Perhaps those are people who aren't getting in their Vitamins? A good friend lost 120 pounds with RNY' date=' looks great and is very happy. He has maintained his weight for a few years now. In fact, his doctor would like for him to gain a few pounds. Still, it isn't a procedure I would consider for myself. I definitely agree that it depends on the person's situation and goals.[/quote']I totally agree I have several friends and family who are many years out one is 20+ years out and has just as good of looks as anyone else and no problems related to the RNY. But again it's really made me look at my thoughts about all surgeries and my ideas and what really matters to me. I think I have made a decision I will continue to investigate and question until I am 100% sure but thanks to all the wonderful comments and knowledge I have been feeling much more informed.
So thanks gang

The most important thing is documentation when it comes to having insurance pay for things and it depends on your insurance.
Mine will pay for TT and full body lifts including breast lifts.
I can tell you that as far as the TT is either has to be significantly loose or cause you some discomfort or rash.

Hi Got2BThin' date='
Thank you for your response!
Do you have to jump hoops to have insurance pay?
My insurance company told me I would have to prove
that it is considered "medically necessary."[/quote']
My Dr. Said that it's not too uncommon to have approved.

I was sleeved on 4/10/2012 at Methodist hospital. Dr Svendson was my surgeon. The surgery went great. I'm down 50 pounds and loving it.Amazing

He said in his seminars that he can get ins to pay for the Tummy Tuck.
Wow great success!!! That's amazing I know you feel soooooo much better.
Do you still feel hungry? And lastly did you have any complications? Ok one last lastly how was Kelly's bedside manner and how fast did Nikki get you approved?

Hi everyone. I have bcbs and was approved within a week. I had my surgery done over at the u of m fairview and it was great! My surgeon dr. Buchwald is awesome and is literally world renowned for his work with bariatric surgeries. He has done many sleeves and has a good success rate.Nice how long did it take u to lose the weight? What has ur experience been?

I had the Vertical Sleeve 4/2011 by the St Paul Surgeon's group. Dr. Kelly did it and everything has gone well. They don't perform them frequently but somewhere in my research they have done quite a few. This specific option hasn't been that much in vogue until recently again. I was originally approved for a RNY but with my work up for past esophageal strictures they found stomach polyps and felt that wouldn't be wise. They need resubmitted everything and I was approved. I have BCBS.Nice that's who I am thinking about. I wanted dr Rupp but was told that dr Kelly is better for sleeves. I am glad to hear that someone actually did go through it with him. How long did it take u to lose ur weight?
Did u get approved for the Tummy Tuck by him?
I am 5,4 and 260 pounds 28yrs old.

I am from WBL and I am thinking about st paul surgeons I have been told they don't do many sleeves but they will do it. I have Ucare and all is going well I hope to be approved soon

And how much are they??

Hey guys' date=' Lately I have been waking up with HUGE morning boner. Maybe TMI but its like a third bigger and thicker than my usual erections. I wish I could harness it and have it all the time, not that im lacking im a human tripod ya know but this is some serious lumber. I was wondering if any of you guys have had the same issue, is it the weight loss or something else? Maybe my nightly Vitamins or Protein shake? Gotta remember to be careful, almost took out the bedside lamp getting outta bed this morning [/quote']Feel free to contact all the ladies in the am

I hope my sex drive doesn't increase or I will be like that show 20 kids and counting lol. Not quite that extream but u get the idea. I think I have a very good sexual drive I do hope however that after surgery I will feel sexier and bolder about sex and that in it self will make it so much better

Thnks Patrick
I am in the same boat. I got approved for WLS in 2006 and decided to wait (what was I thinking) I guess u get so much pressure from family and friends to try harder so that's why I waited. And I did try very hard, I still am I do p90x and work out but the pesky pounds don't budge too much. Then if I stop working out they come right back.
I have known people who have done the band and RNY but no sleevers except my you tube and here.
I guess one thing I am still a little confused about is the difference in amount of weight u can lose with the sleeve. Does it just take a little longer? Again I am willing to do my part and if the hunger hormone is gone then I think I would do great.
Oh one last thing I've seen people say I don't stretch out ur sleeve as much as some stretch their pouch and this doesnt make any sense to me. Any ideas as to why that would happen like that?

Mamaof8 let me applaud u because Atkins isn't easy. I was on it before, well I guess most of us have been on every diet imaginable. But my point is I think that's great that u are being proactive
Can't believe u have 8 kids wow I just have 4 I need to get working to catch up w u:)

I find it very informative too. And I am thankful to learn from people who are going through this as well

As many people have already said that was awesome to see you look like a totally different person just amazing.
I am the same way about being totally comfortable in my own skin, maybe I'll be this bold when I lose my weight too.... Maybe.

Hi icandothis I am in the same boat thinking about doing the shakes now till surgery, with that being said I don't have a date yet, however all my pre reqs are done. I have decided that I will do all liquid and if I slip then I won't beat myself up about it, I'll just keep trying to make liquid my focus.
I also am with you about having it hard to believe that this time next year we will not be the same. I look at my journals for almost 10+ years now and they all say "I will be skinny by such date" and I exercise and diet to no avail, now with WLS it will truly change. Can't wait!!! In someways I guess I accepted my life to always be overweight, now I see that I too am worth every dream and passion I have.
Way to go on your journey!!! Can't wait to see all your success!!!!
Ready Set Approved!
