Day 7 of Pre Op and White Knuckling It~
On Day 7 of pre-op shakes and today I really feel like I'm white knuckling it. I have been trying to distract myself and drink lots of fluids but I feel my "resolve" thinnning a bit. Thursday I go for pre-op and weigh in (doc wants me to lose 10 pounds). I am already 9 lbs down and will make the goal however I am pretty sure he will make me stay on the shakes until the surgery date which is the 7th (the following Thursday). I am hoping to dig deep and find the energy to get through it. I know this is part of my mind "letting go" of food....but wow....it certainly challenges every part of you! Good luck my pre-opers........we can and will get through this!

after a week I fell off the wagon of the pre-op diet
Day 7 on pre-op for me!! Yes..it is soooo hard but I have not "caved". I'm not saying this to upset you....I just don't want the guilt of a slip to jeapoardize the whole process for me (or else I woud have done more damage than a few chips). Get back on the pre-op and you will be fine. Put it behind you! Good luck!

Oh anxiety...
I have similiar anxiety...and I haven't even been banded yet. Yesterday I wondered the same thing...will I ever see myself without fat colored glasses on? I am not sure..... Good luck on your journey! You look amazing!

Energy on Pre op Diet~

Day three preop really hard
Yes...the first 3 days were pretty brutal for me too. It is getting easier. With each passing day on liquid..it gives me more confidence and resolve that I CAN do it. I just keep telling myself this is a small step in the process....it's not forever. One more day....one more day. Let's not think too far ahead.

Energy on Pre op Diet~
So I am on Day 5 of the pre op shake diet and have really good energy. My headache has subsided and I don't feel like running people over with my car due to hunger. So this morning, I thought I would take my mind off this whole process for awhile (as this is pretty much all I can think about) and do some gardening and yardwork (I live in Florida). It was a beautiful morning and I am feeling really good! After planting some shrubs, weeding, and placing some landscape rock......I felt like I was hit with a truck! I assume the energy isn't long sustaining energy? I showered and was pretty much DONE for the rest of the day. Such a learning process for me. Learning how my body really feels and what it needs. Learning my limitations...and learning to relax when my mind and body want to run, run, run but can't. Hope everyone had a good weekend?

Unofficial Pre-Op Dieting Struggles
Jennifer...I think we have the same surgery date. Wanna be band friends (wink)? I love your blog and how honest you are. Keep up the great work. I'm rooting for you.

Emotional eating
I have said this too. If I never ate when I wasn't hungry...I wouldn't be fat. I suspect this will be a constant conscious act from here on out. Thank you for sharing your glitch. I'm sorry you got upsetting news today.

Post Opt
Glad to hear your feeling good today! It's very encouraging. I have a little anxiety about the down time after surgery.

Negative Talk from family and friends
It took awhile for my family to understand the decision and how the band works. They were mostly nervous about the surgery but I have educated them in all aspects and they are now very supportive. The line I use the most is when someone says, "surgery is dangerous", I say "so is being obese-I have a chance at a tool that can change my health and I intend to use it." Good luck....they will start coming around.

End of Day 3 of Pre-op diet~
Ok good......I have been constantly drinking something. Water, tea, the shakes (when time). It's the only way I can power through. Have you had headache and fatigue today? I felt alot better today......your resolve kicks in after a few days. Lots of good energy your way....

End of Day 3 of Pre-op diet~
Did you mention this to your Dr? About the intolerance? Perhaps they can suggest something else?

Unofficial Pre-Op Dieting Struggles
Take some deep breaths....it's a marathon not a sprint. This time before the band will help ease the road. Don't panic.

End of Day 3 of Pre-op diet~
Hang in there...it will get better. I promise.

End of Day 3 of Pre-op diet~
This is a wild ride isn't it? I actually made it through the day without a dull, annoying headache and major fatigue. The first 2 days were brutal but I did understand that my body was detoxing...releasing the toxins....responding to the change. Feeling much better today and can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have learned alot about myself these past 3 days.

Started Pre-Op Diet Today!
Dwayne!! I wayched your video blogs this morning and you have certainly put my mind at ease. They were so helpful. I love, love, love the little trick about straining the Progesso Light Soup for the broth and freezing the solids for your "mushies" later. Brilliant!! Thanks for the idea. Hope you are feeling well today?

I'm banded!!!!
Congrats!!! Glad your feeling ok.

Started Pre-Op Diet Today!
The shakes I am using are purchased from the doctors office. OPtiFast 800 calories a day. Lots of protein, low in carbs, sodium, etc. 800 calories seems like "nothing" to a girl who could consume way more than I ever needed to...but one day at a time....I am certain I will get through it.

Started Pre-Op Diet Today!
Thanks for all the links! I can't wait to dive in! I too have small children and they have to eat. This is definitley the hardest part. But once again...no matter how cranky and boo hooey I get.....I just remind myself that it's just a small part of the journey! I just keep my eye on the prize...and this is always worth it to me. Good luck everyone.

Surgery Dates!
Yes. I started my Protein Shakes (pre op diet-2 weeks) today! The first few days are the hardest (I did this last September when I had my original surgery date but found out that insurance only paid half at the last minute and couldn't afford it.) I survived it the first time.....I will survive it this time. By no means is it a walk in the park...but each day does seem to get easier.

Started Pre-Op Diet Today!
Ok folks! Today is the first day of my 2 week pre-op diet. I am on 5 protein shakes a day. I have already done this back in September (before I found out that my insurance company would only cover half of the surgery and didn't have the money to cover the other half). I learned alot about myself the last time I did this. First I learned...I can do it! Secondly I learned that I could survive without physical food. During the pre-op phase, my heartburn disappeared and after about 3 days...I had tons of energy! Starting on liquids (again) today, I had no trepidation. I have done this and completed this before. I know it was hard...but the good news is that I know and I still survived. Knowledge is power! I look forward to the weight loss I can achieve even before getting the surgery! Wish me luck!
