  1. but what am I going to do for 3-4 hours? I can't go lay down somewhere...
  2. I'm planning on doing sea world the day after surgery, not the day of surgery... I will be taking it very easy. But I have 4 hours after I leave the hosp.(the day after surgery) before I can get into my room. So I have to be somewhere for that four hours, why not seaworld?
  3. I have surgery august 28th and have 4 hours from the time i'm leaving hospital until I can get in my room in San Diego I plan to go to SeaWorld, to try to keep active. I hope I feel up to it.

  4. that's great, seems like you're doing very well...
  5. I don't have any info on fill/follow up dr.'s in canada area, but I am going to the most reasonable surgeon in Mexico if interested google Weightlossagents.com Dr. Mario Almanza, the Director of Nursing where I work just got back from there as well, and said she was very pleased (and she's a tough cookie) with her gastric sleeve surgery. I'm being banded by this dr. August 28th as well. Lap band is 3500, gastric sleeve is 4500. Hope this is helpful...
  6. I also had to give 30 days notice, i'm only taking 8 days off after the surgery, I can delegate lifting jobs to nursing assistants at work for sometime.( I'm a nurse). I plan to just get back into the swing of things. Hope I can, I usually bounce right back from things... I've never had a choice not to though...We have a group for August Bandsters if you're interested.. Please join..Good luck to you...
  7. OMG! That's funny, it's a good thing you have a sense of humor. I would've been pissed...You're funny...
  8. I've been doing the very same thing, but my decision was fueled by the fact that with the band you have control of the restriction you have, I just didn't like the idea of 80percent of my stomache being gone forever. While the band has a lot of after care involved, I just had a gut feeling that it was the best choice...It's not because it costs less either because in the long run it ends up costing more...If you picked the band, it might mean that this is what your gut feeling choice is. But, it's up to you totally. Whatever you think will be the best for YOU is what's important...Good luck either way.. Did you join the August Bandsters group? Please do if you like...

  11. I have the choice to schedule my first fill at either 6 or 8 wks. I have to schedule a few months ahead in order to get the nutritional assessment, metabolic assessment, fluoscopic fill, and follow up surgery aptmnts all in one day as I'll be driving 41/2 hours to my fill Dr. I'm having surgery in mexico so I had to find a Dr. near here for follow up care. I was going to have to verticle sleeve done until I found this dr. His name is Dr. Trace Curry near Cincinatti Oh. He takes any patients for any WLS even those who have foreign surgery and even if they have complications. He is known as the band dr. as well. He charges 500.oo for the first fill along with the assessments, x-rays etc following surgery. I felt this was a great dr. to go with because he is very well known esp. in lapband area. I plan to make each fill apptmnt as a little trip to enjoy getting away from home, will probably get a room and stay in cincinatti and maybe go to some of the sights the zoo, etc. on my trips there. I love to go stay at a motel, I LOVE IT, I don't know why but I just find it so relaxing, you don't have to clean, cook, nothin"! Anyways, I think I'll schedule my first apptmnt at 6 wks, so that I can get started on this. Hopefully I'll have some restriction even before the 1st fill. The doc in mexico does not insert any saline into the band before you leave, have to wait for swelling to go down he says... Whatever is the best thing to do is okay with me...I just can't wait to get this done... I have 53 days left, seems like an eternity. I plan to work alot and try to pass the time as quickly as possible...
  12. How are you feeling this morning? Hope you're doing well, and everything went okay for you and your procedure.. slojo67

    Surgery Scheduled!

I know it, I just can hardly stand it I want to to do this so badly... My friends and family think I'm crazy but I don't care... I'm so glad to share with you on here because you know how I feel, and how exciting it is to know that we'll have a tool to help us look good and be healthy and that our success totally depends on us, but we still have our little lap- bands, (mine is going to be named Gertrude), to help curve our food intake so that we can acheive our goals. It's so exciting...

    Naming Your Lapband?

It just sounded funny, I don't know, my son said it and it just stuck. Kinda whimsical...
  15. Dr. Trace Curry also known as thebanddr. takes patients who have had bariatric surgeries by other surgeons. Even if you have complications he will see you. The fills are 500.00 for 1st fluoroscopy fill, the 100.00 for subsequent fills (reasonable). This is who i'll be seeing after lapband surgery for my followup care and fills.
  16. I've been on here all night have done a wt. ticker, and a surgery date countdown ticker woo hoo!!!
