  1. How would I make either of these and thin them out? I don't want to use a ton of mayo. Any suggestions? I will put it in the vitamix to blend it to make it smooth I just don't really know if there is anything to help make it fit into the puréed stage. Thanks in advance for your help.

Tuna fish or chicken salad during pureed stage...

You guys are great! I thought maybe the Greek yogurt. However, I didn't think about the other ideas. I'm off to the grocery store to pick up some of these suggestions.

    What is Polenta?

Ok, not a problem to stay away from polenta. Thanks for the info. I've seen it in different recipes, but had no clue.

    What is Polenta?

How does it compare to tofu? Can I eat either of these during the purée stage? Thanks.
  5. You have great recipes. I'm following you on Pinterest to see all your recipes. Thanks for posting them.

    Any regrets?

I wish I was in your shoes. I am almost 3 weeks into a 4 week all liquid diet post op. Combine that with an all liquid 2 week pre op diet makes for 6 weeks of all liquid. Once that is finished I have a month of puréed food. I can only dream of actually chewing something. Just be happy you are not me.

Any success stories for the 50's group?

I just turned 50 just before my surgery. Since my 7/31 surgery I'm down 9 pounds. I thought it would be more by now. I guess I am destined to be a slow loser. I did have a minor set back with the onset of shingles post surgery. Hopefully it was caught early. However, I am taking prednisone and an anti-viral liquid medication for another week. I know at least the prednisone makes you retain water so my weight loss might not start again until the medicines is finished. Other than the shingles I have felt really good. I return to work on Monday so we will see how that goes.

    Full liquids

Hi, I'm 2 1/2 weeks into my all liquid phase. Only another 1 1/2 weeks before I get to the puréed stage. I found organic creamy soups that are very good, no chunks. They are just creamy. The fat, sugar, and protein are acceptable to my NUT. I have had creamy sweet potato, creamy sweet corn, and creamy portabello mushroom. No straining the soup since there is nothing to strain. I have also made a version of gazpacho soup. It is a little thinner than normal, but I could drink it through a straw if I had to. Hope these suggestions help.

    Eating Out Puree Stage

I need some help. I will start the puréed stage in about a week. At about the same time college football season starts. My dilemma is the group of friends I watch games with have always gone to BW3 (they are superstitious so no changing the gathering place). Any suggestions for eating something while I'm there? It's going to be a huge challenge. I really want to go. I know my friends will be very supportive. I'm just trying to figure out a way to "fit in" and be part of the group. I thought about not eating, but usually when you sit for 3-4 hours in a restaurant you need to buy something. Any thoughts? Thanks.

    Eating Out Puree Stage

I figure I will simply grab a glass of water and just enjoy the game and friends. My motto is "if you don't ask, you don't know", so I will tell them I had stomach surgery ad see if there is anything they can do for me. Worst case, they say "no" and I just have my water and leave a tip. Thanks for everyone's thoughts and suggestions.

    Shingles

Anyone develop shingles post op? I was having what I thought was the start of an ear infection. Went to the local clinic. Just my luck...no ear infection. Diagnosed with the start of shingles on my head. The pain in my ear is just a by product of the shingle pain. Surgery and stress can bring it on. Started taking the anti-viral medicine and some prednisone today. Hopefully since I only started with this terrible pain in my head within the last 1 1/2 days the medicine will help to lessen the severity. I can already tell the medicine is working. The stabbing pain has subsided and my eye is not tearing up from the pain. I'm posting this because I haven't seen any other posts on this topic. I had chicken pox as a kid. Not what I expected post op. Didn't expect slow weight loss and certainly didn't expect shingles. Double whammy. Darn!

    Shingles

Thanks to all who replied. Never gave it a thought that the pain I had was shingles. I do feel better today versus yesterday. I'm certain that the surgery and the stress (although I don't feel stressed) brought on the shingles. Everyone that has had chicken pox has the virus. It just lays dormant until there is a trigger. My surgery was about 2 1/2 weeks ago. According to the doctor, the surgery was the trigger.

    Fresh fruits and veggies post-op

I am only 2 weeks into my 4 weeks of a liquid diet post op. I have use my vitamix to purée my veggies so I can drink it through a straw. Actually, it became a gazpacho for me. What a great taste. I also took a banana and puréed it into a vanilla protein shake. I addd some pb2 and skim milk. Again, what a great taste. As long I as I can drink it through a straw, I'm good to go.

    Vitamins

I just started taking Centrum chewable multi vitamin. Not bad. Need to take 4 a day. I'm using Caltrate vanilla cream chewables for calcium. I also found gummy fish oil bites. Those have a little bit of an after taste. No problem, I just eat one of my calcium chews and the taste goes away.

    Looking for vitamins

I found at Wal Mart gummy bite fish oil by Natures Made. Just tried 2. Not bad. A little after taste. I saved my calcium chews to take after the fish oil. Covered up the little bit of fishy taste. Happy I have found fish oil to take.
  18. I bought the children's chewable a from Costco. No sugar, no iron.

    Looking for vitamins

I tried the Coromega from gnc. Not bad going down. However, to me it had the worst fish after taste. I couldn't get rid of the taste for hours. I had high hopes for Coromega. No way I can get past that after taste.

    Complex carb ideas

Not to get between you two, but you both have some awesome ideas. I can't wait to actually get to eat. I think the oatmeal in a jar will be the first thing I try.

    My Protein Bomb Breakfast

    Thanks Bluto.

    My Protein Bomb Breakfast

Hey Bluto, did the pb2 get "grainy" in the drink? Other than the taste, could you tell the pb2 was in the drink? I'm still on all liquids, don't want to mess up. I still have 3 weeks left of my all liquid post surgery diet.
  24. buckeyefan1985

    PB2

At this stage dr said minimum of 50 grams of protein a day and 64 ounces of liquid. Other than the first couple days, I have had no problems getting it all in.
