I feel no restriction in my band

Be patient it takes a little while before you feel any restriction. Focus on making good food choices right now it will help you in the long run.
  4. I am 8 months post op and there were weeks when I stalled. When that happened I would make and effort to get more protien in and excersise and that usually got me back on track. Good luck.

    Frustrated!

Suzannetex, If you can't eat then you are not going to be able to take in the proper nutrients for your body to loose weight. I have been where you are and trust me the best thing to do is get a slight unfill. You can always work your way back up. It's not how much you can't it, its about being able to eat and make better choices for your body. I have had 3 fills and 3 adjustments a day or so later. My doctor gradually brought me up to where I was intially too tight. Everybody is different. Listen to your body, the band is a tool and you should not be miserable going through this process. Take it from me, been there, done that. Slow and steady is the better way to go. Good Luck. Let me know if you have any questions.
  7. After I was banded, I did alot of protein shakes and seafood. I found that for me seafood is much easier to go down and the shakes are easy on the go. I have a blender bottle and I am using 1 scoop of Unjury no flavor powder and Pure Protien van shake. Together it's about 52g of protien. I have that first thing in the morning or I sip it throught the day. In any event, I get the protein in and I found that it has helped my weight loss and controls my hunger. Good Luck girlie and welcome to the banded community.
  8. I am 1/2 way through my weight loss. I have dropped 3 pant sizes and I am loving my self and body more and more everyday.

    Frustrated!

Juji, I too have been through the same thing with my last 3 fills and unfills. My doctor says my band and stomach are sensative. We have reverted to getting smaller fills. Stay positive. The band does work you have to work with it. I have been doing at least 1 protein shake a day and I am steadly loosing weight.

    Pb???

Great question. It is basically like SandyC2 said regurgitating. Please pardon me for being so graphic but for your question, I will answer. I have only experienced this once and let me tell you it was not pretty. I was trying to eat a biscuit too fast and here it comes back where it came; my mouth. All of a sudden my mouth starts to Water and then I had the urge to spit up. Not just any spit up, it is bubbly spit. By this time my chest is burning and I can feel the food I just consumed in my esophagus. Then I felt the need to vomit. For me this experience lasted all of 5-7 mins. I was over when I walked outside and bent over and I was able to spit/vomit up the biscuit. Please know that this could have been prevented if I had followed my doctors rules and chew.. chew... chew.

    What Are Your Cant Haves

The one food that has proved to give me problems has been biscuits and dry white meat chicken breast.I had my first stuck eposide with a bisuit, Never again I tell you. I am hopefull my list doesn't grow to large. I really don't like bread, I pretty much gave up rice a long time ago and pasta is a maybe for me. I don't really care of it anyways. These things seem to give the most problems. If I have to give up baked potatoes I may die. lol. I love them.

    Band Not Working.

Sounds like you need a fill. Please don't get discouraged. We all have come too far to turn back now. Make good food choices early in the day and that will help set the tone for your day.

    Is This Normal

I would speak to my doctor about what is going on. It sounds like you may be a little tight. You may need a slight unfill to make things comfortable for you.

    2Nd Fill - 1St Unfill

Today was my 2nd fill since being banded on Aug 15, 2012. At surgery my doc put .5cc in my band and my first fill Sept 14th was 2.5 cc. for a total of 3cc's in a 10cc band. After the 1st fill I felt little to no restriction. I did however manage to lose 5 lbs in the 4 weeks. My NP told me that was good considering most patients do not lose anything until their 3 or 4th fill. She asked the usual questions regarding my portion sizes and hunger in between meals. She then told me she was going to put in 2 cc's and have me at 5cc's. When she accessed my port and injected the Fluid I could feel my stomach tighten. (It was pretty kewl) considering the fill is immediate. I then sat up and it was time for the Water test. The first sip goes now without a problem. Then I (unintentionally) gulped down the next sip and boy did I feel it. I felt like I needed to burp and couldn't, I also felt the water gurgling back up my throat. I couldn't help but think, "This is what being too tight feels like." Trust me, It is not a good feeling. I thought, "If I can't get water down, there is no way I can do food!". The last thing I want is to sit down for dinner and worry about getting stuck or worse not be able to eat. I told the NP I felt a little tight and she said, "Sit here for a bit and see if you feel any better.". I started on a 2nd cup of water, same thing. The best way to describe the feeling is, It felt like I had swallowed something thick in consistency and I could feel it traveling down my throat through my chest and then it bubbled up at my band. To think, this is just WATER. After all of that, I felt a slight burning sensation in my esophagus. It was weird. So of course, I have been reading the forums and everybody says, "Do not leave your doctor’s office if you are too tight". I laid back down on the table and had .5cc's removed or there about. I really didn't ask how much she took out. I was just glad I could sit up and get the 2nd glass of water down. I am sharing this experience with everyone so you will know what I experienced and if it happens to you. Please do not leave the doctor’s office. Wish me luck, My next appointment isn't for 4 weeks. Please share your experience if you have any.
