 days? 7? 10? I have heard some people who go to Mexico actually do tourist stuff while they are there. Do I need to tell my family to not plan on me at all during Christmas?
