I get the hiccups when i eat too fast and don't chew small enough pieces....it is the warning light to tell me to slow down!!

I was banded July 10th and i am averaging about 8lbs lost a month since surgery....(I also was a low BMIer of 35 to start with high blood pressure and high cholesterol)...my PCP said 10 more lbs and I can come off of both meds!

I too was 35.4 with HBP and High cholestol...and BCBS of MN approved me! During the 6 month PCP and nutritionist visits i managed to lose 6 lbs in the 1st 3 months and then the next 3 months let the 6 lbs creep back on. I too was afraid if i feel under the 35 BMI i wouldn't get approved! I hate to say it but it was teh worst 6 months of my life (and my husband would agree)! I have been banded since the begining of July and it has sense been great! I am down about 30lbs including the 2 weeks of pre-op liquids!! Hang in there!!! it will happen!!

Looking at Insurance they billed my insurance co 26k for outpatient surgery for the Lapband!

It will work out.....good luck

I went for my 1st fill today....he put 3.4ccs in....I drank the Water tried to be cool yeah...this can work.....not...went back had 0.8 removed...thank God....I never would have survived that...

I think the statistics are 35% of your excess weight they tell you is what they project you will loose....could he have said 30to 40 % of excess lbs and not 30-40 lbs? I was only a BMI of 35and i have already lost 27 lbs since pre-op and i was banded 7/10/2012.
The carbonation is a definite no no! Steak - granted i only have 1.5ccs in my band and have had steak without problems...if you a good quality steak and chew chew chew with small bites...
heck i have gotten stuck,pb and vomitted on mashed sweet potatoes...

I was banded on July 10th....recovery has been easier than i thought. Although I am starving around dinner time only....and I don't get a fill until August 18th! I had 1.5cc when the surgeon put the band in! And I am having a heck of a time remembering to eat slow and chew and chew and chew....i have had a few stuck eposiodes lately with chicken and sweet potatoes....I ate to fast and didn't concentrate on slowing down and chewing - I think i was too hungry...my weight loss has slowed down - they would like me to eat 1000 calories and i am finding it difficult to get the 1000 calories in...but I am loving the weight loss that i have so far!!! Good luck Julys'!!!

I have BCBS of MN...I was a 35 BMI with High Blood pressure and High Cholesterol...i also needed 2 years of BMI higher than 35....I had about 1.5 years of 35..and was nervous....they approved me within 7 days of the doctors office faxing all the info over....i was a nervous wreck....crazed!!! But the approval process went smoothly!!!! Good Luck!!

Go to the doctor immediately before they get any worse!!! Are they warm to the touch??

The EGD my surgeon is doing i think it takes under an hour! He was pretty booked for those appointments I went in on May 30th for the consult and the 28th of June was the 1st available for the EGD! I could have scheduled my surgery for as early as July3rd but i have some work commitments and put it off to the 10th! I had to do 6 months of nutritionist appointments and was very careful not to lose too much or any because i was right at 35.7 and didn't want to get below 35 so they could deny me! It all worked out! I think the ticker is broken right now i tried to fix mine and i am getting errors - if you go under your profile you can select ticker and follow the screens!
-
Congrats ...I know very stressful waiting! My BMI is just barely over the 35 too similar to yours so i was really concerned that they might deny it! But it all worked out EGD is scheduled for June 28th and surgery on July 10th! Good Luck getting all your dates lined up! Enjoy your cruise!

I have BCBS of MN -> I kept calling my doctors office it took forever for them to submit the paperwork! The insurance company received the info on June 5th and sent the approval letter out on June 13th!

I don't know - it seems like every surgeon is a little different...The endoscopy is they go down your throat with a scope and check it all out - they can see if you have Hiatal Hernia this way and he will know if he needs to repair it when he goes in to band me! It is probably just another great way for them to make money?!?!
Fyi.. Unjury protein

Try the Unjury unflavored in orange juice...can't taste it or even detect it...that's the only way I get all my Protein in....I agree it's nasty in yogurt, milk and flavored waters....
