  1. Thanks for your response. I am not peeing more, but you are right I should drink more. I will work on it because I have always had a problem getting enough Water down every day. My blood pressure is still a bit high around 150/90 I take it 3 times a day. Thank you so much for the good advice! I I am getting some water right now.

  2. Hi

I was started on blood pressure meds 10 days ago. I go back to my MD on 8/22, but I have a question and can not wait. I also talked

to my MD's nurse but have not heard back so was hoping someone here had some info.

The new medicine for my high blood pressure is making me dizzy and very tired. At times I am just out of it, I feel weak and light headed.

I have never had high blood pressure before, even at my heaviest. I am following a low carb, and now low sodium diet. My sodium is under 1200

mg every day,I am keeping a food diet. I walk 3 miles every day and am down 55 pounds with my lap band. I am 51 years old. The meds

are lisinopril 10 mg and hydrochldroy 12.5 mg. I have been taking my blood pressure and it is around the 140/85 range. My MD told me I was

starting on a low dose and would up the dose on the 22nd. The side effects I am feeling just do not seem right and I was wondering if it

takes awhile to get used to the medicine? Has anyone else felt strong side effects from their BP medicine?

Thanks all for taking the time to read my long post. Have a blessed day!

  3. Sorry your having so much post-op trouble. Sounds like you need some pain medicine, being in pain is very depressing. Call your MD and let him/her know the pain your feeling. I was in a lot of pain 4 days post-op but now I am feeling better than I have in years. My hunger is in control 99% of the time and I am walking 3 miles a day. My weight loss has been worth every struggle and yours will too. Things will get better, and your worth all the pain and trouble! Feeel better soon!

  4. Everyone is different but I am drinking half Decaf and half reg because my MD is opposed to drinking caffienated coffee. I also switched to Almond milk instead of skim milk because the almond milk has less carbs. I have found a low carb diet works best for me. Coffee and almond milk took a few days to get used to but I feel it is part of my weight loss journey. Even without my skim milk I look forward to my morning coffee and without the carbs that slow down my weight loss.

  5. Hi

I was banded in April, 2012. I am on my 3rd fill and my "hunger" ended with this 3rd fill. Are you on medication for your anxiety? I am on amatriptoline and citralopram for depression and anxiety. I am feeling better with each pound lost. I really had to force myself to get out and walk. At first just around my yard and now I am up to 3 miles everyday. I know you are working long hours but can you get some exercise in at work? Maybe stairs instead of elevator or park in the farthest space? I know for certain the exercise has been key to my weight loss. If I don't exercise I don't lose! I will repeat that no exercise no weight loss.(for myself) I am also on a low low carb diet. No more than 30 mg of carbs a day. This is really working for me. I have dieted before and ate few calories and never lost like I have on this low carb diet. My surgeon and his team put me on this low carb diet. I am 51 and started at 288, today I was at 234. It is the best success I have had for years. I am working very hard, I won't tell you it has been easy. The band does make it easier though.I am not suffering with diet starvation. The key for me is exercise and low carb diet. I have made poor food choices too. Now I do not buy or have food I should not eat. I switched to almond milk I make the best Protein shakes! honest! I eat chicken chicken more chicken and greek yogurt! I hope this gives you some ideas, and keep working, you CAN do it.

    Theresa

    Protein shake

    2 cups ice

1 cup almond milk or skim milk

1 scoop Protein powder zero carb

    2 tblsp PB2 ( Powered peanut butter)

1 tblsp Walden Farms no calorie chocolate sauce

    dash of hazelnut extract

add all in blender and blend until mix is a milkshake

You can find the PB2 and Walden Farm products at The Skinny Pantry Fort Myers, Florida They have a website with

    nutritional info.

  6. Everyone is different but I smoked up to the day of surgery and smoked on the car ride home after surgery. I am not saying it is the right thing to do

just being honest. I just made sure I did not smell like smoke going to the surgery center. I do not smoke on my way to any MD appointment.

  7. Try a low carb diet. It has worked for me. It might jump start your losing. The Protein fills me up

and keeps me full longer. I also eat smaller meals more often. My lap band doctor has me on

low low carbs, I eat lots of chicken, greek yogurt. and Protein shakes

    . I add 2 tble PB2 and 2 tble no carb

chocolate sauce with 1 cup ice,1 cup almond milk and 1 scoop zero carb Protein powder and it is as good as any

milkshake I have ever made. It is thick and creamy and about 10 carbs.

PB2 is the powered Peanut Butter. low in fat calories and carbs

WaldenFarms makes the zero calorie, zero carb chocolate sauce

  8. I had my thyroid irradiated many many years ago. I am on levothyroxine. I had my surgery April 6, 2012 and have lost 48 pounds. I have about 100

more to lose. I am 51 years old. I am following a very strict low carb diet and exercising. The diet was suggested by my surgeon, and his team. I

feel great! The weight loss has really improved my mood which I think is affected by my hypothyroidism. The lapband has been a wonderful tool in

my weight loss journey to a heathier and happier me.

  9. I have no guilt because the lap band is not a magical cure for being over weight. It is just another tool I use to lose weight and eat healthier.

My weight loss has not been easy, I have to make good choices every meal and I am exercising every day. I have to choose a cup

of chicken over a cup of ice cream, and I have to get up, out and moving everyday! Some weeks I have not lost weight even after

doing every thing right. I thought before my surgery well, this will be easy my band will make all these pounds disappear. That is

far from the truth, what the band has done for me i take away the hunger that caused me to cheat or quit dieting in the past. The more

weight I lose the stronger my will power has become, and I worked hard for everything positive in my life since being banded.
