  1. Did y'all see the spot on Dr Oz today talking about how fasting is so great for weight loss & general health? I only caught the last 30 seconds or so. He wanted everyone to fast every day from 8 pm until 8 am.

    What should i pack?

    Those little Colgate wisp toothbrushes, and the one item I had to have, my cell phone charger & extension cord so I could reach it while on the charger. I have kids, so it was important to be able to get to my phone when it chirped or rang. My flip flop style house shoes I used when I walked (a LOT!). I took my laptop & did not use it, when I felt the urge to play on the Internet, I used my smartphone.

    I haven't had that problem. My incision is really low so the hair does come up to the incision line. But I don't think that my mons area looks stretched. Of course I had not seen it in so long, I am just assuming that this is what it is supposed to look like. Lmao

  5. Thanks Laura, Monday /Wednesday girl over here. Fast days are easy until I run out of calories, lol. It's that after 7 time when I get the munchies that is always the toughest part for me.

    I need help, feeling unsuccessful!

    I want to thank you all for your input! It feels so great to have such a strong support system. I thought I was in great shape. Then I hit the free weights really hard Friday & by the end of the day Saturday, I could barely walk. (Yeah for leg day!!) Now I know that I can hit it MUCH harder! I will try your suggestions Fiddle. I am going to stick to the 5:2 plan & see how this works for me. I know that I should not let a scale number get me down, so I am going to focus on toning & feeling healthier. Compared to where I started (358 pounds, bad back, high blood pressure), well, there is NO comparison.
  7. Here is some screen shots of my MFP to show what I eat on fast days & feast days. I am not an expert on the 5:2 plan but I am pretty good at eating within my calorie plan. I also eat low carb because my body is very sensitive to them. There are 2 feast days shown, one is on 2 screens as I had lots of Snacks that day.   8. Not all GNC's carry the coffee flavor, so I would call first.
  9. Lisa, have you tried making your own Frappe? I make my own, either with vanilla protein powder & iced coffee (or instant coffee) or GNC coffee flavored Optimum Nutrition (I like it cause it mixes super easy & is low carb, some of the coffee flavored proteins have a lot of carbs.) protein powder. Either way, I add ice, water (whatever the protein shake calls for), a little Splenda & SF creamer. Nom nom nom. And WAY cheaper than daily frappe's.
  10. I can say that this way of eating has dramatically helped my hunger. That alone makes it something I would stick with. I just hope my body stops fighting me on these last 20 + pounds. It is beyond OLD! Lisa, I have found that I completely agree on food intake. I can eat much more than I used to. 4 ounces of protein & a veggie, easy peasy. although I have not eaten that much for breakfast, I think I easily could. (I have had 2 eggs & 2 slices of bacon, no toast.) eggs really smoosh up. The hardest part for me is not eating slider foods in mass quantity. Sometimes I get these cravings & I find myself eating more because I can.
  11. I have been on the 5:2 diet for 3 weeks. First week I lost 5 pounds. Then that came back week 2. So week 3, I kinda fell off the wagon. I am determined to get back on & lose the rest of this weight!

    The sad thing is that I have cut calories plenty of times, and I gained weight. The doctor and NUT have been pushing me to eat more since about 3 months out. It's odd how everyone's doctors are so different. They still want me to eat between 1500 & 1600 calories but I won't. I tried it & I gained.

  16. After my 4th fast day (Monday/Wednesday) I am down 5 pounds of my regain. I hate to use that word because I wasn't off track enough to "regain" 10 pounds but my body was bouncing up and down for the last 3 months. i would get to a new low then slowly climb back up (get my period) then spend the whole next months wrestling those pounds back off, get to a new low, then cycle starts again. grrrr! 5 more pounds to my all time low. Then I will know for sure this is working for me, you know? I know some of that 5 pounds is probably period fluff, but I am still feeling really positive. Also, my hunger (which was WAY outta control) is so much more manageable now it is crazy. Feast days & fast days I am just not as hungry as I was. I think I would stick to this eating plan even if I didn't lose anymore weight just for the hunger control alone. Happy happy happy!

  18. Excited to say that the scale is now down 3 pounds since I started 5:2. That's the most it's moved in just a week since I was 9 months out. I'm 16 months out now.
